How did it go overall? See above. This entire episode has been a complete disaster. I would advise anyone who intends to use Window and Doors Warehouse LLC to take this advice; "Be careful in your business affairs, because the world is full of trickery'." Oh, by the way, I never received a signed copy of my contract from the company. The rekeying that I wanted was done by the company's installer, who was recommended by the salesman that I dealt with. The company is attempting to use their installer as a shield, because after I was informed by the company's salesman that their installer was a professional locksmith I hired the installer to rekey my new doors for a sum of $255.00. Afterwards, the company informed that their installer was a "private employee", and I had to hire the services of a real professional locksmith as noted earlier to re-rekey the doors after the job was botchede. I was left with a handful of keys that are now worthless, doors that are not aligned and plumb, and a wall that is still cracked.
Description of Work: I signed a contract with Door and Window Warehouse in October 2011 to install entry doors at my home (one metal security door and one fiberglass entry door. The contract, totaling $4,931.05, stated that the work was supposed to be completed within two days. I began having problems immediately with the locks, because I later out found from a professional locksmith that the doors were not "plumb + true" [according to the locksmith]. I wrote letters to the company on December 7 and December 9, 2011 complaining about the doors and the locks, called more once and received no response, other than talk to the installer. By December 6th I refused to put up with the run-around and wrote another letter directly to the owner, Michael J. O'Leary, on December 26, 2011. Just prior to my receiving my last letter, Mr. O'Leary called me when he found out that I contacted American Express and requested that they withhold $1,000.00 from my credit card account until Mr. O'Leary sent someone out to correct the problems with my door. When I picked up the phone I expected him to say that he would come out to check the doors, but I was wrong, Mr. O'Leary became obnoxious, berated me, called me a jerk, and threatened to take legal action against me. I took as much as I could stand, and then terminated our telephone call. Later on,I received a letter from Mr. O'Leary, dated December 19, 2011, in which he attempted to put the blame on me for his actions. His letter, as I stated in my last letter to him on December 26, was filled with "untruths, half-truths, and self-serving statements". As of today, December 31, I have heard no more from him. Currently I have a cracked wall next to my door, locks that seize up sometimes, and doors that are not properly aligned. I have filed a case with American Express, the Maryland Consumer Protection Division, the Maryland Home Improvement Commission, and now Angie's List in the hope that my suggestions to solve this matter will be taken seriously.
