Caplan Bros Glass

Took 1 complete sash in for repair and ordered 2nd glass to repair 2nd window at home which also required new beads (ordering from andersen). Took just over week for glass order to come in and sash to be repaired. 15 mins to reattach sash when I got home. Glass looks great, I cannot see any difference from existing. Under half the cost of new sash's from Andersen. I still need to install the 2nd pane when beads come in but overall I am very happy.

Caplan was very responsive, offering same-day service. The estimator and the repairmen were efficient, informative and courteous. I would definitely hire Caplan again.

I removed my cracked double-hung windows from their sashes and took them to Caplan Brothers, where they measured the dimensions and ordered new glass inserts. The ordering process was easy and quick. The receptionist at Caplan told me that bringing the windows in myself would be significantly cheaper than having them come to me, so I chose to do that. I took the windows back to Caplan a week later when the replacement windows arrived. The replacement process took only a few minutes. The windows look very good, except some glue (used to adhere the glass inserts into the metal or vinyl frames) oozed out, so I'll have to take a razor to clean them up, but it's not a big deal. I gave Caplan a "B" for responsiveness, only because both times I went into the office, I had to wait about 10 minutes before someone came in to wait on me. A sign on the counter said that if there is no employee there, they are waiting on another customer and would be in shortly. I suppose this is because they don't get much walk-in traffic, so I wasn't bothered by this. Overall, an excellent transaction and I wouldn't hesitate to use Caplan again.

My request was put in two weeks ago and I have received excuse after excuse as to why no one has been out to the property. I am rating this company poorly because they have not made any effort to rectify the situation

Ordering the window was easy. They had to come out to see what needed replacement and to take measurements. About 6 weeks later, they came out to actually install the new window. The installers were on time (within the window of 8am-noon), polite and efficient, and cleaned not only the new window, but its old partner as well. I'm very happy with the cloud-free window!

We used Caplan Brothers to repair a broken window pane. We had no issues whatsoever with the installers (Ricky and Phil) who were both courteous and professional. Special thanks to Phil for leaning out the window to remove the broken glass from the gutters. The issue we had with Caplan had to do with the office staff. We had the wrong glass ordered the first time (transposition of measurements) and it sounds like it wasn't isolated. We had to follow up consistently with the front office just to get scheduled. I would think there is room for improvement in the office function, but we were extremely satisfied with the end result.

Called them on a Mon afternoon to fix a broken window. They took all my info and said someone would be out on Tues. Salesman came and measured the window, gave me a quote, I approved it, and repair was scheduled for Tues afternoon. Technician came and window was fixed. Problem solved in less than 24 hours. I wish all my home repairs went so smoothly.

Fortunately we aren't in a rush for a small job such as replacing a small double pane window, and it is for this reason I couldn't justify myself or my wife having to take off time from work a couple of times (one for estimate and one for installation). The kicker is, Caplan doesn't work on weekends and they don't do appointments after 3:00 pm during the week! Can't say that I've ever come across a business with those hours. The shame is, my wife literally gets home at 3 every day. This has been a blessing on many occasions when we've needed work done with various businesses throughout the years. I relayed this information but I guess it wasn't possible for someone to come to our house at 3:00 and take what I imagine would be 10 minutes to price out a single 20" x 30" window. Anyway, responses I received were timely and the pre-estimate estimate (guessed on the size) seemed reasonable. Aside from those things, I would say that we simply couldn't do business because of the business hour time constraints.

Caplan came the day I called and measured. They returned the next day and installed the plexiglass replacement I asked for. The installer also told me how to clean plexiglass which I did not know.

The sample glass that was taken back to their shop and analyzed by their window staff. They found the glass color could not be matched exactly to glass they had on hand or could order because it was so old. One of the window staff contacted me to let me know about the match problem, discuss replacement options and check to see if they should continue with the replacement. I asked them to make the closest match to the color that they could. They arrived promptly at the promised time to fix the window. After the replacement I was told by the people staying in my house that the match was fine and the installation looked good. There was not a noticible difference in the glass color. I paid 1/3 of the cost when I commissioned them to do the job and the remainder after the job was complete. I spoke with at least 4 different people at Caplan's and all were courteous and thorough in explaining their process and my options. The gentleman I spoke to about the glass was a delight to talk with- frank and funny. I had confidence the job would be done well even though I wasn't there to 'supervise' it and inspect the glass before it was hung. They did a great job for me and I think that's the kind of work they do.

