My experience with D&D Plumbing Heating & Air, LLC got off to a rocky start due to in consistent responsiveness. Responsiveness and punctuality issues caused some delay in the project and some inconvenience for other contractors. I first contacted D&D because they were recommended by my home warranty company, Choice Warranty. I needed to have my furnace and AC unit disconnected and moved away from my basement wall so that I could have a crack in the foundation repaired. The estimate that I received originally was for $650.00, which included everything that would be required, to include a full recharging of the coolant system upon completion. I was told that the coolant was being phased out, and as a result would cost $50.00/lbs. I later did some research and found that R-22 coolant was selling on the internet for $216.00/30lbs. container (http://www.r-22.com/?_kk=r-22&_kt=b55460bb-c388-49bf-9f9a-4c55fd320149&gclid=CM_cgOOw1KkCFeVx5QodCE3RPQ). The job initially began Thursday evening, 6/23/2011. Since D&D arrived two hours after the scheduled time, the crack repair contractor was not able to get to the crack that night. The crack repair contractor waited at the home for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes before throwing in the towel. Shortly thereafter, D&D arrived to disconnect the furnace and AC unit. In their defense, they said traffic had held them up in Baltimore City. Today, Sunday, 6/26/2011, D&D returned to put the HVAC unit back in place and get everything connected. They did not reconnect the duct work to the top of the AC unit because they said that it had been removed prior to them diconnecting everything else and moving the unit. They left me with an HVAC system disconnected from the duct work of the house. They were also going to leave the exhaust duct disconnected until I pointed it out. The final bill was also $675.00, not the originally agreed upon $650.00. I had previously written a check for the originally agreed upon $650.00 but gave them a $20.00 to cover the rest as they were not able to change a $20.00 for the other $5.00. The excuse that I was given about the duct work not being reconnected was that, they did not have the tools with them in order to do the job. They also said that they did not pull off the aluminum fittings so they could not put them back becuase they had not had a chance to label everything. I had labeled everything meticulously when I slid the aluminum pieces out both on the AC unit as well as the sliding aluminum pieces themselves. Ultimatley, they did not reconnect the heating and AC unit, as indicated in the contract, when the job had completed.
Description of Work: Disconnect furnace and A-coil. Reconnect furnace and A-coil. Recharge outside unit with R-22 refrig. Above as stated on the contract.
