I called Armored, set up an appointment for an estimate, Jay came out and diagnosed my problem (no hard sell just down to Earth discussion) and I signed the contract to get the work done. They arrived exactly on time and started to work. Rich (the leader) and his crew covered up stuff in basement with plastic and started to do their thing. Jack-hammered out the inside perimeter of my basement floor, removed the old concrete, sump, drain hose, and then drilled drain holes into the cinder blocks (cells) above the footer, to allow water to drain from them into the dug up trench. Next they installed gravel, the new drain system, more gravel, then covered with cement, not to forget installing 2 new sump pits and 2-3/4 HP pumps. Not to forget the new drain grate in the outside basement entranceway that drains into the new system. They were finished that afternoon. All of the workers were very personable, courteous, plus were ready to answer any questions I had We've had a few rains with one heavy storm (downpour) with NO water in basement! No more lying awake at night when its raining.! Bring it on!
Description of Work: Replaced the old, original clogged up round-type French Tile (which had an old clogged up sock around it) from around the inside perimeter of my basement that had been there for 20+ years with a new Quick-Flo System and installed two 3/4 HP sump pumps and rerouted where they drained (the original drained in my front yard) and installed new sump drain (2 in fact) which now drains into the existing drains on the side of my house.. Also added, at the bottom of my outdoor basement entrance steps, a new drain grate which empties into the new drainage system. They were substantially less costly (thousands in fact) than the other estimate I had gotten from a leading waterproofing company.

Everything the reviews say is true. Armored Basement Waterproofing came out to my house, exactly on time, surveyed the situation and provided recommendations on the spot by explaining that my situation is caused, not by a basement problem, but by the grade of my garden on the front of my house. He explained how I could fix the issue myself, or what to ask for when interviewing landscapers. Incredibly helpful and reassuring; I almost wished that I did have a basement issue because he instilled so much confidence... Needless to say, if I ever do have a basement problem, I know who to call.

It went well. Jay came out and did the estimate, explained things, and showed me a time elapsed video of how the work would go. The team arrived on schedule, and got right to it. Quick, professional and very polite. They knew what they were doing and didn't waste time. The only down side was that they don't do drywall, but I knew that ahead of time and limed up someone to come in right after and do that part. I waited a while to post because I wanted to make sure the water leaks I suffered through before were taken care of by the Armored Basement system. Lots of snow melt, lots of rain since November, and a dry basement! Great job!
Description of Work: Cut the drywall floor to ceiling across most of my basement, dug a trench into the foundation, lined the walls with vinyl so leaking water would go into the trench, drilled holes into cinderblock so water would leak into trench, and installed sump pump to pump water out. Cleaned everything up.

. we had a significant water problem in our basement which required a service to come to our home and perform an extensive drying and anti-mold treatment of a very large area. They then recommended that we contact a Steve Taylor to identify and repair the source of the leak. He said that we would need a very extensive repair involving tearing down the drywall and jack hammering the flooring for a $19000 price tag. I then contacted Armored for a second opinion. The owner of the company himself came out and after investigating the problem for about an hour discovered that it was a leaking pipe behind our wall and insulation that was causing the problem. A plumber was contacted and the entire job was completed for $75. Armored didn't charge us at all! I have never dealt with someone as competent or honest. He saved me $19000 and an enormous amount of aggravation.

So I've been haunted with a wet basement for several years now and I finally decided to get something done about it . My problem appeared to be a deterioration of the ?french Drain? that was originally part of my house. resulting in one section of the perimeter of my basement allowing water to seep up from the foundation. I spent several hours on Angie's List going through all the reviews from various local companies and decided based on my reading that I wanted to get Armored Basement Waterproofing to provide me an estimate. Jay came out and examined my situation and we spent about an hour talking about various options and an in depth conversation about how water infiltrates the basement. That evening I received an email with a price quote for various work that could be done. The price was very reasonable based on the level of work that would be needed .Subsequently an appointment was scheduled about a week later. A crew of three arrived on time and spent about 5 hours to complete the project. It?s a little bit unnerving to see your basement floor being jackhammered , but it was done in a remarkably efficient and unobtrusive manner. the debris was confined and the mess was actually less than I expected. I was very pleased with the pace and quality of the work, the friendliness of the workers and also Chris? willingness to ?keep me in the loop? as things progressed. As of this writing, we have had very minor rains to speak of so the new water management system has yet to be truly tested, but based on what was accomplished, i?m sure i can look forward to a dry basement for years to come, and finally some peace of mind as the rains I know, will inevitably appear. Based on the work provided by Armored Basement, I would not hesitate to consider or recommend them to others should a similar need arise. Thanks guys for a job well done !!!
Description of Work: installed a Quick Flo drain system or "French Drain" around half the perimeter of my interior basement, modified sump well and installed new liner and pump, installed 36" stairwell grate drain and tied it into sump pump.

