We do appreciate the opportunity we had to provide you with an estimate. There is a lot of work that goes into refinishing cabinets, from removal, to prep, to pulling oils, filling cracks/holes, priming, painting, sealing, and re-hanging. We understand that we may have been higher than you would have liked as far as the estimate is concerned, however we do our best to price fairly and according to the work being requested which is why we provide individual estimates to everyone interested in having us out to work for them. We do apologize we couldn't fit your budget but we hope that your cabinet project turned out wonderfully.

Description of Work: Exterior painting. James came to look over the project and give an estimate, and he impressed us with his knowledge and attention to detail. His crew arrived on schedule and were polite and efficient. They power-washed our house, washed the deck, and then painted house and outbuilding, including trim, with 2 coats. They also repaired and caulked where needed, repaired the spindles on the front porch, replaced a rotted door frame, and installed a plexiglass shield behind the grill. We couldn't be more pleased! The quality of the work is outstanding, and they were a pleasure to deal with from beginning to end. We highly recommend James and his company.

Excellent work! James was responsive to our request for a site visit and quote. His team were punctual and professional, and the finished result is a house we are proud of and which we feel sure will look good for years to come. Our 1974 cedar wood house had a terrible paint job about 7 years ago. James clearly oulined his plan to put right the damage which had been done including recommending the correct paint type for our environment (on the Bay) . He was flexible on the schedule so we could fit in the work around house guests. His team arrived punctually on the assigned day. First he demolished an old, unused external staircase, removed all debris and repaired the area. Then the house was power washed, scraped and caulked. Guttering was removed and minor repairs carried out. Undercoat was applied and then more caulking, spackling, sanding and prep work before the final painting. The team took care to cover the surrounding areas and cleaned up every day. James also sent a team of carpenters to frame out our windows. All trim was painted white. Finally, they painted our Trex deck to complement the new color. The end result is a house which is transformed and which neighbors stop to comment about. I would recommend Chesapeake Painting Services and will certainly use them again.

The estimate visit was as scheduled and proposal was submitted promptly. The dates were set and the painters arrived and were onsite for most of two weeks. They were prompt and very professional and cleaned up each day. They wore shoe protection and took brushes and rollers back to the warehouse ... they did not wash them out in my sink... They advertise as The Gentlemen Painters and they were. Very courteous and quiet. I will use them again as the outside of the house will need some work next year. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them.
Description of Work: They repaired, sanded and painted entire interior of 3 floor house, power washed the outside of the house and the screened porch and deck, and repaired all walls and ceiling in the garage, and painted the garage floor.

Chesapeake Painting Services is top notch. James Guth contacted me very soon after purchasing the services. He was very flexible with dates to perform the work during the week which worked out great for us since my husband works from home. James recommended the amount of paint I should purchase for each room. James contacted me prior to the date of service to confirm the appointment and was right on time the day of the service. The rooms were very clean after the work was performed. Not a drop of paint was anywhere except the walls. Based on his experience James was able to tell us down to the hour when he would be done with the work. Based on his diligence, professionalism and excellent work we will surely use his services again as we continue to paint the walls in our new home. The rooms look spectacular!

We had a good experience with Chesapeake Painting Services. James was very professional and easy to work with. He always returned my calls and emails promptly. I received my proposal within 24 hours of the home visit and they scheduled the work on the exact days I requested. The painting crew came on time both days and worked efficiently and quietly. They played their radio the second day but it was not too loud. The crew was very kind and respectful and helped me put up new kitchen valances at the end of the job. At the end of the second day, the job was completed; James came out to personally inspect the work. He told me that it was possible that I would find something that they might have missed and if I did, I was to call them and they would come out and make it right. There were a couple of very minor things that needed to be addressed after the crew left and James sent the guys out first thing the morning after I notified him. The simple repairs were made and now everything is perfect. All the rooms look fresh and clean. In the past, I have had painters leave my house with such a mess, I had to spend an hour or two, mopping floors and vacuuming up dust and debris from their filthy drop clothes. But this time, I think my house was cleaner after they left! In other words, they did a great job cleaning up after the work was completed. My husband and I are both very pleased with the work done. We will be calling James and his crew again for future painting services.

