Homecraft Builders

From the start we were quite impressed with Homecraft. For the initial estimate, Marc took time to explain what he felt needed to be done, brought samples of the materials his team uses and had a huge binder of projects they've done. We'd received a few other quotes and while we felt that others could do the job just fine, Marc was down to earth and we felt that we weren't being sold things we didn't need. Once the (nominal) deposit was made, Marc kept us informed of the start date and set appropriate expectations. On day 1, the crew showed up on the hottest day of the year and worked from around 9 am until the sun set. That first day they had the old deck torn down. Within a few days we could really see the new one taking shape and are beyond thrilled with the final result. The crew worked hard every day, often staying until the dark would not let them work further - they even came out on the weekend to get the job done. The site was clean when they left and the deck is GORGEOUS - no squeaks or movement and we now have a deck we just need to hose off to maintain. I cannot recommend Homecraft enough - I've already told several friends to contact them and strongly suggest you do as well!

This was a great company and I would recommend them to anyone without a doubt. They were timely and didn't delay the start date for the work. The workers stayed on the deck until it was completely replaced. They also replace my gate in the deal. After the job was done they completely cleaned up all of the debris making my yard looked as if there was no work done. I was totally, completely satisfied with their work.

I had a fantastic experience with Homecraft Builders. They took care of obtaining the building permit and all of the inspections. Once the building started, I had a fantastic new deck in 3.5 days. The owner was very responsive in communicating with me. I liked their work so much, I plan on using them to build a shed in the Fall. They did a great job.

My request for an estimate was promptly denied, allowing me to continue searching for contractors with sufficient capacity to perform deck railing work. I'm placing the review so that other Angie's List members are aware that this contractor has taken on more work than they can handle, so (at least at this time), they are not a viable option to consider for deck work.

Jeff and his team did a great job! From the first visit, Jeff was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. When providing the estimate, he provided recommendations that would provide cost savings, which was much appreciated. All communications with Jeff were timely, and he was very quick to respond to all questions. All materials needed for HOA approval were quickly provided, and due to some HOA restrictions, Jeff had to reapply for the permits, but this was done with no complaints. Once the work was started, the deck was completed within three days. It was a great experience from beginning to end, and I would highly recommend them to everyone I know.

Jeff and his team did an outstanding job building our deck. From the first visit Jeff was very professional, friendly and knowledge about building decks. He also offered cost saving ideas. After receiving other estimates I shared them with Jeff and he educated me that some of the other companies using inferior materials. He also matched the best price we received. Once Homecraft started building they completed our deck within 3 days and the quality was outstanding. I would definitely do business with them again. Now we have the best deck on the block!

I got three estimates for the deck and fence. Homecraft was not the lowest but when I compared the estimates, two of them were cutting corners. I felt Homecraft would do the best job. I was not disappointed. I feel I got more than my moneys worth. They went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. It was a pleasure to work with Marc and his crew. I will use Homecraft for any future projects. I feel that if you go with Homecraft, you won't go wrong Their work is excellent. Their follow up is excellent. We are really happy with our new deck. r

Great experience from start to finish. Our deck (18x16 with steps and gate) was built ahead of schedule, with work being done from about 8am to 6-7pm each working day (3). Marc came to check on the project during and after to make sure everything was okay. We'd definitely work with Homecraft again and have already recommended them to neighbors.

Two jobs. Replaced a relatively large deck and replaced siding. Worked with Marc, who was very professional and a pleasure to work with, and so were all of the members of his crews who completed the jobs. Both were completed in a very timely fashion, with great attention to detail. We were very satisfied, and would highly recommend the company.

Jeff is simply FANTASTIC! Always professional, responsive and timely! He came out at a convenient time, took a look at my existing deck, asked some questions and gave some suggestions. He took my goals and my long-term intentions and gave me some cost-saving suggestions. He was very quick to get plans done and back to me for my HOA. When questions arose he was always available for questions and didn't seem bothered no matter how many questions I asked. This was the easiest house repair I've had done in years! He not only did my deck, he also put up a new gate and fixed my fence! Jeff and his crew are wonderful and I highly recommend them! They will be one of my favorites for years to come! Thanks, Jeff!

