Lawn area approximately 25' long and 12' feet wide which was out of the project scope and area, was damaged by spreading fill/rocks over it. A boulder was pushed into the woods. Any excess fill and boulders were to be hauled away. When I asked about this, Ron repeatedly told a story about removing a crushed drainpipe. There was no drainpipe and there is no hole from which it could have been excavated. It would not make sense to even remove such a drainpipe at that time if it did exist, because Ron was also going to excavate and repave the driveway and any drain pipe was to be addressed then as stated in our contract. The amount of fill and width of disturbed area clearly indicate excess fill was removed from behind the boulder walls and not hauled away but spread on my lawn. I have pictures and video. (I have since found a buried boulder in this area, pictures available) When dismissed, Ron became irate and verbally abusive. Holden Police were called. This occurred on Thursday June 19th, Ron was supposed to begin paving (asphalt and paver bricks) and arrived roughly 4:30 PM. I approached Ron and asked what the timeline would be. I was concerned with this considering the project started nearly 3 weeks earlier and now he was going to rip out and excavate the entire driveway, and leave the walls unfinished and a mess in my yard until he was done. Ron refused to provide an estimate/timeline stating he doesn't "micro-manage his business that way". I asked for clarification and Ron made it clear he could not tell me how long it would take or what the plan was. I told him I couldn't have that, and informed him I didn't want him doing the driveway. He immediately became verbally abusive using profanity and approached me in an intimidation manner, yelling at me (He's a big guy, maybe 280lbs, and as tall as I am 6'2" maybe a bit taller). To my amazement, I still don't understand how he could act like that when we could have simply settled up in a professional manner. I backed away and called the police when Ron attempted to start tearing the wall out. I filed a No Trespass Order with the Holden Police and do not want him back on my property. Ron lies profusely and cannot be trusted. He will tell you anything, do something else, and then only when he wants to do it. He left a pile of fill in my driveway for 5 days until I asked him to remove it. He never asked if it was ok or apologized later. He can talk a good talk, and seems like a nice guy, but he WILL cheat you and leave you hanging while he juggles multiple jobs. I feel sorry for his crew, they were nice. We had a conversation with 2 Holden Police officers present but did not settle any differences.
Description of Work: Ron was contracted to complete 2 retaining walls and repave the driveway for a total of $8,800. The initial time estimate provided was 2 days for the walls and 2 days for the paving. I expected there may be some time between the 2 phases. He began on June 2nd and the walls were mostly complete on Thursday June 12th. The Versa-Lok landscape retaining walls were built incorrectly. The large wall was not built deep enough. Per versa-lok specifications the bottom course must be fully below grade to prevent the wall from moving. This is a standard installation requirement for landscape retaining walls. Additionally, because it is not deep enough it is impossible to grade the pavement in the area and maintain proper drainage. To mitigate this problem I am installing pavers at an additional cost, but it may not "fix" the wall per say. To fix the depth I'd have to pull it out and completely rebuild it. I'm hoping it stays in place. The shorter wall has no gravel/drainage behind it. Our contract states both walls were to have drainage.

They didn’t seal coat it after they were done. It eroded over the winter. We had mushrooms popping up through the asphalt. I called them about a dozen times to come and do the sealcoating. They finally did come and I had to do a lot of repairs myself. I’m not certain how long the work will last. I would not recommend them. The only positive was they were cheaper than other companies.