James came out to look at what we wanted within 24 hours of my call. I received a written estimate the next day and was very satisfied with the price. He was able to schedule us within a couple of weeks and showed up promptly on our scheduled day. His team was extremely professional and efficient, finishing everything a day faster than expected. Not only did they do a great job painting, they also dusted the chandelier in our foyer (too high for us to reach!) and repaired a loose towel rack in the bathroom. Would definitely use them again next time we need painting and would recommend to friends.

James' crew of five spent four and a half days painting a trim-heavy job with excellent results. His crew were courteous, on time every day and thoroughly professional. Their work was monitored closely by James and his crew supervisor. We are very happy with the job they did and would use them again for another project. Although their price was a few hundred dollars more than another bid, their work showed it.

My initial consult with CPS was very professional. James came to the house, took many notes, and had good suggestions. He suggested we go with an eggshell finish. Not knowing much about paint, I agreed, trusting his experience. He provided an estimate within 24 hrs, we accepted and agreed to a start date. The crew arrived on time, and were very nice to work with during the project. I felt as though they cared about my home and furniture, being very careful while moving and covering everything in plastic. We were happy with most of the work done with the exception of two bathrooms. The paint that was used in the bathrooms absorbs the moisture from showers. There are bubbles and streaks on all the walls. After every shower, it gets worse. We are now having to repair all this damage. I believe James should have known to use a different paint in the baths, and should have advised us. I emailed James very shortly after the job was completed to ask him what should be done. He did not respond.

I really couldn't say enough about the professionalism of this company. The owner (James) met with us and helped us make some final decisions on paint finish, and made a complete review of the project. He followed up with a reasonable (although one always hopes for some magically low price) offer - we had a few estimates and decided on James. Usually, that's when things begin to go awry, but not with this company. James worked with us to set an agreed upon time each morning for the crew to arrive, so we wouldn't have to part with a key. We have indoor cats, and they found an ideal solution to keep them in one part of the house so they wouldn't need to be locked in the basement all day. They did a truly wonderful job on the painting, within the time they agreed to (2 1/2 days) and each day we arrived home to a mess-free home. He won't even enter the house with his shoes on, nor will his workers. The wallpaper was off in a day or so, and he subcontracted the installation of the new paper to ensure it was done to his satisfaction. That took a little longer than expected due to the sub's schedule, but I am sure if that had been a problem for us James would have found a satisfactory solution. This company is a rare find, as is James. I hope they never compromise on their commitment to customer satisfaction and professionalism!
Description of Work: Painting of stairway wall (which included wainscot), upstairs hall and guest bath, one lower half wall. Upstairs and stairway included ceilings, trim, and doors. I hate to paint so hiring this company was my long awaited sweet treat to myself so i would not have to paint our house. The owner was pleasant to work with during the quoting process however we did not have him on site during the work. He had a head painter running the job and we got 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms painted. The bedrooms turned out nice but the bathrooms have several mistakes. The lead painter ordered the wrong paint for our master bathroom and after correcting the color complained that they weren't making any money on this job. They did do some extra very minor drywall repair which was nice however they made shortcuts with the wall prepping and bathrooms. All in all the work was good in the bedrooms but I'd rather just paint the bathrooms myself next time since I would be able to do a better job. Ed was our lead painter, on day one they left one of our bedroom windows open during a rainy day so rain got into the room (luckily there was no damage), on the last day of work they worked at our house while we were not home so they could finish the job and they went into our garage and rooms where my tools/other things were at without our permission (our alarm system shows when doors open and close with time stamps), when I addressed this with him he said he was looking for a broom. For some people this might not bother however I much rather someone call me than just go through my things/rooms without my permission. Lastly they finished painting while we were not home and when he called me to notify me they were done I mentioned to him I would like to do a walk through of the job to make sure nothing was missed and I was satisfied, he told me we did the walk through the day before (while the job wasn't complete) and that they were taking all of the equipment out so there would be nothing he would do. In other words don't let the painters work while you aren't there to monitor them because they'll do a half a** job if you don't make sure you're happy before they pack their things up.

It was spectacular and the cost was around $6000. I had two friends of mine, one hires painters for houses, and one hires painters for apartments review the estimates and they said, it was outstandingly fair. One said it was on the low side. This project was an interior painting of the entire house including doing some repair work. They finished the work last week. First, on the phrase, This project was definitely value for money. Management is outstandingly responsive. The workers were outstandingly cooperative, friendly, and cheerful. They solved all issues quickly and cheerfully that any job of this size renovation is going to have.. Remember, I just said I had two professionals review their work and I know it is a good price. I plan to use them in the future.

