Description of Work: Misha repaired two jousts that were damaged by termites. Electric wires had to be disconnected and rerouted. I needed the job done as soon as possible, so he agreed to work it in between other larger jobs he was working. The job was completed within about week. I am happy with quality of the work and would use them again. I found the company to be professional knowledgable and friendly.

We purchased a home as is which required a fair amount of work, most of which we could only account for after the purchase. The contractor showed up before and after purchase to do a full review of inspection and structural engineer recomendations and walked us through our options. We walked through the initial estimate, but the contractor also showed us areas where we could potentially save/or expend more money. This was a 2 story house built in 1936 with a small basement with crawlspace. The contractor showed up at our location daily (including weekends) for 1.5 months with 2-6 employees (not subcontractors or off-the-street laborers). Whenever anything came up the contractor would call me and walk me through my options. The process was extremely helpful, because we were able to see where our initial plans required a litte adjusting to accomodate for structural limitations. Misha was very frank and honest and was very helpful throughout. At the end, we ended up more than doubling our initial scope of work (decision made by us, not the contractor), but the cost stayed pretty much the same because Misha showed us areas where we could save. I would highly recommend Misha's Home Improvement to anyone looking for a contractor.

We live in a condo and, while we were on vacation, a flood in our neighbor's unit penetrated into our unit under our shared drywall and ruined part of that wall and the floor in our unit. The drywall had to be partially reconstructed and the affected hardwood floor taken up and replaced with tile. This was a particularly challenging piece of work since the existing hardwood damaged by the flood was attached to the underfloor with incredibly strong glue that had to be removed practically inch by inch, and the surface rendered level and smooth. Laying the replacement tile presented its own challenges in order to compensate for differences in thickness and in order to arrange the pieces in such a way that the natural patterns of the stone were complementary. In addition, the tile adjoined existing hardwood and existing tile, so it was a challenge to lay the new tile so that it was level with the existing floor. This is extremely exacting work, and requires an expert eye and meticulous attention to detail, as well as great patience. Misha's crew exhibited all of these qualities combined with unfailing good humor and professionalism. They take great pride in their work and are true craftsmen, which really shows in the quality of their work. In addition, Misha always has good advice on different ways to approach repair and remodeling problems, with the pros and cons and short-term costs and long-term effects of each option. This really made us feel like partners in the enterprise, and we were enormously pleased with the results. Note - Misha has done work for us before in our condo (extensive bathroom remodeling) and, before that, he performed a major remodeling effort on a rental property of ours which had been incompetently rehabbed by someone else, causing us numerous structural and mechanical problems. Misha and his crew resolved all of these problems and proactively identified and corrected other issues which would have contributed to future problems (e.g. leaks). Finally - like many people, we have had a number of bad experiences with contractors who - as we generally found out when it was too late - were not competent to perform the work and because of this often laid the groundwork for future problems. Not being professionals in this area ourselves, we were unable to spot these problems during implementation, but had to pay for the consequences later. Misha's work has always withstood the test of time, and we have come to trust him completely. It's no exaggeration to say that we would not consider hiring anyone else to do our work - and, of course, we recommend him without reservation to anyone else needing any kind of repair and remodeling work.
Description of Work: Move out all furniture from areas to be repaired. Remove water-damaged floor and wall, taking up existing glued-down hardwood and preparing under-floor surface, which was not level. Lay new tile in such a way that it was level and fit in well with adjacent flooring, cutting tile to customize fit where necessary. Replace damaged drywall and repaint whole wall, matching custom color. Replace baseboard and quarter-round moulding. Daily clean-up, final clean-up and replacement of furniture.

Misha was very understanding and still helped us with some ideas.
Description of Work: Misha was very accommodating and had some great ideas. The price was just out of the range we wanted to spend and we are going to do most of the work ourselves. I would recommend talking to Misha and have him give an estimate.

I received an estimate to finish a laundry room, remodel a bathroom and create a new master bath from a walk in closet. The estimate was a good $10,000 less than others and was very detailed with regards to cost of materials and labor. Misha required only 1/3 down to begin the work, 1/3 when the work was half done, and the final payment after completion of the job. The laundry room was only studs and insulation when his workers started. It is now a beautiful room, with tiled floors, recessed lighting and all new plumbing for the washer and dryer. An additional 2 outlets were also put in. I was so happy with the final results. The master bath is amazing. The closet had to be totally gutted for the installation of the plumbing lines, electrical and fan vent in the roof. New insulation was put in. The shower has a bench and built in shelf, recessed lighting above and tiles to the ceiling with a decorative border. Additionally the vanity and toilet were installed with expertise. The gentlemen who completed the work were extremely professional and polite. They worked long hours and were very responsible. Misha stopped by daily to inquire about my thoughts and ideas, and to inspect the word completed that day. The remodeled bathroom turned out great as well ; new tub, tiles walls and floor, vanity, toilet, hardware, mirror, lighting and medicine cabinet.

