After listing my home for sale, the realtor recommended I replace my air conditioning unit with a heat pump as there was no central heat in the home. We installed an air conditioning unit and had been using pellet stoves to heat the home after the original heat pump failed. I made several calls to HVAC contractors and received 3 estimates. John Myers responded immediately and came out within 2 hours to assess my home. Not only was he the most responsive, but his estimate was substantially less than any others I received by $1,000 or more. John is licensed and very knowledgeable. His recommendations were in line with others I had received. I contacted him on a Wednesday and he schedule the job that following Sunday. John and his crew of 2 others arrived promptly at 7:30 on Sunday morning, the day and time we agreed upon. The job took approximately 5 hours. The crew was polite and efficient. I was initially anxious about the mess they would make since I had a house showing planned, but they cleaned up well, hauling away the old equipment. The installation was a little challenging in that the dimensions of the new air handling unit were slightly different than the old but John and his team made the necessary adjustments for a good fit. In addition to the heat pump, they installed a new concrete pad to ensure everything was level, free of charge. The following day, John contacted us to see how the unit was working. He asked if he could come back the next day to inspect things one last time and even replaced our thermostat with a newer, updated model free of charge. Turns out our old thermostat was a cheap Home Depot version that was not the most compatible with the new heat pump. I can't thank John and his crew enough for the work that was performed. It is rare I've been so pleased with a service. I will certainly be recommending John Myers to anyone I know who needs HVAC services.

This is the third time that I was able to reach Mr. Myers at just the right time. This time I woke up to discover that it was 50 degrees in the house and the furnace was not working. Above and beyond the obvious discomfort of the cold house, I was truly in a panic, because we were expecting party guests the next day. I called Mr. Myers and as luck would have it, he was able to re-arrange his entire day's plans to come to our house first. He arrived in less than an hour. One reason I really like this guy is that he goes out of his way to explain what the problem is and what needs to be done, without making me feel like an idiot ;-) It turns out that the problem was the igniter. Mr. Myers was able to go buy a replacement part and have it installed within an hour. It took a few hours for the house to be warm up again, but thanks to Mr. Myers a frigid weekend was averted.
Description of Work: Mr. Myers came to our rescue--AGAIN! He came and fixed our furnace.

We realized that there was a problem when we turned on the AC for the first (extended) time last weekend. It did slightly cool the house, but we thought that we needed freon. After a few days of trying to catch up with our regular HVAC guy, I started considering other options. I checked with several companies that are offering Angie's List coupons, but no one would be able to come for more than a week, unless I could take off work to be home during regular business hours. I took a chance and called someone with an online classified ad. He impressed me with his knowledge and his availability to come sometime over the weekend. He does have a HVAC license. His prices seems comparable to the discounts offered by the Angie's List coupons, so I went with my gut...and thank goodness that I did! Mr. Myers called me back within 10 minutes and offered to re-arrange his plans to come immediately. It turns out that our system was bone-dry! We could have done permanent damage to our system had we continued to try and run it. It took at least an hour for Mr. Myers to get the condenser to cool off enough to charge it. I'm not sure if and quot;the average technicianand quot; would have waited it out. It would have been much easier to say they'd have to come back the next day--for an additional charge; or worse still, convince me that the condenser had to be replaced. Even though I know next to nothing about how these systems work, Mr. Myers took the time to show and explain exactly what he was doing; and he was not at all condescending. He was finally able to get the sytem running again, he re-charged it (with nearly 8 lbs. of freon), cleaned up and thoroughly checked everything. He did caution me that there is the potential of a longer term problem that may have to be resolved at some point (a damaged valve). But conceivably we are set for this season and many more! Bottom line, the cost was considerably more than I was expecting, since the unit is only 5 years old. But once I understood what probably caused the leak, I realized that refilling the freon was unavoidable--and that was what dramatically raised the price. Mr. Myers was very professional, thorough, friendly and extremely accommodating to come on such short notice. I suspect that the price would have been considerably higher with another company, so that's why I'm so pleased--despite the unexpected, but unavoidable price. I would HIGHLY recommend this small but extremely competent company!
Description of Work: Our central air conditioner was not blowing cold air. Mr. Myers checked the inside and outside units and discovered that we were completely out of freon. He recharged it and now we are nice and cool!