I called James from Chesapeake Painting to get an estimate for doing some drywall repair and repainting of the entire interior of our house in preparation for selling. James returned my call immediately and was very prompt about scheduling a time (according to our odd work schedule) to come out and give us an estimate. James was on time for the estimate and was friendly and thorough. He provided us a written estimate within 24 hours of coming out to give the estimate. Although the estimate was a little higher then we had expected and other estimates we had received, James was great about working with us to get the estimate down to where we felt comfortable going with Chesapeake Painting. This was GREAT NEWS for me since Chesapeake Painting was the company that had impressed me the most with regard to the comfort level associated with letting a crew of people (strangers) into my house for several days. It was decided that James's crew would start work in our house on a Thurs. after we left for work and would continue thru Fri and Sat. while we were out of town. We have two very elderly dogs that i can no longer kennel when we go on trips, and i had concerns about what to do with the girls while James's crew was working. James assured me that the dogs would be perfectly fine if we left them there, that his crew loved dogs and would have no problem working around them. He even offered to feed them for us while we were gone. Although this offer surprised me, i still had my son come over at night to check in on the dogs and to feed them. The Chesapeake Painting crew moved all of the furniture and stuff and covered everything so as not to get any paint on our things. They completed all of the work by Sat. afternoon as they had promised and had everything back in its place. When we returned back home, just about everything was put back to its original location and everything was cleaned up. Now don't get me wrong, ladies....Chesapeake Painting will not "clean" your house for you, but they do take care to move, cover and then reposition your things. If you have drywall repairs done, as we did, then you will still need to do some cleaning when you get home since that dang dry wall dust gets everywhere! James called us on Sunday, as he knew we would be returning then, to see what we thought of the work. He scheduled time to come by and talk to us face to face and go over any concerns we may have. That same day, we met with James and discussed a couple of issues (loss of internet/cable tv, and some cosmetic issues with some old recessed lights we have in the kitchen. James offered to have his crew come back and install new rings around the lights (not because of any fault of theres - just because they were old and i was asking about how to replace them). He also did not charge us the full balance of the job due to the internet problem. He suggested we call Verizon, get the problem fixed and the whatever the cost was he would deduct that from the balance owed. Turns out we were able to fix the problem over the phone with the Verizon techs so no additional charge was needed. James also pointed out to us two mirrors that were accidentally broken by the crew as they were moving furniture (bathroom mirror and a closet door mirror). He replaced both at no cost to us with exact matches before we even got home, but wanted to make sure we knew what had happened. I can't say enough about this company. They truly listen to the customer and take the time to make sure you are 100% happy. I just love when i find companies like this today since it seems no one can be trusted anymore. I would definitely use them again.

First I'll say that this contractor pressure washed and stained my whole house last July (2012) as well as removed wallpaper and painted a bathroom. James (the owner) came out personally to look at the job and very quickly created a competitive quote. Once we agreed on price and scope of the work, a schedule was agreed upon. The workmen arrived exactly when promised and completed the work impeccably in the projected time frame. One year later had one small problem area and James came out personally to address the issue (no charge). The entire crew was very respectful of the families needs while work was going on as well as careful with all furnishings, plantings around the house, etc. Very happy with their work! When James came out to take care of the warranty problem we discussed the board replacement and I hired Chesapeake painters to do that as well. Done exactly as requested...

I phoned the company and the owner, James answered. I explained to him what I needed and he was out the next day and that evening had sent me a written proposal. He was prompt and very courteous. He also was very accommodating in setting a start date. On the first day, he and his crew showed up on time. They began working immediately by carefully covering everything and moving the furniture where necessary. They completed the wallpaper removal in a day along with putting two coats of paint on a bedroom we were having done. The next day they returned to paint the kitchen ceiling and to add a third coat of paint to the bedroom where there was some bleed thru. While I had indicated I thought a third coat necessary they had already decided it was necessary. There was no argument. The entire crew was very polite, accommodating, and professional. When they left at the end of the day they always cleaned up. The real test came on the third day. I noted some small peeling on the newly painted kitchen ceiling. I phoned James and he responded at once. The problem was related to area that was not yet dry enough from the wallpaper removal. It was fixed without hesitation. We are very pleased with the job and look forward to working with them again. James is a delight, he stays on top of things, and does an excellent job of communicating with you. His price was a little higher but the service and the quality of work done was well worth it.

