She is good. We wanted a good amount of consulting advice, and she was able to cater to what we needed. She had been able to steer us in the right direction for many different things. She was late, but she let me know about that ahead of time, and it wasn't that late either.

We moved into our small colonial home last year, and had spent months arranging and rearranging furniture, looking at paint colors, and trying to figure out whose furniture should stay or go (we are recently married). After the purchase of our new home our budget was basically non-existent, but we decided it was worth hiring a designer to help us out. It was worth every penny and more... Margaret was fantastic. After we followed Margaret's advice it was like our house could breathe again! We are using our rooms more efficiently and things already look fresher. We also appreciated Margaret's honesty about about what items we should sell or give away. Sometimes it's a hard pill to swallow, but it was great to have "permission" to get rid of things that were weighing us down. We recently had Margaret come back to help with paint color selection, and we can't wait to get the new colors on the walls! We are taking baby steps towards having our home be what we want it to be due to a very limited budget, but hiring Margaret was the right first step. Her advice has quickly helped move us in the right direction and will also help us not to waste money on items that won't work. My only regret is that we didn't hire her sooner. Margaret is also just fun to work with. Even with our tiny budget, she made us feel comfortable and we already can't wait to have her back!

Margaret was great. I tried two other Interior Decorators before her and found they were following their agenda not mine. I found Margaret on Angie's list. She really listened to what I had in mind and even kept me on track, rather than the other way around. She was a lot fun to work with and intervened where she thought I was going off but backed off when she thought I was on track, so I felt like I participated in the decision making to the extent I wanted to. She was enthusiastic about what she was doing which made me very optimistic about the outcome. Importantly, I always looked forward to meeting with her. She selected great colors for the rooms, transforming an ugly kitchen into a very cool place just with paint and some new lighting. She helped me with choosing a carpet and I am really happy with the choice. She chose new lighting including the placement of recessed lighting in multiple rooms, chandeliers, pendants and flush mounts. She helped me pick great window treatments. We mostly stayed on budget except when I made a deliberate choice to go off the budget. As a result I have a very nice, peaceful place that is a lot of fun to live in. There is still work to do and I will ask Margaret to help me on the next phases but this initial phase exceeded my expectations. There are a lot of people I pay for services, some I consider I get my money's worth, others I dont. Few make me feel that I get more than my money's worth and Margaret is one of those people. The way I see it, there is no sense in spending a lot of money not to get a great result...so she was a great investment.

Compared to every other person I have worked with on my homes, Margaret Carter Interiors were some of the most honest people to work with. It was so refreshing to feel like I was not getting raked over the coals and she often talked me out of over the top expensive things to keep us on budget. She was smart at helping me know where to put the money and where it was not critical. That advice save me tons of money. The only major down side was that they are not the best at the computer and I found it was easiest to communicate with them in person or via the phone.

I have worked with decorators and design firms in California, New York and Connecticut. This experience was by far the most positive that I can recall. Best news of all was that we actually spent less than was originally estimated and everything was completed on schedule. When there was any sort of issue with any of the vendors, Margaret dealt with it directly and quickly. She was very prompt to communicate and kept me informed of all issues and dealt with all parties in a very professional manner. She handled all interactions with the subcontractors. I am a very hands-on person and ended up feeling very comfortable with Margaret running the show. I eventually delegated more to her than I thought I would. I am currently thinking of buying another property and have had Margaret look at it. I will never buy another home without her input and involvement. Perhaps most importantly, I felt like she was really focused on managing costs.

Margaret was amazing! First, she took the time to get to know me, my style, my personality, and my dislikes. Then, working within the budget we had created together, she provided me with many options to fit within my style. She was a wealth of knowledge and came up with all sorts of ideas I could have never done on my own. I love my condominium/loft and I love coming home! What I liked most about Margaret was that she was the perfect balance between advising me and understanding who I really am. She designed my plan very differently from my friend's, which made me feel she did not have a cookie-cutter approach. It really was a great reflection of who I want to be.

Margaret has been absolutely wonderful to work with and I am very happy with the selections she has made for us. This has been my first time using a decorator and she has made the process easy, low-stress and fun. In addition to the specific rooms we asked her to work on (living room, family room, sunroom, bathroom), Margaret has given us a lot of great ideas for the rest of the house. Since I am new to using a designer I really appreciate that Margaret has instructed me about where I should use her services and what I should just do on my own. Margaret was able to start working with me immediately after I first called her. She jumped right into the project, and she and her team have been very efficient (which I appreciate anytime I m paying by the hour!). We gave Margaret an overall budget for the house and she developed a specific budget for each item we need in each room, which was really helpful to us. Margaret has been very respectful of our budget. She goes out of her way to keep us in the right price range and never tries to push me into buying something I can t afford. The best thing about working with Margaret (other than her excellent taste and creative ideas) is that she truly listens to our needs and opinions, rather than trying to push us in any particular direction. She has made an effort to get to know our personalities, our taste and our lifestyle in order to figure out what will be most functional for us (and our one year old), in addition to making the house look beautiful. It is clear that Margaret wants to help us find our own style, rather than imposing her opinions on us, which I really appreciate in a decorator!

Ms. Carter was a pleasure to deal with. I was very pleased with the overall design and the specific furniture, fabric, shelving, color and lighting choices she suggested for me. I felt she gave me a very fair price for the great work she did and did not suggest furniture, etc. that was beyond my budget. She charged me $120/hour, which I found as a very reasonable. I felt no pressure to spend a lot of money. I would definitely use her again.