Jeff was very responsive to our inquiry. He met with us, provided a draft design, gave us material samples and a number of customers that they had serviced nearby. He provided us with the detailed materials listing and modified site plan that was required by our home owners association, and obtained the MD building permit. Work was completed within 3 days upon starting and the site was cleaned after the job was complete. Great job!

Jeff and his team did an excellent job in constructing this deck. They obtained all permits and were able to complete the deck in 5 days once the project was started. Only a $200 deposit was needed for materials with the remaining amount due after completion of the project. Jeff was excellent and answered every text or phone call in a timely manner. I will recommend to everyone I know who is looking to build a deck.

Overall, my experience with Homecraft Builders was exceptional. My spouse and I decided to have our existing wood deck torn down and replaced with an Azek PVC deck. Using Angie's list, we contacted to local builders in our area and in order for them to provide us with estimates. Jeff from Homecraft returned our call within 30 minutes and arranged to visit our home that week. We discussed what we wanted to do and Jeff provided us with an estimate which was on par with another estimate we received. However, a big plus for us was that Jeff told us that he did not charge more for the more higher end Azek collections, so basically we should just pick which ever color we wanted and the cost would be the same. This is in contract to the other quote we received from another builder, where it was going to cost us almost $1200 more for the higher end Azek material. My spouse and I went back and forth as to which builder to go with since both estimates and plans were pretty much the same but in the end, we could not justify spending $1200 more for no reason. So we went with Homecraft and are glad we did. We contacted Jeff and told him that we were a go. He arranged to come back to our house with Azek samples so my spouse could pick out the color she wanted and sign our contract. We provided him with a $200 deposit so he could get the permits from the county. Jeff said he should be able to begin construction within 3 weeks, which was perfect since we wanted it done before the summer months. To his word, construction began about 2 weeks later. Jeff's team arrived on a Friday to begin and complete the demolition of our existing deck (which the prior owner built). His team came again on Saturday to dig out the holes for the posts (FYI, these are self supporting decks, which are safer and recommended by all reputable builders (if not code for your county)). On Monday, his team arrived again and by Wednesday, had completed the deck. His team was very professional and was able to work without us present. Jeff was also on sight at some point each day. The deck was inspected by the county inspector on Friday and of course passed (we got the final written confirmation from the county in the mail yesterday). We were having a drink later than night. Jeff arrived on Saturday to pick up his check (Homecraft requires payment at the end of the job, so you don't have to worry about Homecraft taking portions of your money and not coming back to finish your deck, which is a huge plus in my book when working with contractors) In sum, as said by the numerous other Angie's list members, Homecraft Builders is a professional business who will meet and exceed your expectations. We are glad we made the decision to use them and would recommend them to others.

We used Angie's List in selecting our short list of builders to provide quotes for our new deck. Marc from Homecraft was the first to respond and provided an on-site estimate for our project. The process of designing the deck was very collaborative, with Marc taking into consideration what we wanted and adding input and opinions on how to make the deck better. Their price was very reasonable compared to the other contractors who provided quotes. The construction team was very friendly, efficient and maintained a very tidy workzone. Marc was frequently on site to oversee the progress on the new deck and Homecraft took care of all permit niceties, including coordinating with the county inspector. The old deck was down and in a dumpster within a matter of hours. While taking down the old deck, the team noticed that some insulation had rotted underneath and offered to replace (which we accepted for a small increase in price). The new deck, a 33x12 synthetic deck complete with stairs. We are very happy with the finished product and will definitely use Homecraft Builders in the future.

After coming to my house to give me the quote, Jeff first gave me a quote for a hybrid (wood platform and vinyl railings) deck. However, my HOA insisted on composite decking. So, he managed to switch materials on the last minute and still stay within my budget. Furthermore, he finished the job well in time. I will recommend Homecraft Builders very highly.

I enjoyed working with Jeff. He made great recommendations and did everything he said he would do. I have already recommended him to my neighbors.