Armored basement gave us a prompt estimate, they were on time for installation, and the work was completed in one day. They also gave us a warranty that is transferable, which I appreciate. We chose Armored Basement due to the strong reviews on Angielist. They were also less expensive than a couple of the other companies that come out. Since the installation approximately four months ago, we have no water at all in the basement and we no complaints as we used to have seepage during heavy rainfall. The only thing that could have been improved is the sump pump is plugged into a wall outlet as opposed to being directly wired into a power supply.
Description of Work: We had a drainage system installed along the length of our basement wall (we have an unfinished basement) and a sump pump installed. Armored basement also installed a floor drain underneath the cellar door steps.

I selected this company based on Angie's LIst reviews touting their honesty. I wanted a company to come out and diagnose the problem, not just promote what they sell. My cinder block basement shows signs of moisture and the beginnings of mold formation. Another company came out and without diagnosing the cause of the problem, pushed an interior water removal system costing about 12k. Jay from Armored Basement came out today and diagnosed that the problem was coming from broken and clogged downspouts, not underground water. He said that by fixing the downspouts and doing some minor landscaping to grade water away from the house, the problem should be solved. Armored does not do this kind of work, but instead of trying to sell me an unnecessary system, they were honest enough to tell me what was really wrong and how to solve it. I was NOT charged for their visit! They were very professional, followed up the appointment with an e-mail confirmation, and showed up on time.

Mr. [Member Name Removed], Thank you for commenting on our honesty. Many times people talk about honesty only to come to your home with a different approach. Thank you for acknowledging our claims of honesty and no sales pressure. Like you said, other companies will propose solutions without even knowing the cause of the problem; often resulting in a contract that is 1,000s of dollars instead of a DIY or inexpensive solution. We are not salesmen so we don't have to worry about a commission. What we do worry about is our reputation in your community. Thank again, Gary

Armored Basement Waterproofing did a great job patching up a leaky crack in our basement last month, and at a fraction of the cost of other competing quotes. Additionally, they performed all the work inside our home without the need to dig outside around the foundation, which is appreciated as we?re about to sell our house. The people in the office we communicated with for quotes and scheduling--as well as the gentlemen who performed the work--were polite, courteous, and prompt. We?re happy to report that the repair has held up well to the recent heavy rains. We would gladly recommend their services.

This is a two-part review. In the first year of home ownership (2014) our finished basement was leaking in several spots along one wall and a portion of the opposite wall. We had two different companies come in to provide us quotes. The first company was very sales oriented. The salesman didn?t investigate outside the house to verify how water was entering and he gave us only one option to fix the problem which was very costly. Jay Bengtson came out to provide a second quote, at that time he was working for Basement Technologies. He gave us two options, waterproof around the whole basement (same as the quote from the first company) or waterproof in the areas where water was coming in to see if it solved the problem. He told us that if the second option didn't work we could get the rest of the basement waterproofed for about the difference between the partial and the full waterproofing. Jay spent more time with us, investigating the problem, was not pushy, and he also gave us better explanations and didn't talk down to us like the first guy did. We felt more comfortable with Jay and understood the risks and benefits of each of the options. Since we had never had a problem with any other spots, we decided on the second, partial waterproofing option and hoped for the best. The crew they sent out was professional, showed up on time, and did a great job with the work and the clean up. The total cost was about $4100. We waited about 6 months to get the basement refinished (putting in studs and baseboards, dry wall, priming the walls, replacing carpet padding, and stretching and tacking the carpet down). After the refinishing work was done, we started noticing that water was coming in at the sump pump and no where else, the water was significant enough that we needed to place towels down to soak it up whenever it rained. We finally contacted Jay to ask him to come and look at it. He made the time to come the next day and through quick investigation he found that the construction company that refinished after the waterproofing had cut the discharge pipe that sends the water outside from the sump pump and rather than correctly placing the boot over the cut pipe, they cut the boot and tried to seal it to fix their mistake which allowed the water to drain right back in to the house. We had just returned home from the hospital with our newborn and didn't care which company was at fault, we just wanted it fixed so we asked Jay to fix it and told him we would pay him and then ask the other company to pay us back since they were at fault. Jay went to a hardware store to get a boot and returned to place it on the same day. It has rained several times since he fixed it and no water has entered, problem solved! When we followed up to remind him to bill us, he told us he did not plan to charge us for the work which was so generous considering he came to fix someone else's mistake. Jay now has a new company called Armored Basement Waterproofing, we will definitely be calling him for any future needs and we would highly recommend his work to anyone.

