Stewart Lawn & Landscaping

We use the house on the weekends and last season all the vegetables disappeared from 8 Raised beds and 2 fruit trees were picked clean. I wasn't sure who it was so I didn't address it. This year I happened to be home when they came and caught them picking everything that was ripe. I notified the company and terminated the service.

Stewart Lawn & Landscaping were timely. We haven't used them, though. Their prices are average. Nothing was good or bad. They were fine. We probably might have gone with them, in fact. I'm not sure. Someone else interceded and did the work for us so far. One of our family members came over and did all those things. So we didn't hire anybody. That's the reason why we didn't do it.

I used Them about a week ago. They initially came and didn't do the correct landscaping job. They wouldn't text the initial job or they would charge us more so we had a halfway done job and then when we came back, they would've charge us more to fix it. I called them several times but they won't call me back. We were all very dissatisfied with them.

This is the first and last time I use this company. I was dissatisfied with this company. I purchased 750 square feet of premium mulch on 4/18/13. They could not come to my home to evaluate until May 9th. At that time, I paid $120 additional for weeding and pruning. ( Check given at that time). Chris informed me that he could mulch my two front beds, two side beds, and a large tree in the front of the yard. I thought he said this was 350 feet, so I called the next day to comment that any remaining mulch could be added around other trees in my back yard. I received an e-mail that they would complete the job on March31st. I took that day off in anticipation of being home when they came. I received a message the previous Thursday (May 23, 2013) that they would be at my house the next morning. Too late for me to take off work, I thought I could trust them to do a good job. I was disappointed when I got home and the tree was not mulched, the front and side beds looked okay, but the amount of mulch looked skimpy. I could have easily purchased about 6 bags of mulch at BJ's and do the same job. My rose bushes were barely trimmed, and I already have weeds popping up from where they were supposed to have weeded. I called twice ( the first time was the next working day). I was told they would send a quality control person to review the work--never happened. Tired of waiting for them to respond, I decided to kiss my $320 goodbye and finally write my review. I will not use or recommend this company and will notify BBB and register a complaint. Too late for me, but not for others. So much for a " deal of the day"

Crew arrived on time and completed work as asked. They also planted trees that I provided. After almost 2 months the plantings look nice.

They are very efficient and leave the yard looking terrific. I first met with a gentleman who walked around the yard and discussed what I wanted done. I was impressed that he knew the names of everything that was already there and he made suggestions. Then the crew came and trimmed all the bushes, weeded, trenched the edge and put down mulch. Every other week a crew comes and cuts the grass and does anything needed to keep the landscaping up. I also have them doing the six step program for my lawn. The crew is Spanish speaking but speaks English very well and we have no problems communicating. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Stewart--they are very professional. I paid a third of the cost for the spring cleanup up front and was billed for the rest after it was completed. I am billed monthly for the lawn. They didn't try to pressure me to sign up for extra things that I didn't need--in fact, they suggested every other week rather than weekly service.

Wow....The 'F' goes to the management/communication of the quoted project to the guys in the field actually doing the work. Received a call from my sister-in-law around lunch time stating that the crew had arrived, BUT.... Were they to do both sides or just one side of the driveway?????....This obviously set off the red flags and I made a detour for lunch. Upon arrival, the 3 man crew had only 'scraped' off the dead grass and weeds and had already begun 'planting' the new perennials. The only dirt removed was that of the holes for the plants. I spoke to one gentleman and I asked him to stop because these plants would die. I showed him the written proposal to confirm. I then called the main office and reached Stacey. I explained the situation and she 'kinda' didn't want to deal with it until I said I have the proposal in front of me and it Clearly states, remove 6" of clay, replace with new soil, etc....she found it and said she would call the rep. In the mean time, while eating lunch and watching/waiting for resolution, the guys seemed agitated and then began grabbing all the plants and loaded them back in their truck. When I went back outside to ask, they simply said.. "We don't have any topsoil..." So they were prepared to leave. NICE. The crew leader gave me the number for the rep and I called. Got vmail. A few minutes later a 'supervisor' finally showed up, spent about 15 minutes ascertaining the situation and making calls. He came to the door and said they would get it done today. I stayed for a little while to make sure they were indeed removing the bad dirt. Satisfied, I went back to work. Upon arriving home, all looked as it should. The crew were obviously quite unprepared for the job at hand. They did not know they were to remove 6" of the clay/sand....They did not even have new soil to replace what was removed..... After given direction and the 'equipment' to finish, it turned out ok. I suspect about 6 plants or so to die due to all the handling, planting, removing, loading, unloading and replanting. I watered them again this evening.

They did a great job, cleaned up well after finishing, and I would highly recommend them to others

The quality of their work was really good. You could tell they've been doing it for a long time. They even left the extra mulch with us. There was a little mixup, they came a day early with the mulch. But we were able to resolve it.