Chesapeake Painting Services did a great job and they were a pleasure to work with. James always did exactly what he said he was going to do and always responded to a phone call or email. During the estimate, James went through everything they would do and happily answered all my questions (and he never responded with "we don't do that" or "that costs extra"). He was very good about presenting the estimate without pressure or arrogance, which is something I can't say about the other company we received an estimate from. Our project was fairly straight forward, but was made more complicated because our HOA was delaying quite a bit on giving us approval for shutter color. James and his crew took it all in stride though and worked around the delay. They were very patient and understanding, and once the shutters finally came in, were able to finish the job quickly. James even came by the evening the shutters were delivered to make sure the paint for the door matched. We were very impressed and happy with the job.
Description of Work: They repainted the exterior trim and did some repairs of rotting wood. Also painted our front door and mounted shutters.

James Guth, the owner of Chesapeake Painting, provided excellent service. The work his crew did was outstanding and I would have them work on the house again in a heartbeat. In choosing a contractor for this job, I interviewed five companies and drew a matrix. Some used better paint than others, some on;ly used one coat of paint over the primer, some would not fix the rotten wood. I picked Chesapeake because they used two coats of very good paint over primer, had the know-how to deal with carpentry issues, worked with me on a good price, and were ultra-professional in all of this. The job was done well - I only found one errant brush stroke and that's really good. I got an estimate for a renovation project to turn a sunroom into a porch, and I would have done that but decided to hold off until next year. Prior to contracting with Chesapeake, I called three of his references, and they were all very positive. I understand why.
Description of Work: Scrape and sand exterior lead paint on old Victorian home following prescribed lead paint removal guidelines, replace rotten wood in several places, replace an entire awning, and paint exterior to include metal roof.

James communicated daily and his crew was on time everyday. James was patient and helpful when I added more projects and needed advice. The crew was polite, hard working, and cleaned up daily. I cannot say enough good things about them. They completely restored my 40+ year old home and made it beautiful. They worked for 9 days and kept me abreast of progress daily. They are the best!

James came out to provide an estimate within 24 hours of my contacting him (it might have been that very same day actually!) I originally had him quote us for painting all woodwork in upstairs and removing wallpaper in a bathroom, which he did very efficiently by the end of that day. But then we changed our priorities and asked him to provide an estimate on removing wallpaper, painting woodwork and walls in a bathroom and kitchen instead. Without needing to return, he revised the estimate based on our requests via email - so convenient. We accepted the estimate and were given a start date. I was 9 months pregnant and asked if it was ok if we had to postpone, which he said was fine. He then offered to come out earlier if they got rained out of any jobs, which was a great option for us and very considerate of him since we were on a bit of a timeline with a baby on the way. Turns out they were able to start a week ahead of schedule because of rain, but they finished the job before my due date, which I believe was a courtesy to me since the last work day was nice weather. I am so appreciative of this consideration! The job took 3 visits. The wallpaper was removed, walls were fixed up as needed, ceilings were painted, trim and woodwork was painted and the color of my choice was painted on the walls. They used low VOC paints which had zero smell. The crew was exceptional. I was home alot with my 2 year old and I hardly knew they were here, they were so considerate. James visited twice throughout the job to check work. The work done was exceptional. The customer service is top notch. The price was good and matched a "ballpark" figure I received from a different painter who I only spoke with over the phone weeks before deciding to hire anyone. We will definitely hire Chesapeake painting in the future if needed. I highly recommend them and I'm so happy with the work.

James Guth (james@chesapeakepainting.net) handled all of the initial contacts quickly and professionally. He drafted the estimate, and supervised the job setup (day one) and closeout (day two). They hit the house hard the first day with a full crew, and the finer detail work on day two with a smaller crew. We are extremely happy with every aspect of their work - it really makes the house. Thank you James, thank you Gentlemen Painters!
Description of Work: James and the Gentlemen Painters of Chesapeake Painting Services were asked to paint the interior doors, closets, trim, molding, baseboards, etc of our entire home after another company had done the walls and ceilings. Price included patch and prep work, caulking, and cleanup.