Most professsional company I have ever delt with. From Tara who handled all scheduling and administration to the extremely professional installation team I couldn't have been more pleased. Work was completed on schedule and cost. Even when one of the drain pipes exiting the house was not to our satisfaction they came back immediately and rerouted the pipe as we desired (at no small expense to them I am sure). Definitely the company to call if you want it done right.

Jay from Armored Basement Waterproofing was very knowledgeable and gave his recommendations without being a salesman like some of the other companies we had out. The solution he recommended was more thorough than those proposed from others, and the quote was also lower.. so it was an easy choice to go with them! The crew showed up on schedule, but the job ended up progressing slower than expected. What was expected to be a one-day job ended up taking two, but the job was completed to my satisfaction and our basement has been water-free ever since. I would definitely recommend Armored Basement Waterproofing for your job!

We thought we needed an estimate for a vapor barrier for the basement, and I liked the reviews this company received here, so we had a representative come out. He explained to us that what we thought we needed, was not necessary. That a more reasonable and cost effective method could be applied - by the homeowner - that the company's services would not be needed. How refreshing. Of course, this was good news for us, and we will be touting the honesty of Armored Basement Waterproofing to friends and family.

Jay came out to our house to provide an estimate and explain the work that would have to be done. He was very professional and explained every step of the process. We found his estimate very affordable and less than the other 3 estimates we received. His company performed the same job as the others at a more reasonable price. The guys arrived on time and went right to work. I only remember them taking 1 break and they were finished within an 8 hour period. They were very nice and professional. Before they left we walked through the work they performed and made sure we were happy not only with the work but the cleanup as well. We would highly recommend this company to everyone. We have had a ton of rain since the work was completed and our basement remains DRY! Thanks again to eveyrone at Armored.

I was most impressed with the customer service side and consistent follow up throughout the process. The guys showed up on time and got the job done in one day. We could not figure out the source of water in the middle of our basement floor and called two different plumbers. The plumbers said our main water line was leaking and showed us that the meter continued to run despite the water being shut off in the house. We had the water line replaced, but the water in the basement returned within a few days. The plumber who replaced the water line returned for another inspection, had the sewer line checked out, and after no leak was found there, offered to put a trench in the floor that would take the water from the middle of the basement to the sump pump. The alternative was to contact a basement waterproofing company. We called Armored Basement Waterproofing and were able to set up an appointment quickly with staff who were very polite and helpful. Jay from Armored Basement Waterproofing came today on Saturday morning. Jay was professional and down to earth and obviously very knowledgeable and serious about his business. He quickly checked out our entire basement including sump pump and French drains, and told us all were functioning well. He continued his thorough inspection and, using his flashlight, tracked water to a corner we had not noticed was wet. He moved several cabinets that were pushed up against wood paneling and found damaged paneling. He pulled away the paneling and exposed a water pipe that was leaking quietly and steadily behind the paneling. Within 15 minutes of his arrival, Jay had diagnosed the plumbing problem that should have been diagnosed and repaired by the plumbers. While we did not need their services today, Armored Basement Waterproofing is a company I would call in a minute for any basement waterproofing issues. The knowledgeable and honest approach they take to their work is truly exemplary.

We started noticing water in our basement about a week ago. After our plumber told us that there was likely a crack in our foundation - which was causing the water accumulation - I contact Jay with Armored Basement Waterproofing through Angies List. Jay got back to me by the next morning and was able to schedule an appointment for that week. This was especially helpful since we were expecting some serious rainfall, and I was worried about flooding in the basement. Jay arrived on time and immediately began checking out the basement. He looked at the floor, the outside drain, and then began to examine the bathroom. He ultimately realized that the water was caused by a leak in the shower. He recommended that we call another plumber. He didn't charge us anything for the visit Hopefully, we never have any more problems with water in the basement, but if we do, we will definitely call Jay. He was punctual, professional, and honest.