This is the second job I've used Homecraft for, and I will definitely be using them again. Marc Pickus and his crew are AMAZING! Marc always responds in a timely manner, gives accurate and complete estimates, and the work is always performed on time and as specified. Not only that, the guys are polite and knowledgable and I really enjoy talking to them. We wanted to put rainbarrels under our downspouts, and we purchased them, plus diverters, and the guys set them up, leveled them with blocks for me and made everything look neat and tidy. I trust them completely and plan on having them do more work on the exterior of my house.

Deck was installed in just 5 days including permitting and drawing. Jeff helped in coordinating everything from coming to my workplace ( very convenient ) and helping me pick out color of deck and going over the dimensions of the deck. Work was very fast and clean and did an excellent job.

The deck was built solidly, with quality craftsmanship. It's great when a contractor like Jeff Slutzker does everything possible to please the customer, but I think what places him a cut above the rest is that he is also trying to please himself. He obviously takes great pride in his work. I heartily recommend him.

The provider came out to discuss what I wanted and made suggestions that made it even better. He then gave me an estimate for the job based on these discussions which I thought, considering other estimates, extremely fair. The estimate included 6x6 posts, doubled 2x6's for the framing and joists, and #1 pretreated 1x6's for decking. The railings 2x4 caps and bases with 2x2 railings, also #1 pretreated wood. He gave me a time frame to start (approx. 4 wks) and showed up on time to start. He provided a 3 man (sometimes 4) crew who dug 30" deep post holes in ground I can only describe as concrete hard and poured concrete footers. The crew showed every day at 8AM and finished the deck in 4 days with outstanding workmanship. This provider, Homecraft Builders, did an excellent job and did everything to a high standard. I have nothing but praise for the crew that did the work because of their high level of craftsmanship and commitment to the job. I can only say if you want a job well done give this company a chance to WOW you and you will not be disappointed.

Jeff was very helpful in designing the deck. Construction started within a few weeks and was completed quicker than was estimated. The crew was very efficient and courteous and Jeff came out to personally inspect the work during and after completion. There was minor damage to the siding trim but Jeff paid to have it fixed. The only thing we were not completely happy with was the alignment of the deck off the carport which was due to a minor communication error. The reason for the "B" in quality is because some of the plastic railing trim pieces are popping off but we are otherwise very happy. The deck is beautiful and we would definitely recommend Jeff for you deck projects.

From the initial consultation to the completion of service, everything ran smoothly. Very professional and helpful when trying to determine deck plan and very fast getting plans so I could turn them in to my HOA for approval. Once approved, they were quick to start working on the deck and it was very quickly completed. It is beautiful! Not only was the deck built more quickly than other companies, but it was significantly cheaper too than any other estimates, but there was no sacrifice in quality. If anything, the quality and "extras" I had on the deck were better than other companies were able to do. Very pleased!

Homecraft did a fantastic job with our new deck. Jeff (VP of the company) came out to do the estimate very quickly after we put in our request. He gave us great advice on what kind of deck made sense for our house, lifestyle, and plans. He also immediately provided a quote that was thousands below the competing estimate we received. Jeff took care of getting all permits, which was a breeze. The team who actually did the demo work and built the new deck were extremely courteous, respectful, and diligent in getting the job done quickly. Our next door neighbor (a deck expert himself) raved about how thorough their work was and how great the deck looks. We're very pleased with the new deck, would recommend Homecraft to anyone without hesitation, and will use them for all similar services in the future.

I called Jeff to request a replacement of an existing leaking set of french doors. Jeff had an estimator on site within a couple days and preliminarily found significant water damage & rot damage to the floor. A plan of action was developed to replace the door with a patio door, replace the damaged subfloor & the framing if after the old door came out more damage was evident. The doors were originally installed incorrectly which damaged both the door, floor, and framing so we requested a replacement with a sliding glass door. Within a week, the project was completed in a timely, professional, and high quality manner. The installers were respectful and cleaned up well after the job was done. They also took the time to show me specific issues that created the leaks in the first place and explained the extent of the damage. They replaced the water damaged framing and floor that were covered up by the existing set of doors and made sure that the new door installation was done correctly. The end result is that we now have a beautiful door with the peace of mind that it was done correctly. This is the 2nd job I have used Homecraft for and will continue to think of them first for my home improvement needs.
