Installation and service of hot air heating systems and central air conditioning systems and air duct cleaning
We have a thirty-five year old cape with hot water baseboard heating; therefore, our home has no existing ductwork for central air conditioning. We did not want to alter the colonial look of our home to accommodate chases to hide new ductwork for a central air conditioning system. Though air conditioning the second floor from the attic above would not be a problem, getting a sufficient quantiity of cooled air to the first floor without major alterations to our home was the challenge. Mid-State Air Systems was able to design a system which utilized the space in existing closets for ductwork between the attic and the first floor. We were skeptical about the efficacy of such an approach and what its impact would be on the utility of our closet space. Mid-State Air Systems arranged for us to tour an exising client's home which used a similar ductwork through the upstairs closets approach. Still a little unsure of the approach's impact on our specific home, Mid-Sate Air Systems agreed, for a small refundable fee if we purchased the air conditioning system, to layout the specific ductwork paths in our closets. Understanding that the ductwork through the closet approach limited Mid-Sate Air System's options, we expected a very modest benefit from the air conditioning on the first floor. Well, we have been very pleasantly surprised. The air conditioning on the first floor is very uniform, quiet, and sufficient even on the hotest days of summer. Even first floor rooms that were unable to have a vent installed (because of the locations of the closets on the second floor) are very comfortable. As expected, airconditioning the second floor was straight forward and resulted in a system that is everything we wanted. Mid-State Air Systems installed the system quickly and neatly with a high degree of attention to detail. Shortly after completion of the system there was a small component failure which was quickly corrected. The workman were knowledgable and polite. My biggest problem was reorganizing my attic storage after my things were moved to accommodate the air conditioning air handler and ductwork. I noticed only a small increse in my electric bill over non air conditioning months. The Bryant 2-stage compressor and the Bryant Evolution Control System runs the system efficiently, quietly, and provides lots of flexibility.
