They corresponded with me by E mail, asking the same questions over and over again as different people took over and then, finally, told me they only worked on fife alarms that went with security systems and I should call an electrician. Waited 10 days for that duh advice. Waste of time.

They delivered the central vacuum equipment ($400.00), activated the security alarm system and made some rudimentary suggestions for a sound system but such recommendations were limited only to what they had in their inventory and were not creative about what I needed. In other words, their approach was ... we have this high end inventory and can give you a good price on it without regard to our needs. My biggest complaint is that, despite purchasing $400 in central vacuum equipment from them, they tacked on a $125.00 service charge for coming out to the house. When I ordered the equipment and requested the service, Kevin, the Dispatcher said nothing about a service charge and I think it is completely unreasonable to assess an additional charge at that level essentially for delivering the equipment. Had I been informed about that, I could have driven to their location and picked up the equipment. Despite my attempts to have the service charge retracted after the visit, they declined to do so ... unless I purchased some of their sound system equipment and services, in which case they said they would give me the first hour free. NO THANKS! I will never do business with A to Z Integrated Systems again and advise that you not do so either.
Description of Work: I purchased a motorized central vacuum wand and hoses. Also, asked them to activate my home security system because we just purchased the home and moved in. The system is one they installed when the home was built. Also, asked them to assess my home stereo sound system needs and make a recommendation.

Response from Guardian & A to Z Integrated Systems
Monday, June 24, 2013 – The member called stating that he had purchased a house in the area. He wanted to have the security system, which was installed by our company in 2004, inspected along with being taught how to use the system. Part of this service call would entail changing security codes. He at this time did indicate that he did not want to be monitored. He just wanted to be taught how to use the system. As part of this trip he asked if we could bring a new vacuum hose & power nozzle for the Built-in Vacuum system we had installed in the house in 2004 for the builder of the development. At the same time, he inquired about speakers to be installed in his family room that were removed by the previous owner. Since our files did not show our installing any audio system at this location, we responded by saying we would need to take a look at the situation to be able to help him. The audio system information would be taken during the initial service call and we could get back to him with information on what was available to suit his needs. Our standard procedure with all telephone inquiries is to tell the customer that there would be a $125.00 “call Out” fee which included the 1st hour of labor after which the rate is $45 per each additional 30 minutes. In the event the security system needed anything additional, we could let him know at that time and he could make the choice of having the work done or not. An appointment was set for Friday, June 28, 2013 between noon & 1pm. Friday, June 28, 2013 – Our technician arrived at 11:30 AM to perform the services requested. He reprogramed the security system with new codes, checked the audible alarms, and through testing the equipment found the space on a bedroom door out of alignment and not registering properly. He repaired the contact and retested the security system. All was found to be in good working condition. He then proceeded to instruct him on its operation. Once the service call was complete, our technician brought in the vacuum equipment he requested and we agreed to deliver as a courtesy since we were coming out for the alarm system anyway. Next, they looked at his audio needs. He walked through the house with our technician looking at the living room, master bedroom suite, and finished basement. Our technician took some speakers that we had in stock to see if they might be something he was interested in as up to this point the job was sight unseen… just a guess. If these speakers were not to his liking, the technician would report back to the office and we would further pursue finding the type of equipment that would fit his needs. In addition, he did not have a user’s manual for his security system and asked if we could email one to him. Our technician immediately called the office and the manual was emailed at 12:27 PM before our technician even left his house. See attached email. When our technician submitted the work order for payment he did question the $125.00 charge and the technician explained that this was out standard service call fee for coming to the house and it included the first hour of labor. All service companies, no matter what field, charge a service fee with a one hour minimum. At that point, he seemed to understand and wrote the check for the services rendered and the vacuum equipment purchased. When he responded, later that afternoon, to receiving the User’s Manual for his security system, once again he did not express any dissatisfaction. He, being a business professional should understand the definition of a “Service Call”. If your washing machine isn’t working when you call a service man, he comes out to look at it and says it’s junk… you need a new one… you still have to pay for that serviceman to come out and diagnose the situation. We went to his house, analyzed, repaired, and reset his security system and showed him how it operated. In addition, we delivered the vacuum equipment as a courtesy. It would have cost the same if he came to our store to pick it up. He states that “Had I been informed about that, I could have driven to their location and picked up this equipment”. This is correct and his security system would not have been checked out, repaired, reprogramed and operational. Nor would he have the “Operating Manual” for his security system. He was charged for the service to his alarm system not for our making a delivery. Not knowing what his audio needs were, we brought what we had in stock on the change that it might be what he was looking for. If not, we were prepared to find other choices for him once we knew what he wanted. Speakers come in many shapes, sizes and colors. There was no charge for this either, merely trying to give him an immediate option. When he called later that day attempting to have the service call fee retracted, we explained to him once again that he was not being charged for a deliver. He was being charged for the services rendered to his security system the same way an electrician, plumber, air conditioning technician, computer technician or any other service person would do. In our concern for his disappointment, we offered to “make it right” by crediting an hour toward the installation of his audio equipment once we found something that was to his liking. This was not acceptable to him and he told us not to bother with any more services for him. He originally placed the call for service to his alarm system and is now trying to make it sound as if his security was not important but receiving his vacuum equipment was. We charged him for service to his security system and saved him a trip by bringing the vacuum equipment at the same time as a courtesy. We have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and take pride in customer satisfaction. There are those people who even God cannot satisfy.