Job was completed on time and on schedule. Very good work.
Description of Work: Misha is a great professional. Great work.
To begin with, this was our first renovation project. So, we had a lot of questions. Misha was very patient in answering our questions. He made suggestions when he thought we would like something better (like the size of the mirror, etc.) Misha told us he use to build homes and has 20 plus years experience. If you have never had a renovation before, nothing prepares you for the dust that comes from it. Misha's crew did their best to use plastic sheeting to mitigate the spread of the dust during demolition. In fact at the end of each day, they did their best to clean up and put away their tools, so that we could move freely through the area each night and we did not need to worry about what our cats were getting into. Their tile work is impeccable. Lasha did a masterful job and one cannot find fault in his work. The lines are straight and the caulking is color coordinated. The entire bathroom turned out beautifully. It is still a very small room, and now looking back, I am sure that if we planned it better, Misha probably could have built us a new bathroom in our bedroom making the other bathroom a powder room. The doors are beautiful and work well. If one was to look for any fault in the job, it is very difficult to communicate with Misha's workers as they are limited in their English. However, Misha is not and if I could not communicate with the men, Misha always made himself available to me on his phone. My husband and I both work, we were not able to stay home with them. They proved to be honost hard working people that respected our home and our belongings. We will probably call on them agaiin for our next set of renovations.
Description of Work: We had our first floor bathroom replaced. We have a 30 year old house that does not have an ensuite bathroom. The first floor bathroom is the master bathroom and the bathroom our guests use when visiting. It is a very small under the stair bathroom. Misha's crew tore out the entire bathroom down to the studs and replaced the walls, removed a closet that was taking up space in the bathroom, installed a whirlpool tub, a toilet, European tile on the floor and around the tub, a new vanity and ligting. They had to move the plumbing for the vanity. They also installed a new ceiling with a very quiet exhaust fan. In addition to the bathroom, we had all of our interior entry way doors and frames replaced along with 3 closet doors with bi fold doors. These were all painted and new doorknobs were installed. Except for the doors and the toilet, I ordered everything else through Home Depot and had them delivered to our house. Misha's people were there to receive the items as they came in. This was a cost saving as we were able to avoid the additional stepped up price the showrooms place on these items.

Misha repaired water damage from a sewer line blockage that caused a washing machine to overflow through a toilet in a property I'm leasing out. His estimate was in line with the insurance company's on the first try, and he was even willing to start the work on short notice, despite it being a weekend. My tenant was extremely happy with the work, and I've also looked at it myself and am completely satisfied.

Their work is impeccable. They were always courteous, punctual, knowledgeable, and professional. We had several estimates before the work was started, and they were by far the most reasonable. They were always respectful of our home, and paid particular attention to protecting areas that they were not working in (other rooms, carpeting on stairs, etc.) Misha and all of his workers are from countries that used to be part of the Soviet Union (Russia, Soviet Georgia, Belarus, etc.) Misha has been in the US for over 20 years, is now a US citizen, and his English is very understandable. He is a pleasure to talk to and is very congenial. All of his crew speak and understand varying degrees of English, but all of them can communicate well enough to get the job done. One of the workers in particular, Andrey, did the majority of the work on the bathroom including plumbing, painting, tile, moulding, and more. Honestly, he worked a little slowly but this is because he is a perfectionist. He contemplated every detail before completing a task, and made sure to check with me at every decision point, providing options and recommendations. It was a very interactive and collaborative effort. I know that I can be a difficult customer to please at times. I am a perfectionist. Even though I work with computers for a living, I feel very comfortable doing plumbing, electrical, framing, tile, painting, and other things around the house. I have done a lot of these things over the years, and they have turned out well. This was just too much work for one man to do part time. I hate to pay someone else to do a job that I can do better myself, mainly because I know that I care more about my house than someone else, and I take pride in showing off my talents to friends and family. I can honestly say that this was money well spent. I could not have imagined how well these projects would turn out. If only the remainder of my 22 year old house could measure up. I feel like I need to send pictures into Better Homes and Gardens magazine.
Description of Work: We had work done in several areas of our home. Let's start with the small stuff. They replaced a vent fan in the powder room. They also replaced about 20 floor tiles in our kitchen because we were remodeling the room using a different contractor who primarily did just custom cabinets. They also replaced an oak railing separating the kitchen from the family room with a knee wall, pillars, and a bulkhead with lighting. They installed a section of wall with a door between our master bedroom and our sitting room to create a dressing room. They installed lighting in the dressing room. They replaced old smoke detectors and installed several additional ones. They added insulation in the attic. Now for the big stuff. They removed a walk-in closet to expand the size of the master bathroom. The bathroom was totally gutted and rebuilt. They installed a whirlpool tub, a large tiled shower, a new linen closet, relocated the toilet, installed new lighting and vent fans, and installed wall and floor tile. They painted all surfaces they built or disturbed. They did all of the necessary plumbing and electrical work.
