Great team. Everyone from the owner to the onsite workers were very professional, punctionual, and courteous. The original estimate visit even noted a loose railing attachment and went into detail on how they would fix it. They were very specific on what they were doing and why, which was much more than the other estimators. The work is excellent, the staining looks great, and couldn't be happier.

We Restore Decks did a great job. The quality of the work was high and they were friendly and professional. Jonathan was great to work with. They do a lot more than pressure wash and then restain. I would recommend them to anyone who wants their deck fully restored.

When we purchased our home several years ago, our deck had been improperly stained and/or painted by a prior owner. After our first winter, the deck peeled badly leading to a frustrating cycle of scraping and repainting over a two year period in an attempt to find a product that would stick to the surface and not continue to peel. When we me with Jonathan, we were hoping for a more permanent solution to the mess that our deck had become. At Jonathan's suggestion, we decided to replace the floorboards and rebuild as outlined above. What was wonderful about working with Jonathan and his skilled group of artisans is their flexibility and willingness to incorporate our design ideas into their work. We were consulted at every step of the process and the result is a beautiful deck area that is exactly what we wanted. Lead carpenter Laszlo can do anything with wood! He recreated a curved hand railing out of multiple layers of cedar to replace the old rotted one and it is perfect! HIs personal pride in his work and attention to detail resulted in a finished product that is both beautiful and functional. Jack-of-all-trades Scott successfully untangled and streamlined the existing lighting/wiring and augmented it to create beautiful lighting/patterns that illuminate and accent the deck and stairs. He was also given the unenviable task of digging out 12 rotten support pillars and replacing them with new concrete footers. No problem. If additional help was need, Ray or Kevin came to the rescue to fill in as needed to help bring the project to life. Jonathan and crew did a number of things well beyond the actual work: Overall - We Restore Decks under-promised and over-delivered. Time and again, little things that would make the project better were done, although not discussed in the initial scope of work. This is rare. Communication - Jonathan set the example for his team by communicating early and often. They told you what they were going to do and when, and if plans changed, they communicated about that as well. Clean Up - It is never easy to have messy construction work done in or outside of your home. This inconvenience was minimized by the extreme care taken by each person to clean up at the end of every day. This is huge for a homeowner. Excellent Work for a Fair Price - In general, we believe that we were treated very fairly throughout the process. When the unexpected happened (rotted support pillars) as it always does in any renovation, Jonathan provided us with options that were fair and reasonable. This is something which we value in a contractor and which lays the foundation for working together in the future. Obviously, we highly recommend Jonathan and his We Restore Decks crew!!

From first contact, Jonathan was incredibly responsive and professional. He provided an accurate in-person evaluation and estimate, and the work was all completed to a perfect standard. The crew got the deck back to a beautiful condition, and left no trace of their work behind. It was like they were never there, other than a transformed porch. The powerwashing of the house and gutters, while more basic, was also done to a high standard.

Contract signed 18 April 2016 with one third payment paid in amount of $850. Two carpenters , one named (Mickey) came on 10 May 2016 and rebuilt two sections of stairs. Stairs outside of my kitchen door and second stair on side of my deck. They were given second check for $825. . First week of June 2016 Alberto came to nail loose boards and stain deck. I called Jonathan back as sections of deck was warped and some sections of deck stain were missed. The carpenters also did not replace my latus on each side of the stairs outside of my kitchen door. Alberto came back to touch up on the stains. I pointed out a spit new board from my side stairs. He took a picture and measurements. Jonathan was to replace and paint stair board and latus. Jonathan and another worker came to my home on Saturday June 25, 2016 to complete the job. I looked out of my window and saw the worker putting eight nails in split nail board. I went out and questioned what was happening. Jonathan admitted he forgot to bring another new board but this was his resolution. I told him I wanted the new board. I asked him to bring the new board back on Monday and he would receive his final check. He refused. He became verbally abusive and even called me silly. He stated "I only charged you $2,500". I asked him to leave my property multiple times. He stated he wanted his payment. My two grown sons came out of my house and one spoke to him and asked him to leave as well because I was so upset. I asked the other worker to put the split nail board back in place, paid Jonathan his last check and asked him to leave my property. I felt threatened and afraid. I was going to call the police if he did not leave my property. I paid him to make him leave. The board step still looks of poor repair. Jonathan cashed my last check $825. I hope no one else has to go through this type of experience from a contractor on their own property. I took multiple pictures .

Beautiful job. The stain they used was Olympic Maximum cedar. It restored the deck to new. I was worried the pressure washing would raise the grain and create splinters, and it did, but the sanding smoothed it all out. The work the invested in it was truly amazing and justified the price.

Professional workmanship, attention to detail...did not consider job complete until we were thoroughly satisfied. Highly recommend.

It went great. Jonathan is extremely knowledgeable about decks. His staff were all respectful and worked late. Jonathan came back a week after job was complete just to make sure everything was to our liking.

They provided great service from the beginning during the quote. The owner checked out our deck and fence and provided his assesment of the best way to restore our deck. They were able to restore the existing wood and built a new fence and railing. It was hard to find one company that did it all. For budget reasons we chose to restore our existing deck rather than replace and we couldn't be happier with the results. The deck and front porch were transformed and it is a great place to hang out. Jonathan and his team are very professional and do great work. His carpenter is very talented! I would recommend this company to our neighbors and friends.

