Their initial quote was high, but it came down to my insurance when I told them what I would pay. They were extremely fast and neat. I didn’t have any problem with them. The price came down to what I needed.

They promptly scheduled an appointment with me at our home to view the dead tree and then showed up on time. I met with them in person to ensure that we had a common understanding of the scope of work on which their bid would be based. I received bids from four companies. Richard's Tree Service's bid was not the lowest, but it was very competitive. After I verbally accepted their bid, they e-mailed me a contract in that amount. We agreed on a date the following week for the work. They showed up right on time, promptly completed the work, cleaned up the work site, and departed. They were very pleasant to work with.

We needed to have a medium height tree that was starting to lean towards the house removed, as well as getting some old stumps removed to expand our garden space. We also inherited an old pile of firewood (about half a cord) from the previous owners that was now not useable. Called the company and the owner, Richard, was in our neighborhood on a job. He came out and gave us an estimate within an hour of my initial call. His estimate was exactly in line with what we had previously paid for similar work the previous year. He told us they could work us in during the following morning and would mail us our bill, as we work early hours and would not be around in the morning to oversee the work. I was at work while the crew completed the work, but they did an exceptional job. The tree was cut almost flush to the ground as we asked, and the other stumps were completely ground up and all the chips and sawdust was removed. They also removed all the old firewood as promised. Everything was completed within 24 hours of my original call for an estimate. I've never had a company complete a job that quickly. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone needing any kind of tree care work and will certainly call again.

Richard's original estimate was nearly $1,000 more than 2 other estimates from contractors on Angie's List. I wanted to use Richard, so called to see if they could work any on the price. Richard was willing to come down to $1700 ($200 over the other 2 estimates), and because I know his work and like his philosophy (he won't remove a tree if it isn't dead or otherwise some kind of hazard), and believes in conservation and native planting. The work was scheduled about 2 weeks out, but then they called to see if they could come in two days (yes). Arrived promptly at 7:30 A.M., worked diligently for several hours. One of the workmen (there were several) came to me with an example of two twigs off one of the trees being trimmed. He explained that the color and bud condition on each branch indicated that one was healthy, and the other was dying, meaning that the overall health of this tree might also be in jeopardy. He thought perhaps tree feeding would help, but was not sure. He was going to take the samples back to Richard (owner) and have Richard call me. They cleaned up the yard and left no mess at all, except for some sawdust (not much) and the pieces of dead tree trunk (which I want).