Everything went well. From the signing of the contract, to completion of the waterproofing services, I was provided with a date two weeks out along with what to expect and be prepared for. The crew, led by Chris, arrived on time and ready to start the job without any issue. They gave me an expected time of completion of about fours which they met. I was pleased with the completed job and the finished install which was seamless. The only issue I had was not being told upfornt was that the use of a credit card would required a processing service charge. I would use Armored Basement Waterproofing and refer them to anyone in need of waterproofing services in the future.

I just moved into an older home. The basement has a musty smell so I wanted to have it checked for leaks/water. They did an absolutely fantastic job. Fast and efficient, and we haven't had a leak since. The only knock I had was that, when they gave the estimate, they said they could work around my concrete utility sink, but when they arrived, they told me they would need to demo it. Not a big deal in the overall picture, but it would have been nice to know in advance. Still, all in all, I would definitely recommend them.

Jay and the team could not have been better. Highly recommend this company. Their estimate was fair, the discussion was open and honest about the pros and limits of the wall system. The company is small enough that you are always speaking with the same folks, which I find very important. The crew showed up first thing in the morning and worked like crazy til they were done. I have never seen a crew work that hard and be that focused before! They cleaned up the entire site, leaving no mess for me to deal with. With all the heavy rain we had the month later I called the office with some concerns. The same crew showed up, made some minor adjustments and made sure I was happy with the results. The system has been working really well. I am excited about being able to use this part of my house for an actual office. Great work team!

MY HOUSE IS 50 YEARS OLD. WHEN I BOUGHT THE HOUSE 30 YEARS AGO, I NOTICED SOME WATER SEEPAGE ALONG THE PANEL MOLDING ON THE FLOOR IN THE BASEMENT. WHEN I REMOVED THE WALL PANELING, THERE WAS A CRACK WHERE THE PREVIOUS 2 OWNERS DID SOME PATCH WORK. I THEN DID SOME MORE PATCH WORK MYSELF. FAST FORWARD 30 YEARS TO NOW - THE SEEPAGE CAME BACK. I AGAIN REMOVED THE PANELING, DRILLED INTO THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE CONCRETE BLOCK AND SOME WATER DID COME OUT. IF MY PREVIOUS PATCH WORK FROM 30 YEARS AGO WORKED, I FIGURED THAT I COULD DO IT AGAIN. BUT BEFORE I DID THAT, I WANTED TO GET AN EXPERT IN TO GET ANOTHER ASSESSMENT. I CALLED ARMORED BASEMENT ON A WEDNESDAY MORNING AND SPOKE WITH TARA. SHE SET UP AN APPT. FOR THAT AFTERNOON FOR JAY BENGTSON TO COME OUT. JAY CAME OUT PROMPTLY WITH THE PROPER EQUIPMENT. JAY LISTENED TO ME REGARDING ALL THE BACKGROUND CONCERNING THE LEAK AND WHAT I HAVE DONE, BOTH OUTSIDE WITH THE LANDSCAPING AS WELL AS INSIDE WITH PREVIOUS PATCHING. JAY DRILLED INTO THE WALL AND INSERTED HIS FLEXIBLE CAMERA TO GET AN ASSESSMENT. JAY FELT THAT WHEN THE ORIGINAL BLOCK WAS LAID AND CONCRETE POURED, THERE MAY HAVE BEEN SOME SMALL POCKETS THAT WERE NOT SEALED CAUSING THE MINOR SEEPAGE. JAY WAS INCREDIBLY HONEST IN HIS ASSESSMENT. HE FELT THAT I COULD POUR CONCRETE INTO THE DRILLED HOLES TO FILL THE OPEN CHAMBERS IN THE CINDER BLOCK AND LETTING THAT CONCRETE SETTLE TO THE BOTTOM TO WHERE THE FOOTING IS, THAT ANY SLIGHT CRACKS IN THE BLOCKS COULD POSSIBLY BE SEALED. THEN MORE PATCH WORK LIKE I PREVIOUSLY DID WOULD TAKE CARE OF MY PROBLEM. JAY TOLD ME TO KEEP AN EYE ON THE AREA AND IF DOWN THE ROAD THERE IS MORE SEEPAGE AND IT GETS WORSE THAN WAS IT HAS BEEN, THEN HIS COMPANY COULD COME OUT, DIG OUT THE OUTSIDE AREA AND SEAL EVERYTHING FROM THE OUTSIDE. OF COURSE, THAT WOULD COST. JAY DID NOT CHARGE ME FOR HIS EVALUATION NOR FOR THE WORK THAT HE DID. IN THIS DAY AND AGE, HIS HONESTY WAS/IS INCREDIBLY REFRESHING. I WILL CERTAINLY USE HIS COMPANY'S SERVICES IN THE FUTURE IF NEED BE AND I WILL CERTAINLY RECOMMEND HIS COMPANY TO OTHERS.
Description of Work: JAY BENGTSON, THE ESTIMATOR AND FOUNDATION EXPERT, FIRST EXAMINED THE OUTSIDE OF THE FOUNDATION AND THE TERRAIN ALONG THE FOUNDATION. THEN INSIDE, JAY DRILLED INTO THE SUSPECTED AREA WHERE WATER MAY BE ENTERING. HE THEN INSERTED A CAMERA INTO THE WALL TO SEE WHERE WATER MAY BE ENTERING THE FOUNDATION.