Once it was done, after several unfortunate weeks of rain which delayed all outside work, we were very pleased, The work was started a couple of weeks ago when the decks and stairs were chemically stripped and finally finished this past week when all else was done. The company's owner, Jonathan Shambarger, was very professional and courteous, as were the people who worked with him. The price was not the least expensive around, but definitely fair and we thought a good value.

Great! They were very good did everything that was asked of them. Even came back and put my furniture back up on my deck. Love what they did.

When I returned home from work on the day that the deck was "repaired," I saw that the bottom rail was being propped up by a small block of wood. I emailed Mr. Shambarger to find out if this was meant to be a permanent solution to the problem. He replied that his worker decided on this course of action because a replacement rail would most likely sag again. I emailed him to say that this solution was not acceptable to me and asked why he couldn't replace the sagging rail with one that matches the section of the same length immediately adjacent to it, which is not sagging. That was five days ago. I have as yet received no response from Mr. Shambarger. (See our most recent exchange of emails below.) My wife and I had waited years before we could afford to have have our previous rotting deck replaced and reviewed several companies to do the work for us. After careful consideration, in the end we chose to give our money and our trust to Mr. Shambarger. Unfortunately, we continue to find reasons to regret this decision. In his response to our initial unfavorable review, Mr. Shambarger wrote "We hope that in the end and over the years to come, you will greatly appreciate the quality and care we poured into your new deck." I was planning on having Kevin come by and stain the block of wood. Does this mean that although the problem seems to be one of "poor installation of new materials including wood resulting in" ... "a major difference in overall niceness as compared to when the work was originally performed/installed," your either can't install a rail that matches the other section or won't because the service warranty only includes labor and not materials? I wouldn't have found it acceptable for the bottom rail to be supported by a block of wood in the original construction, and I don't consider it an acceptable solution now.

Jonathan and his team were great. They were on time and provided a great product. They were clean, professional and and the quality of work was outstanding.

Armando and his crew arrived as scheduled and worked tirelessly for three days to give us a sparkling, like-new deck and walk-out that exceeded our expectations. The owner, Jonathan, spent a great deal of time with us a few days prior to the work in order to assure that our every wish was met. The final price was very affordable and we will definitely call WE RESTORE DECKS again in the future.

Overall the job went smoothly. The workers were on time, courteous, hard-working, and English speaking (which I always appreciate in the event that I have to communicate on some point). The stain was a little darker than I had in mind but it looks good. We have had a lot of rain lately and the water has been beading up nicely.

Thoroughly pleased with the entire process. This was a major project, involving various crews that came out to work on it. Every person to a man was professional and approachable, both in terms of explaining/answering questions, as well as to continually ask for our input to ensure all elements of the project were to our satisfaction. It's clear that they all take pride in their work and stand behind it. There were a few things that did need to be tweaked (for example, some issues where the lumber's drying caused gaps/mis-alignment), and Jonathan never hesitated to see that they were re-worked properly - in some cases, beyond what I was asking for. The deck looks absolutely beautiful now, and we will continue to use them for seasonal maintenance. We would not hesitate to recommend them.

Woody spent at least 90 minutes with us answering questions and making recommendations. We were favorably impressed. Unfortunately that was the last time we had a favorable impression. At the end of our discussion, he promised to have a full proposal to us by Friday of that week (in three days). We did not hear from him on Friday, nor anytime the next week. On August 21, more than two weeks after the proposal was promised I called and spoke with Woody. After a minute he recalled who I was and our discussion in great detail. He was "surprised" he'd not sent the proposal, checked his records and apologized profusely. He promised I'd get the proposal the next day. Nothing from Woody. It is now September 9 and I've heard nothing back from Woody or any of his colleagues. Regardless of what the reviews say, I would highly recommend NOT contacting We Restore Decks based on our very poor experience. This is the only time we've had such a poor level of service/response from an Angie's list company.

This was a tough job and it required multiple visits and a lot of effort. We Restore Decks was up to the challenge and did what it took to get the job done. Your truesatisfaction is their to goal and the achieved it with us and our deck.

From first contact through the estimating and actual work, everything was top notch. Salesman was very thorough in explanation of what could be done with all the pros and cons of each option. Ultimately decided that I would tear down and replace all the railing myself to eliminate all the minute stripping and sanding which resulted in a savings of half the original estimate. When I was ready they came out and worked diligently for 3 days. He cleaned up afterwards and there was not a scrap or over-spray to be found. the deck looks wonderful and I have received several compliments on it. we Restore Decks is not the cheapest game in town, but this kind of quality is worth every cent.

Provider called and texted several time about coming to give an estimate. Person never showed up even after they rescheduled twice. I texted them and asked if they got a chance to look at my deck and when they were sending the estimate that was promised, but never got a response.

The foundation was completely rebuilt, new acetylated pine floor installed, new framing and super screen "screen-eze" system installed. He also added and masterfully installed ledge, a thick cedar screen door, repainted the back wall, removed ALL debris, built a front landing with one step down and took care of all the little details along the way. The stain he uses is really, really nice. Ours took a couple of applications but it came out heavenly! We had some minor, typical issues with small items but overall he did a fantastic job and we keep telling ourselves how glad that we did this!

Submitted a request for an estimate and received and automatic response that "We have received your request and will be in touch with you as soon as possible." It has been almost two weeks and I have yet to receive any response. Two weeks is not "as soon as possible" unless the company is on vacation - in which case they should revise the automatic message response.