Was done while we were out of town service was as advertised. Good company. We signed up for regular service. Very impressed

Brandon arrived as scheduled and provided estimate in the time he said he would. Crew arrived on April 2, 2013 as scheduled to begin the work. They had a color drawing showing the damaged areas but they didn't appear to understand what was required. I walked the area and explained what was to be done. A power rake was used although it barely touched the soil (idea is to de-thatch) and what was pulled up was raked and removed. Top soil was then taken from the truck (loose top soil) and the 3-man crew started to spread it into the ruts. The quality of the 'top soil' was extremely poor (tree remnants the size of small limbs, rocks, etc mixed with the soil) so I asked them to stop and to get better quality top soil. I told their supervisor that it appeared to be fill dirt, not top soil. The crew lead went to a local garden center and returned with better quality soil to finish the job. I inspected the area where the stump grindings were to be removed and noted to the crew leader that the grindings weren't removed deep enough (would expect at least 4 inches). The project manager arrived and, after a short discussion, we finally agreed that grass would not grow on grindings (the wood would leach the nitrogen from the soil and prevent grass from growing). The crew returned on April 3, removed the grindings from an area approx. 20' x 10', used a second load of top soil from local garden center. The crew spread what appeared to be a mixture of fertilizer and limestone, racked into the soil and then applied seed (tall fescue by Rebel). Straw was then applied and I began my twice a day watering. May 1, I called Stewart to let them know the large area where the grindings had been removed and filled with top soil had become a depression and when I walked on it, my feet sank approx. 2-4". The project manager came after my second call on May 9 (appears the wrong project manager was notified after my first call). He called to let me know a crew would be scheduled on 'the board' to fix the problem. A 3-person crew appeared May 14 (I wasn't called but that was Okay) and was ready to fix the problem. They did not have a soil tamper (compact the soil), called another crew without any luck. I told them to return when they had a tamper. The crew leader said he talked to the project manager who instructed the 3 of them to 'use their feet to stomp down the soil'. Well, that didn't pass muster with me and I told them to leave and tell their project manager to return when a tamper was available. They returned next day, May 15, with excellent quality top soil (dark), tamped it down, seeded and placed straw down. I'm still watering the last repaired area (Rebel seed takes up to 21 days to germinate). I also augmented the seed (~ 10 pounds of Rebel) put down on April 2 since I had large bare spots after 3 weeks of watering. On April 27 took pictures with my iPad as well as a walking video tour of the whole area. I used Stewart simply because of my perceived reputation of them based on the number of their trucks on the road. A neighbor used Steward for a large paver area and raised fire pit; looked like they did a great job so I thought I made the right selection. At one point I was told the job was under a budget. I wasn't concerned with the 'budget', only concerned with doing the job as proposed. Increasing the job margin by decreasing the cost of material and labor just didn't work for me. I would note that both crews worked very hard each time and I commend them for doing a hard job with a not happy customer. They were always polite and did the best job they could without direct supervision. I would suggest Stewart hold some type of pre-job briefings with their crews before sending them out to perform this type of work.

I have had a great experience with them. They have been wonderful. There is nothing that I dislike about their service. They came out right away to give me an estimate on the work that I wanted to have done. They have been here even in the rain to cut the grass when they were supposed to come. I have been very pleased with their services. They come out every week. They just do grass cutting and trimming.

They made several suggestions about what we should do or not do to make our yard more attractive and functional. Their estimate was fair, and work was scheduled and completed to meet to our constraints. The people who came to do the work were knowledgeable, courteous, and responsive. The work was excellent and the beds looked very attractive when they were finished. We certainly will call them again.

Took a bit longer to schedule service than we would have preferred, but they did a great job. Terrific value - very happy!

Once we agreed it seemed to be a while (3 weeks ?) before the work was done. The job was well done. They crew was careful about not damaging the plants in the beds and the result looked very good. We would use them again.

It went great. We have used them for a year now and our lawn has never looked better. Also, they came out to replace a few plants that had died at no extra cost to us. Whenever I call them, they are very courteous and get back to me right away with answers to my questions. I will definitely use them next year when we landscape out backyard and have recommended them to several of my neighbors who have commented on how great our yard looks!

They did a nice work. They were creative. We will use them in the future.

Requested an estimate for weekly grass cutting as well as spring clean up. The price for the weekly cutting was quoted at $40/week. For each of the last four weeks, Stewart Lawn & Landscaping has shown up (twice in the rain) and performed the requested services. We are very pleased with the services provided. Everyone has been very helpful! Great job! Would definitely recommend Stewart Lawn & Landscaping to friends and family.

Used an Angie's List coupon to buy some mulch. Stewart was responsive in asking to schedule an appointment to assess our yard. The yard was assessed but then it was very difficult to get them to actually mulch the yard. Phone calls were made, dates were scheduled, I weeded and edged, they didn't post, I called, they scheduled, they didn't post and didn't call to say they weren't going to post. We did get our mulch a month after the coupon purchase.

Overall good experience and would use them again. However, we had a few miscommunication issues regarding scheduling. Free estimate was scheduled quickly and was thoughtful and thorough. The hill was right on our property line. We wanted to be here when they began work so that we were sure the project didn't cross into our neighbor's property. We were told they'd come Monday and Tuesday, but may be rescheduled due to rain. My husband went to a lot of effort to rearrange his work schedule to be home. Monday afternoon when they still weren't here he called and was told that we were rescheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. However, no one informed us ahead of time. They emailed us they were coming Tuesday morning first thing. However, they didn't arrive until about 11:30. This also lead to some schedule headaches for us. The work itself was done well and exactly what we asked for.

This is not working out for me. It's more than?I wanted to spend. There were no issues,?I just misjudged how much the cost would be. They were?very professional, and very courteous. They kept calling me to schedule the appointment.?I probably would call them again.

I bought the big deal for much and meant to call and schedule an appointment. After a couple days we missed a call to call them back to set up a time to have someone come by and check what we need and to see if the mulch was sufficient. I was not able to call them back for a while and eventually received an email asking me to call them. I was still not able to find time to call so I emailed them back asking them to call me at my work number but got no response to my email and no calls at work. Eventually we were able to call them back and set up an appointment. The man showed up early and was very professional and let us know what plants needed caring. We are currently waiting to find out when they'll be stopping by for service.

Difficult to deal with owner