From contacting the office staff and scheduling an appointment the people at Armored were friendly, professional and responsive. Jay came out with another person to assess the issue in our basement. He gave the same recommendation that other companies had. As we discussed the issue with him, he let us know that they provided a lifetime guarantee on everything including the sump pump (no other company included the sump pump in their guarantee) and we also learned this was a small family run business. With those details and the fact they also gave us the best price we choose Armored Basement Waterproofing for our basement repairs. We couldn't be happier with the choice. When Jay was at our home he mentioned he might have one day open the following week to schedule the work if not the next openings were in the following month. I scheduled with Tara via email and was able to get the earlier date and the crew arrived on time and completed the work neatly and in a timely manner. As we were headed out of town I was so relieved they were able to get everything completed and I didn't have to worry about coming home to a wet basement. I highly recommend this company for your basement waterproofing needs.
Description of Work: After having several companies come out to inspect the water issue in our basement; all from Angie's List and all said the same thing. We should get two window drains, a drain along the front of the basement and installed a sump pump. Not only did Armored Basement have the best price the employees were effective and efficient .

Armored Basement came out the next day to fix the problem, free of charge! Jay is awesome, he wouldn?t take payment, he is genuinely trying to help people. It?s very rare that you find companies or people that discount their own benefit to help people in need! I highly recommend Armored Basement..
Description of Work: I am extremely impressed with the integrity, expertise and knowledge of this company. I had two well known waterproofing companies come out before calling armored waterproofing. Both B-dry and Mr. Basement misdiagnosed the problem which had a very simple solution. I have French drains that have been installed and two sump pumps (both working properly), however, with all the recent rain our basement has flood numerous times. I really couldn’t understand why there water in our basement since there is a drainage system already in place. The solution offered by B-dry was to dig up my backyard along the foundation, reinforce it and increase the width of the already installed drainage system. B-dry also stated that there are not enough weep holes in the walls and they would need to drill every three inches to relieve the water that is being housed in the wall. According to the tech, if I was to wait any longer the walls would crack and buckle and if that was to happen they would have to put in steel beams. He made it seem like there was a real urgency to get this work done or it would be Armageddon. He quoted $5000.00, but he said he would give me a deal at $4,500.00 after a 10% discount. I had scheduled Mr. Basement to make sure that what B-dry was saying is accurate. The tech from Mr. Basement came in looked around my basement for 5 minutes and said while my sump pumps are working, they are too small for the area and I needed install their no water system. He explained that my drains are being clogged and I needed a bigger sump pump like their system. Their system will vacuum water from the drains and I won’t have any flooding. I asked the tech from Mr. Basement if they are going to dig outside, he said no, you don’t need that, that’s a lot of money. I also inquired about drilling weep holes and the concern that the walls might buckle due to all the water being stored in them. The tech responded, they can drill more weep holes if I wanted them too, but the wall is not a concern and the system they will install is 100% guaranteed. Mr. Basement quoted me $3500.00 for their system and the work. Fortunately, I called armored and avoided paying thousands of dollars for something that is easily fixed with less than $100.00 in materials. Not only did they accommodate an earlier appointment date, but they came out after hours to check the problem. The tech explained that there is a very easy fix to my problem. I have recently finished and insulated my basement, due to the moisture in the walls when it rained the insulation was getting soaked and the water was not getting down into the drains. A piece of dry wall was removed and some water was ran to demonstrate that this is the root of the problem. The sump pumps did their job and so did the drainage system. The tech from armored explained that there are too many salesmen in the industry; they didn’t know where the problem was resulting from or didn’t care because they are trying to peddle their products. There was no charge for the visit, and not only did armored basement save me thousands of dollars if I went with one of the other companies, I would still have this problem occur. I am truly thankful to Armored basement for not taking advantage and helping me solve the problem!
