We were very happy with the service. Provided estimate promptly after we contacted the company. They notified us when the work would be done, and it was done on the promised day. They did good work. No issues at all.

I had a 35 year old concrete front porch that was cracked and pitched toward my house. This created pool of water against my house when it rained and subsequently rotted a portion of my sill plate. Based upon reputation, word of mouth and Angie's List, I contacted Charles A Pastrana and Sons for a quote. Robert Pastrana performed an inspection, recommended a solution and provided a quote. He also recommended a carpenter to perform the sill repair. I contacted the carpenter, Mike Brady, scheduled an inspection and obatined a quote. Once the date for repairs were set the work was performed like clock work. The crew was punctual, professional and removed all debris from the job site. I am completely satisfied with the work that was performed and highly recommend Charles A Pastrana and Sons.

Excellent , definitely use them again
Description of Work: Five of the hardest working men I've ever hired showed up at 8:30 am. They excavated a70' sidewalk and a 12'x 20' slab for a shed. They were formed up, perfectly leveled, and they were finished and waiting on the concrete truck buy 11:00am. I've used them on all my concrete work going back to 1986.

We had issues with water coming into our basement through the floor in several areas. We seemed to have a water table that a single sump pump struggled to keep up with during heavy rains and storms. The existing sump pump had a battery back up so it wasn't a case of power failures causing the sump pump to stop. We had three companies to the house to examine the problem. The first recommended exterior waterproofing and an exterior drain. The quote was $45,000. The second company recommended we do an interior drain but since the basement was finished they would need to rip out the basement kitchen and bathroom as well as the bar area and the children's art area with built in cabinets. The quote was $10,000 but didn't include the repairs to all areas that were demolished during their installation of the interior drain system. Robert Pastrana and his crew came, looked at the photos we had of the previous water damage, and drilled holes into the concrete flooring of the basement where water had penetrated the floors in the past (the carpet had been removed already). We were told to wait several weeks until we had a few thunderstorms. We did and we watched the drilled holes to see which areas filled with water. Pastrana and crew then added several sump pumps in the areas that presented the greatest risk. They worked with us to add back up batteries to the new sump pumps so we had coverage in the event of a power outage. The creative and thorough approach they took saved us thousands of dollars and a great deal of headache and turmoil in our home. We went through Irene with our sump pumps able to handle the water tables. I appreciate their professionalism, the knowledge they have of their craft and the common courtesy of treating our job and our home as they would their own. They cleaned up after themselves and they were on time every time they came to the house. I'd recommend this company to anyone who wants the job done right.
Description of Work: They evaluated the areas of our basement where there was the greatest risk of water coming through the floor. They added several sump pumps, made sure we had a back up battery to the pumps in the event of power failure and even called us after Irene to make sure we were okay. I feel confident they were already busy with new customers asking for their assistance but they checked on us anyway. They are true professionals who are proud of their quality work!

Description of Work: I was referred to this company by both my plumber and a contractor. Robert Pastrana came to my house and found the cause of a wet wall in my basement. He told me it was the responsibility of the Homeowner's Assocation to fix it and I should not have to pay for it. He said they could call him and he would tell him his findings. He told me if they refuse to fix the pipe underground, his company can fix it in my house, but the best fix is outside to stop the water permanently. He was extremely honest and professional. He didn't try to pressure me into having any work done. I'll wait to hear what the HOA says, but if I have to have the work done on my own, I will absolutely give them my business. Just based on the honesty of Mr. Pastrana alone I would highly recommend this company.

In April we had 5 companies give us estimates to put an inside drain along 3 sides of the foundation. I found all the presentations to be very professional, extremely informative and very clear in their explanation of what they considered to be the problem, and with the manner in which they would fix it. The estimates ranged from $5490 to $6300. Even though we inquired whether the problem was with the foundation walls not being sealed well enough, they felt that the water was not coming from the walls, but from ground water seeping up from underneath the foundation. Even though they agreed it MAY be the walls, they still felt that the interior drain system would be the best to use because it would correct the problem whichever way the water was coming in and it was the only procedure they would guarantee. Well, after waiting for 6 months, and finding very little seepage especially with all this rain we have had recently, and with the advice of a local building inspector, we took a couple of panels off one wall and it is very apparent that a small amount of water does indeed come in through the wall. This indicates that the problem is that the outside of the lower level wall needs to be re-waterproofed, not that we have a ground water problem that is seeping up from beneath the foundation. We will be solving the problem with regrading the outside land to slope away from the house and new gutters.

The whole operation, while noisy (jackhammers breaking concrete) and messy for a few hours, went about as well as I could have hoped. They dismantled the concrete "bunker" under which the pipe lay, removed the pipe, broke up the flooring, dug down, laid gravel and whatever else you do to a trench, repoured concrete. I gave them a "B" on quality ONLY because they covered the space where they removed a few vertical inches of drywall on the walls with an attached plastic piece, which was useless to me. I did have to have a drywaller come fix that. They were courteous, prompt, friendly, professional, and efficient.
Description of Work: Technically this was not waterproofing in the traditional sense. Our house had a very bizarre drainage system in half of the basement, consisting of long runs of PVC pipe on the floor next to the exterior walls (cinder block), which then were covered in a 45 degree angle of concrete. (previous owner) We had had no problems for the 19 years we lived in the home, even during the hurricane a few years back. All of a sudden water began seeping out of the end of one pipe onto the (now) carpeted floor. Several contractors looked at it, declared it impossible to deal with; apparently they couldn't deal with the pipe without breaking the concrete, and no one offered a better solution. I was referred to the Pastranas, who examined it, told me it needed to be ripped out and an interior French drain installed around the perimeter (only 1/2 the basement), along with installation of a (second) sump. Estimate was about $3500.00.

They arrived on a Friday morning with a huge crew, and did a great job, and were finished within a few hours. They left the basement very clean, and cleaned up outside as well.
Description of Work: Pastrana gave us our 2nd estimate to waterproof a wet portion of our basement. They inspected the wet area, and suggested putting in 4 linear feet of french drain and a sump pump. Other parts of the basement had previously been waterproofed. They also dug out a piece of pvc pipe that had been put through the foundation wall by a previous owner in order to run electrical wires out for outside lighting. Water was pouring through the pipe into our basement. They patched the foundation wall there and put in a drain field for future flooding.
