Precision Painting

My home had not been painted in quite a while. I was going to try to do this myself because I am a good painter, but I just did not have enough time. Drew did a good job describing what he would do in terms of preparation work, which is the most important part of a paint job. I could also tell he understood paint and painting. His quoted price seemed fair for the amount of work and so I hired him. He did a spectacular job. He prepared the surfaces better than even I would have. Great job overall. Good dude. Very professional.

Shawn and his crew provided excellent work and value for money. After receiving an estimate, Shawn waited while we got ourselves organized, and quickly agreed to a schedule start date. The work was done correctly the first time, exactly as specified. We are very happy with the outcome. Shawn was on site periodically to check on the work, but his workers seemed motivated, and very skilled. Not only did they do all of the work we requested, but they also cleaned up after themselves, and waited for me to get home so that we could do a post-project walk through. These guys are professionals in every way. I highly recommend them and would rehire them if we need any work done in the future.

I did not use them. They seemed very professional. They were punctual. I still haven’t got the work done. It wasn’t my number one priority in terms of spending money on. I would definitely consider them if I decided to go ahead and do that work. The price seemed a little high, but I didn’t get that many additional other quotes. They seemed to really know what they were doing.

They are very trustworthy and do a great job. He is also very reasonably priced.

Drew was very easy to work with. He was timely with setting up an appointment for an estimate. He was thorough and helpful about choosing type of paint and clarifying what we wanted done. Work was completed in the estimated time. They were careful and left everything clean and put away at the end of the day. No problems at all.

Excellent from estimate to completion. I'd originally planned to do it myself but.... Not only did I save time by having Drew do it, but he also did a far better job than I was capable of doing. He also offered excellent advice in terms of the available products for the job. Overall it was well worth it to hire him.

Did a great job, was on time and within the time frame quoted and had good communication with us every day. Very pleased with the work and would definitely use again and recommend to friends.

he was very nice, punctual, professional, finished the work on time. the only negative was he did not have a ladder tall enough to reach the tip top of our chimney(which was really not noticeable to anyone but us) so a small portion could not be painted. would still highly recommend him.

Precision Painting proprietor Drew Southard, who performed the work in my condo, was responsive, professional, conscientious, and skilled. He came to my home to quote the job several days in advance, purchased the paint using the color numbers I had given him, and showed up promptly to do the work (the Monday after the flood!) after calling to confirm. The wallpaper turned out to be very difficult to remove, but Drew was meticulous and persistent. The first day, he removed all the wallpaper, repaired the drywall, and began painting. It quickly became apparent to us both that the paint was much darker than it was supposed to be. He stopped painting to resolve this problem, which was not his error but still required him to make a second trip to the paint store. The second day, he completed the dining room painting and did a terrific job - it looks absolutely wonderful. He was also planning to do the ceiling repair work that day, but he couldn't because the man I'd hired to replace the fixtures had postponed due to the flood. Drew was very accommodating and offered to come back to fix the ceilings whenever it was convenient for me - which, as it turned out, was almost a month later. The ceiling repair and painting around the two light fixtures look great, too. Next on my wish list are my bathroom and kitchen, and Precision Painting is already working on those quotes!

Everything went very well. I called him on the spur of the moment. He was able to come right away and give me an estimate, then started the project the next day. He was punctual and pleasant to deal with. I had a question about an area that he painted. He came quickly back to make adjustments to the area in question. It was very important to him to clean-up any messes that he made. My furniture and floor were protected very well.

Drew was prompt and professional and I would recommend him highly.

This is the fourth job we've had Drew complete for us. He has previously painted our living room and dining room (job 1), house exterior (job 2), master bath and accent wall in living room (job 3), and this last job (#4). He has been great on all jobs. We enjoy Drew's personality and his willingness to work around our schedules and availability. As always, he was professional, punctual, and careful in his work.

Initial painting went well, but took much longer then anticipated. Ad implies this is a 'company'. Actually one owner and one employee. Misjudged time it would take to paint condo. Helpful in replacing air vents. Master bathroom ceiling paint bubbled; after 2 weeks repainted but poorly done job as there is a 'box effect' on ceiling (2 different color paints). Paint still bubbling after a month and contractor non-responsive to request for another repaint. Recommend final payments not be made until customer satisfied with work.

Excellent results that met my requirements - as resale unit, I wanted adequate but not perfect job for financial reasons. I wanted to use someone local. During estimate process, Drew Southard outlined what was needed to do a complete job, and what alternative scopes of work were. We discussed pros and cons of each and I decided. He and his assistant spent two days thoroughly cleaning, prepping and painting the entire 1BR apartment.. Result was fully satisfying.

Arrived at the appointed time, and covered the floors and other furniture; did the necessary prep work. Offered to help, since he was a one man show. But my assistance was not necessary. Offered to provide drinks etc in the house. Performed as requested and did not engage in unnecessary conversations.

