After shopping for barrel chairs I found that to replace my 2 chairs in the same quality was extremely expensive. As I felt the bones of the chairs were in excellent shape but the upholstery was old and tattered, I decided to find out how much reupholstering would cost. I called Clifton Upholstery and they responded immediately. After talking to Bob on the phone, he came to my home and presented material samples in the color choices I had asked for. The materials he presented were very high quality. I also decided to have him give me estimates on 4 cafe chairs and an office arm chair. After accepting his pricing on all, Clifton Upholstery came and picked up the chairs and the work was done and returned in a comfortable time frame (about 3 weeks). The quality of work exceeded my expectations and I am very happy with the results. If you have quality furniture that can be refurbished, it can be very cost effective and smart to do so. Bob Baxter of Clifton Upholstering did an amazing job!! I could not be more pleased!!! It's beautifully reupholstered, with retied springs and refinished wood. My favorite chair has been restored!! It's gorgeous!

Bob was so personable and understood exactly what I needed. He brought me fabric samples to choose from, and arranged to pick up our furniture early to get the pieces out of the way while we had our floors redone. He had the pieces completed and returned in the timeframe promised. Not only were they reupholstered with all new cushions, the wood was cleaned and oiled. And the quality of the work is really good. We are so pleased with the results, it's like we have all new furniture! I'm so glad we found Clifton Upholstering and Design on Angie's List!

The furniture was picked up the day I called. Bob even picked up the fabric from Blanks when it came in to save me a trip since I word every day. He then delivered the finished product by the date promised. Everything looked so beautiful better than when it was new. I can't tell you how pleased I am.

I guess their service was okay. They did the job and took a long time but I did not ask them to particularly hurry it up. It was upholstery and I was not anxious to get it. They are the only upholsterers in Baltimore anybody trusts, so their price is their price.

The work was very well done, on time and on budget. Would recommend them to anyone. The work done on these same pieces by one of their 'competitors" was horrible, so it was great to have such a positive experience.

The quality of the workmanship was superior and they gave quick and pleasant service.

They did a great job on a large chair and a half, with ottoman and pillows. They came on time to discuss the project, then to pick it up and deliver the finished work in a timely fashion.

This was the second job completed by this company. As with the first, the response was timely and delivery of completed product was very quick. Overall, I was very satisfied the first time, or I would not have used them a second time. However I was disappointed that my sofa job had a seam on the sofa back and down the seat cushion on both sides. I was told that was due to the fact that my selected fabric was only 54 inches wide. Had I known that and realized that a seam, actually one on both sides of the couch, about 8 inches from either end, would be visible I would have not chosen that fabric. This is why I gave a C grade for quality. I regret that I did not push the issue. I feel I was misled, hence a C grade for professionalism. Also felt his price was a little steep, although the work was done well with a fast turnaround time.

Service was prompt and responsive. Large selection of fabrics. Items delivered sooner than promised.

Clifton provided a service in an exemplary manner, across the board. Bob and his team were professional, considerate, timely and have earned our respect and intention to use them again for similar work. The original estimate was done in our home, including several suggestions. Bob paid attention to key details like matching the pattern (stripes) and positioning of the fabric on all the chairs. He even coached us to number each seat and chair - and then he was sure to transfer the numbers from where I put them to the outside of the new backing material on the bottom of the chair. A clear expectation was set for when the work would be completed ... and we were notified by phone that it was actually done one day early. All together a great example of skilled and professional service orientation. Thanks !

Bob picked up the chairs on August 14th and just delivered them this morning (Aug 29th). [The pick up and delivery was punctual, the time required to complete the job was also accurately estimated] They were absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! I can't emphasize this enough. They looked better than when they were new. They are wonderfully comfortable to sit on (no more sitting on a bucket!) and the precision and care of the reupholstering job was tremendous! It would have cost us about $450 per chair to replace them (we had purchased them at Crate and Barrel).. that would have been without custom selected fabric. Bob was able to fix and reupholster them for $165 per chair. I bought beautiful fabric that was perfect for our dining room. He needed about 3 yards per chair, the total was $200 per chair. Terrific savings and they are superb!! I would recommend him in a heart beat! I so appreciate having Angie's list where we can access such terrific professionals!

It went well. The price of the treatment did go up from initial quote, I think because I changed my mind then changed it back again without getting the quote in writing. I didn't say anything mainly because I didn't realize until after the fact as I paid in two installments and I'm also not good at that. To be fair it may have been rectified if I had. Also during my initial discussion I was told the sofa would be delivered to my door but when it was finished they called to tell me I could puck it up. I did say then that I was expecting it to be delivered. They did deliver it in the end but with very little notice. Over all good service but next time I will get everything in writing before I the down payment to save any confusion. The upholstery work was excellent and I am very happy with the finished product. It was expensive but the quality of work and materials were very high.

The estimate was prompt and the service was completed on time. The quality of the reapholstering was excellent. I am very satisfied with both the qualiity of the service and the product.

They have quite a fabric selection in their shop and the environment is very friendly. They brought the love-seat back when they said they would. They do provide pick-up and delivery service if needed. I do plan to use them again.

I had a great experience, and Clifton was happy to work with me even though I needed the work completed within 2 1/2 weeks. I took the seat cushions into Clifton, had my fabric shipped directly to them, and the work was completed in less than 2 weeks. They even reminded me to number my chairs and cushions before I removed them to make it easier to re-install the seat cushions once they were reupholstered. I'm thrilled with how great the chairs look.

I wanted to go with a lower quality material, but the owner advised me to go with a sturdier material because it'll last longer. I did and believe it was a wise decision. I don't remember the exact cost but remember it was reasonable prices. They did a great job.

It went very well and they were very good. When the work was finished, they called me to let me know it was complete. They had good customer service.

He does really good work. He is on the high end but his work is very professionally done.

At first I thought the price a bit high for my budget, but I did have an estimate a few years previously from a company (whose rep seemed distracted and not very consumer friendly) which was at least as high. And I did look for a similar new furniture piece in retail stores to compare - and could not find such a piece, but did find pieces of similar quality at a similar price to the reupholstering price, or higher. Since I really liked MY PIECE and it fit well in the place needed, I felt the upholstering was worth this investment and am not disappointed.

They were excellent. They are an all family company that has been around for 3 generations. They are very professional with an excellent selection of fabric. They did everything they promised on schedule and very nicely. They used tremendous expertise and top quality fabric. They are very service oriented and very helpful in picking the fabric. To replace the couch that I have would have cost about twice what I spent. The couch looks brand new and like it cost about $3,000 - $4,000. For the quality work I received I think the price was very fair. They really give you more than you bargain for in terms of service. It was worth every penny and I am very impressed with the work. I've had many compliments on it, too. I am so glad I found them.
