CHESAPEAKE CLOSETS

It was wonderful. We turned a whole room into a dressing room as well as an additional walk-in closet. Everyone was fun to work with and the installation was seamless for us, even in a hundred year old house. They were not satisfied until we were thoroughly satisfied.

I would like to thank the Chesapeake Closets team for the phenomenal work and process that we went through for our gorgeous master closet and alcove!!! It has been a pleasure! From the very start, they were so accommodating, knowledgeable and diligent. I must have gone back and forth with design changes for months and they were so patient. Everyone i dealt with was so helpful, tolerant and insightful with our needs. Chad and his helper, the installers were pleasant, experienced and amenable. They did an outstanding job on the install. Contacting them was easy and they responded quickly. All appointments were kept on time and they did exactly what they said they would do. The only thing I would have like to be done differently was to be able to talk to someone regarding the design and the changes that we made. Everything had to be done thru email and I personally do not like to do that. I would much rather discuss things in person. I was limited to only having the work done on Mondays and they worked around my schedule

Everything went well and as promised.

Not well. I called the company on January 3, 2017 and was told they had to look at the schedule and get back to me. I called again on the 6th since no one from the company was returning my calls. I finally got an e-mail in the evening on Jan 6th asking me to send pictures of the cracked shelf. Why couldn't they have just asked me to do that when I called on the 3rd? I sent the pics on the 6th and got a response back on the 9th. I got an estimate of 100.00 to replace the shelf. What about the warranty? I guess it is either non-existent or does not cover labor, but that seemed a little pricey for a 15x20 piece of laminated particleboard. So, my husband fixed the crack himself with some wood glue and touched it up with some paint, which is what he should have done in the first place. We were not impressed with the time it took, 6 days, to get an answer and a warranty that is not worth the promise they give you for follow up service. The closet system is nice and we have been satisfied with it, but the subsequent service you get when there is an issue frankly stinks. I would not recommend this company because of the follow through needs work.

Excellent! Chesapeake came out as arranged ( very punctual) and interviewed us as to our needs and ideas for the closets, then made extensive measurements in both closets. They instructed us to have the closets cleared and painted (we wanted to change the interior color) before they could install. After a week they emailed us their designs and we choose option 2 - it was better than we'd hoped for. They arranged an install date about 2 weeks out since it took time to get the materials and for us to prep both spaces. We hired a painter we knew from two prior jobs and he came out, removed old wire shelving, patched all holes and painted both closets walls and trim in one day. Chesapeake's installers (two men) showed up on the scheduled date, again very punctual. They installed both closets and were finished in a bit less than 6 hours. The results are fantastic. The shelving is really solid and doesn't touch the floor. We now have a ton of storage that our small kitchen never could provide. The coat closet has lower shelves for shoes and boots, plus top shelves for hats and whatever. The coat bar is a perfect height. The men worked quickly, cleanly, and the finished workmanship is top notch. We highly recommend them.

Steve was very responsive and understood the urgency. The work was completed in 2 days.

Met with several closet designers from Angie's list. We had a window frame that only allowed about 10 inches of clearance from adjoining wall (corner of the room) to the window frame. Steve custom designed a shelving stack that went all the way against the wall with 10 inch deep shelves to accommodate that window (and no wasted space) where other companies wanted to overlap the window frame with standard 12 inch deep shelves and consequently only get the shelving to within 2.5 inches of the wall to its side (dead space). He was very enthusiastic and met us at his shop on a weekend to allow us to see the materials he uses. We put 25% down and he scheduled us to install the closet after the Christmas holidays (first available, but wound up being about a month wait). The office staff (Tanya and Dan who were also extremely professional and helpful!) subsequently called and said that they could come Christmas eve if that was okay with us. They said they would be here at 8 am and they arrived at 7:50am. I had already demo'd the old closet and patched and repaired the holes and painted it. Steve told us when we purchased that they would demo and provide an initial patching of holes for the same quoted price but I wanted it patched, sanded and painted so I did that part myself (no money was taken off the price for doing it myself). Demo and patch was extra with all other contractors and used as a bargaining chip by them to bring their price down if I did it (none of their prices were as low as Chesapeake's even with doing the demo myself). Two crews (4 guys) arrived on a rainy Christmas eve and laid cardboard and drop cloths and removed their shoes in the entry way to keep from causing a mess. They were extremely professional and cleaned up meticulously after install. They completed their work in about 3.5 hours and my wife was, and is, ECSTATIC with her new closet and how nice it looks. The shelves hang from the wall and none of them go all the way to the floor to allow for cleaning underneath and future carpeting changes but they are rock solid and stronger than the ones we had previously that had floor supports. We would definitely use these guys again and the design freed up space from the old shelving configuration so we actually have much more space than we had previously. My wife is a working professional with TONS of clothes so this closet wasn't small. Can't thank Steve and his crews enough for the great experience.