They were very quick and very flexible in accommodating to my schedule for the installation. I was very pleased the glass came in less than a week after I placed the order. They called me the morning the glass was ready and came over that same afternoon to do the repair! Highly recommend them!

From the first call to Caplan Bros Glass to the installation it was completely easy and professional. They came on time, gave me the price to replace the window and the price to put in a temporary window, if I wanted it. They had to order my window and let me know when it should come in. They called to set up an installation time and once again were on time and professional. Everyone I dealt with treated me with respect and professionalism. Very friendly, neat and easy to deal with. I would definitely hire them again and I highly recommend them.

The technician was very professional, polite, and took his time to make sure the caulking around each glass was applied evenly. After the installation he carefully cleaned up the area, and suggested I go over the area with a vacuum cleaner to make sure all the bits of glass were removed from the carpet. He did a fantastic job! I was (am) very pleased with the results! I would definitely recommend Caplan Bros. Glass and would use them in the future!

. We had just moved in, and the window is older, and we were not clear at all on how to remove it. I called Caplan on Thursday with the need for someone there Friday morning, and I was very pleased that they were able to accommodate the schedule.

Caplan Glass was great. We had two windows that had broken or missing glass. The scheduling was easy. The estimator called me first so I could meet him at the house as agreed and walked through the job with me. The estimate was ready the same day, and they called me to check that I received it. We agreed on the price, which was very reasonable, and the glass was ready very quickly. The installers came on time, installed the glass, cleaned up after themselves, and it looks great! The windows look terrific! Great job, I would definitely use them again.

The initial impression when I call was very professional, and a person was sent out the same day to measure the window and provide an estimate. After I agreed to move forward, I was told it would be 2 -3 weeks to obtain the correct glass and be installed. It was about 2-1/2 weeks. The installer was very professional, and did a wonderful job. He cleaned up all the broken glass and left the area neat and tidy.

My neighbor contacted Caplan Bros when his weed wacker kicked up a stone and shattered my front storm door. They came out and measure my door and he purchased the glass on 10/21. He was told it would be 7-10 days. In the meantime I had a metal door frame with shards of glass all around the perimeter. After one week I asked my neighbor if he'd heard anything. He said he'd call them and check. Two weeks came and went and I still had no front door. A very gusty rain storm and Halloween came and went and I still had no front door. I had to sit on my front steps because I couldn't have children coming up to that broken glass. I had out-of-town company the following weekend so I decided to call Caplan myself the following Monday (November 4). They said the glass had been ready since October 28 and they'd been trying to get in touch with my neighbor to set up the installation date. Well, they didn't try hard enough. As far as I'm concerned, they could have just come and installed it and been done with it. It was the front storm door. Not an upstairs bedroom. No one need be home. Regardless, I told them to come and install it ASAP. I arrived home on installation day (Nov 7) and discovered I finally had a glass in my storm door! Huzzah! I could open my front door again! However, I also discovered a lot of pieces of glass on my front porch. How disappointing. It looked like they had past a broom quickly over it and that was it. I swept up a pile of glass shards that were missed. What if I had small children or pets that came in and out of that door? I can't believe this was considered an acceptable way to leave a job site. I don't find it acceptable and am glad I didn't pay for it. Frankly, I'm surprised. I always thought Caplan was a class act around town. I would caution people to keep on top of them if they even use their services. And, I will look elsewhere if I ever need to buy glass.

The provider sent someone out to measure our damaged window glass, they provided a cost estimate within 48 hours and ordered the new glass for us. About a week later, the provider sent a crew to replace the window. The crew was punctual and the window was fixed very quickly. We are very happy with the results.

It went excellent. The estimator showed up on time, did a thorough job of measuring, installation was on time, and the installer made sure the job was done 100% correctly. There were no issues left unresolved. The window was a perfect match for all the other windows in the town house.

We contacted Caplan Glass to inquire about the replacement of the glass in 4 sections of the bay window. In about a week they sent someone out to see the job that needed to be completed. The windows that needed replacing were marked with a sticker so the installers would know which ones needed to be done. We received a written estimate and then added the 2 screens to the estimate. We then agreed on the price and paid 1/2 upfront so the materials could be ordered. Caplan glass rep called us about 2 1/2 weeks later to set up the install day which was Sept. 27th. The installers came when promised, did the job and cleaned everything up and were done in a couple hours. The finished windows look wonderful! We will definitely use Caplan Glass again in the future and recommend this company to anyone who needs glass service.