Had a very good experience. Drew was able to come on short notice and complete this painting job. He kept to a very tight schedule and performed excellent work. Would definitely recommend to other customers.

Excellent! We worked under a tight schedule, and Drew was able to give us an estimate on the same day and start the work the following day. He and his worker were professional, worked hard, and cleaned after themselves. They were also nice and polite. Drew even put up with our whims when we decided to change a color halfway down the wall... Overall, we had a very good experience. We highly recommend Precision Painting.

The quality of the work was very mediocre. I had to go back and point out to the painter areas that were not properly covered. I used a red paint in the bathroom and it wasn?t properly covered at all. I asked him to replace some ceiling tiles and he told me at the last minute that he could not complete the work because he didn?t have any knowledge about moving electrical cords. He was actually over paid on one level because we set a fee for all of the work, but it wasn?t all done. He is one person I would not use again for sure.

Excellent. We communicated via email as to date, time and colors. He showed up first thing in the morning and worked practically without break, his choice. In the end, the walls turned out better than we hoped. The trim was just right.

The work went very well. This is the second job that we have hired Drew to complete. He is very professional and friendly. The weather was highly uncooperative the first week (daily rain) and Drew worked around it as much as possible, and then was able to finish the job the second week during better weather. The paint job looks great!

Drew Southard came to our home on June 24 to give us an estimate for interior painting of our house. Our house is almost 70 years old and has not been painted in some time, so we knew the job would require extensive prep work. After 3 days, Mr. Southard sent us an e-mail apologizing for the delay and saying that his laptop had been stolen. (The delay was no problem for us; it's just worth noting that this is a similar pattern to what another post on Angie's list describes.) He then said he was not comfortable taking the job, as he has more experience with drywall than plaster. I can appreciate his honesty if he does not feel he is the man for the job, but it would seem to me that experience with plaster would be part of his line of work.

Drew arranged to offer a quote within a day or so of my call. He was on time for the quote, and very polite. We asked him to quote painting the house as well as priming and painting a new shed that we had built. His estimate arrived via e-mail, and was very close to other estimates we had received. When I called to arrange for him to paint the house only he picked up a sample of some siding we were trying to match the color to that Saturday and was able to start painting within a week. On the first day of the job I explained that my husband had started to paint the shed himself but just couldn't find the time to finish it. Drew was very gracious in changing the scope of the work at the last minute and adjusted the price accordingly. Drew arrived every day when he said he would, at about 9 am. He was very professional, quick, and clean. I stay at home with my infant daughter, so it is important to me that contractors arrive when they say they will and that I am comfortable with them being in and around my house. I felt very comfortable having Drew around. We struggled with some inclimate weather, but he worked through the weekend to make up the time lost. On the one day it was obvious he would not be able to even start painting due to rain he did call to confirm that he wouldn't be coming out. When he was done he gave us a few days to look over the work, and came out again over the weekend to touch up a few areas. I honestly can't complain about the missed areas - our stucco is very textured, not smooth like some stucco exteriors, and one area of the house is not well lit at all. It actually took my husband and I looking at one area a few times, in different light, to notice that some spots needed touching up.

Drew responded very promptly to our request for an initial estimate and the work was scheduled quickly. He even went out of his way one day to drop off a color wheel for the weekend to help with our decision regarding colors. Drew is very professional with an exceptional work ethic and he is committed to making customers happy. He sanded all the areas and filled small imperfections with plaster mud on the first day (it took about 8 hours), then painted two coats and the trim on the second day (another 7 - 8 hours). My daughter didn't even wake up during naptime as Drew worked right outside her room...now that's impressive!

Drew Southard came out to my house on 4/17 to give me estimate. He was at my house approximately 45 minutes walking around at the different rooms to be painted, taking notes and listening to me explaining what I wanted done. After he was done he got my e-mail and told me he would email me an estimate. After 4 days went by I emailed him and asked him if he had completed my estimate. He then emailed me back and said he had major computer problems and apologized for not getting back to me sooner. Then he told me that after coming out to my home he decided that I was too far to travel to and that he declined the work. He states in his profile that he comes to Montgomery County which is where I live. What I don't appreciate is him wasting my time by coming out to my house in the first place to give me an estimate when he must have known by looking on a map how far he would have had to travel. Why didn't he tell me then after I gave him my address that he didn't want to travel that far? By the way, I live in Gaithersburg and he is based in Silver Spring so it isn't like he has to go to Outer Mongolia. Then he gave some excuse that his truck gets only 5 miles to the gallon and his workers are in the opposite direction of where I live. The whole thing just smacks of dishonesty. Frankly I don't think he wanted the job (for whatever reason) and instead of being honest he gave this lame excuse. I have since secured three other estimates and the guy I am using lives near Columbia so he evidently didn't think I was too far away. I don't really care if that was the real reason he didn't want to do my job and would have understood if he had just told me after SEEING WHERE I LIVED on a map but don't come out to my home, waste my time and then give me some lame reason why you can't do the job.
