I called After Hours Drain Co. in the morning of Tuesday June 14th and described our problem (showers and tubs all backing up when water run in any of them). THe man with whom I spoke (Tom, who I believe runs the company) was very pleasant and promised he would come over that afternoon or early evening to clear the common drain which would solve hte problem, and he said it would cost $125, which seemed like a reasonable price to me based on my research. I gave him my husband's cell and work numbers, and he promised to call my husband before he came by that day so that my husband could come homefrom work to meet him. Unfortunately, After Hours never called, never came to the house, and didn't respond to the multiple messages my husband and I left for them both that afternoon, evening and the following morning. SO the next afternoon we called a different company, Mr. Drain in Weymouth, who came promptly and did a good job (albeit for a higher price than that which After Hours had quoted me.) Despite the higher price, I would definitely use Mr. Drain again and would NOT use After hours.
Description of Work: None-- they failed to show up or call as promised to clear bathtub and shower drains, so I hired and used another company.

Not much to tell really, it was a simple problem, but something we did not have to tools to fix ourselves. I found Tom to be very nice and after a little discussion about which method to use and a quick experiment to determine exactly where the clog was, he decided to go with the snake. And within a couple of minutes, the clog was gone! Tom was right on time (which I am a PITA about) and didn't mind my Frenchies jumping all over him. We talked a little after the job was done and I told him that he was my new plumber.
Description of Work: Our bathroom toilet was clogged and we could not unclog it by plunging. So I found Tom, gave him a call and he was here the same day. He unclogged the toilet with a snake (I think that's what it is called) and the problem was fixed.

I called Tom in the morning and he agreed to come at a time of my choice. I made an appointment for late in the afternoon. He arrived a 1/2 hour late, but cleaned the drain quickly, checked the dishwasher also; and recommended measures to prevent a recurrence of a backup.
Description of Work: Tom cleared the kitchen drain which had backed up, staying long enough to make sure that the dishwasher was also working without water backing up.

On the Saturday of Memorial day weekend the bathroom tub clogged and since it was the only bath in the house we needed to get it cleared right away. After trying a chemical drain cleaner I realized that I needed a professional and called around to see who would be able to come on the same day. When I called After Hours Drain Server, Tom (the owner) answered right away and told me he could be over in two hours. A little less the two hours later he was at my home and cleared the drain quickly and professionally...he also took the time to fix a small issue with the sink at no extra charge.
Description of Work: Cleared the drain for a clogged bath tub.

He came on referral from my usual plumber, within about an hour of their attempting to clear the drain. The two companies may work together on a regular basis, from the way it looked. This guy specializes in harder drains, and had more of the heavy artillery. Still, he had to bring a couple of different pieces of equipment in before he got it to drain properly. Afterwards, he was very friendly and open about his work, and chatted a bit about some of the more difficult aspects of his job. This helped me to understand the peculiarities of my situation as well. He was relaxed and did not seem to be in so much of a rush as your average service technician, and yet was very focused. This is not to imply he wasted time or took very long with the task, though. He also advised against using the store bought drain cleaners (as did my regular plumber), to my surprise. They recommend just using a plunger in these situations to try to open the drain, not any of the chemicals at all.
Description of Work: Cleared very slow draining tub.