They're pretty good at adjusting their plans for you. I actually changed my mind several times on the design.

Just like when I hired them 2 years ago, the closet designer, Danny, came out and listened to my ideas and talked about what I wanted, then made a few suggestions. A day later, he emailed his design to me with a contract and price. I made a few changes, and he emailed me the new changes and revised price. Once they received my deposit, they called to set up a time for install. They even emailed 2 days before the service to confirm. The installers arrived on time and even said that they had a note to be quiet in case my baby was asleep - I am glad that they actually paid attention to that. I wanted them to start in the baby's room so that my daughter could nap in her room later, but they actually suggested doing both rooms at once so that they would be finished more quickly. They were very professional and clean and made sure I was satisfied before asking for the final payment. They also offered a few payment options, which was helpful to me. A few hours later, a receipt was emailed to me for my records. I especially want to thank Danny, who has now designed 4 wonderful closets in my home and Ryan, who is polite, friendly and professional on the phone. My installer was very kind and respectful, but I can't remember his name! Thank you, Chesapeake Closets, for helping to organize my home. I have already recommended you and will continue to do so, and would use you again many times!

Excellent company. I have had several jobs done at my home with Chesapeake Closets, both large and small. I was thrilled every time! The team was professional from the estimate to the installation. They were timely, efficient and always courteous. The craftsmanship is amazing. They treated the small job with the same enthusiasm as the large project. I recommend them to everyone!?

From all accounts, the installation went well. My son was pleased and the design worked for him. My issue came a couple of years later when my son died. My husband and I removed the closet material from my son's house so we could use it in our home. I had enough closet materials to organize at least 4-5 closets, my son had paid for that much work over $1500 My problem with Chesapeake Closet is their attitude and treatment of me when I contacted them for help reinstalling the closets material for a very small laundry room, basically 2 shelving units, in my current home. Not only did they not initially call me back, but when I called to find out the price I was told it would cost $500+ to do the laundry room. When I asked why so much for such a small job and I already had all the materials, I was told that he couldn't send a truck for less than that or he would lose money. I didn't need a whole truck, I just needed some one to help with a new installation (installation only, all the materials were already at my house). I then asked if they had instruction sheets he could send me so we could try to do the installation ourselves. Again, the answer was no because, as they told me, they don't have anything like that to give me. So basically I now have over $1500 of closet material that I can't use because I have no way to install it, either as a DIY or pay an installer. If they are looking to do addition work at my house with all the other closets I'm redoing, they lost a customer. I would not have them in my house under any circumstances and I definitely would NEVER, EVER, EVER recommend for any job like this to anyone on the planet. I feel like my job didn't provide Chesapeake Closet with a big enough profit margin and wasn't a big enough job to be worth their time. And that's how they made me feel. Make no mistake, when they were courting me, and I'm sure anyone else for new business, they put on a great act. But in all honesty, that's all it was -- a big act. Not a drop of sincerity about them. Beware of them -- they only seem to want the big profit clients and you will probably be over charged.

What I like about Chesapeake Closets was that they actually returned the call and came when they were supposed to come. Their crew was very polite, they cleaned up, and were very professional.

Based on the good reviews in Angie's List, we called Chesapeake Closets. Steve promptly scheduled an appointment with us and came to our house. He discussed our needs with us and took measurements.We arranged for installation to occur in one month's time, which fit our schedule. The closet was installed in one day and the installation was performed in accordance with detailed plans that we had approved. The closet has helped us become more organized, and we are only sorry that we waited several years before having the work performed.
