They came out on another occasion as well between visits at no charge as well. I have been very happy with their services.

+ -1 moreThey said that we could apply the fees they charged towards future treatments if we opted to go on something with them. I wanted to go with someone who had good work reputation and they had a good website so I called them up. The guy who came out was very knowledgeable. He was awesome. He was a little goofy but he was extremely knowledgeable. He was talking about bugs and all sorts of pests. You could tell that he absolutely loves his job. We found some wood damage and I was concerned that it might be a recurring problem and he had a quick look at it and said that it was absolutely not a problem and it was long gone. He liked what he saw and said that I do not need any treatments or anything. I like to work with people who are polite and who works well with their customers and I would say that they would get the highest marks for that. They had a perfectly reasonable price compared to everyone else. I had full trust that they knew exactly what they were doing. The inspection was also done within a few days and it was much faster than I expected. Also, the guy was there before I was.

+ -1 moreSo much better than expected. The technician was on time, extremely knowledgeable and truly nice. Lately I have actually had some pretty impressive customer service experiences and Colonial Pest Control is at the top of the list. Both scheduling and the service were top notch. Our tech, whose name is escaping me (pregnancy brain at its best) really put my mind at ease about the treatment. He explained thoroughly all the steps, details about carpenter ant colonies, the solution he was using and what he may find along the way. He reassured me the treatment was safe for our family and pets. Surprisingly as he treated the house the colony turned out NOT to be where we had expected but in another portion of the house. We had recently purchased the house and hadn't lived their long (this is our first Spring) So he gave me key pointers about what to do with landscaping, trees etc to reduce the ant activity around the house in the future. All in all it was a wonderful experience. I'd recommend Colonial Pest Control in a heartbeat and wont hesitate to call them again in the future should the need arise.

+ -1 moreI found a whole lot of termites in a stump about a foot from my house and was worried about them getting into the house. I called Colonial Pest Control to ask about having someone come out to see what, if anything, we would need to do about it. The person I spoke to on the phone was very professional and explained to me that if the termites were only near the house it was not a big deal, and to just keep an eye out when doing yard work and that I could douse that area in termite killer from Home Depot. I highly appreciated their advice and not taking advantage of my lack of knowledge and coming out and telling me that I needed to spent thousands of dollars on termite treatment

+ -1 moreWe had carpenter ants which were evident in the fall but not seen during the winter. As soon as the weather warmed, the ants started to appear more and more frequently. I had called the usual exterminator we use and he repeatedly neglected to return my calls. I found Colonial Pest Control on Angie's List and called them. They response was quick and they answered my questions concnerning our pets and what to do for them during the spraying process which pleased me. The process took about 90 minutes and the service man was very thorough spraying around the outside foundation and any entry hole that ants might use to get in. He also sprayed in the basement after moving insulation and finding evidence of a nest. He took me around the outside and showed me the ants that had fallen out once he sprayed. It has been two weeks and we have seen only 2 ants stroll through. I was told that if the ants persist, a return treatment would be at no charge. I will certainly call them if I feel it tis necessary. I was impressed with the serviceman's knowledge and we are considering becoming regular customers for annual treatments. I highly recommend Colonial Pest Control.

+ -1 moreOverall I found Colonial to have excellent customer service, prompt and convenient appointment scheduling, knowledgeable and helpful service personnel, and reasonable prices.
Description of Work: After calling another provider listed here who hung up on me twice I decided to try Colonial Pest Control. I had ants of varying sizes everywhere and was at wit's end. When I called Colonial the very compassionate man on the other end of the phone empathized and listened to my situation. Immediately I could tell he had experience and understood the seriousness and immediacy of my issue. The representative was able to give me a quote for their standard service for ants and we immediately scheduled an appointment two days away with a specific time (not one of those windows of time like other companies which cause you to wait around). In the past I used Terminix. Their service man was creepy and would often arrive unannounced and I would wake to him staring over me into my bedroom through the window on the back of my house from my back deck. I finally canceled their service as it did not seem to be stopping ants or rodents and I got 2 cats who were doing a better job. The day of the appointment the man who completed the service gave a courtesy call ahead and was even able to come a half hour earlier for my convenience. He was very knowledgeable and patiently answered my numerous questions. He explained what each kind of ant that I pointed out did and even showed me the "king". He then proceeded to identify where the nests were (I had 2 apparently) and treated both inside and out. Immediately the ants ran out as well as centipedes and spiders. Now a day later I have only seen a couple ants and they were dying. I was so pleased I signed up for the reoccurring service which will begin after the first of the year on the spot . I feel confident that I can call on Colonial if I need to to handle any of my pest extermination needs.

+ 0 moreWe had Colonial Pest Control come to our house because we are inundated with Lady Bugs, a form of stink bugs, and my wife heard scratching in a wall about a month ago. Mark and Dana (a trainee it seemed) showed up right on time and Mark was a true professional. I walked him through the house and expressed our concerns. It did not take long for him to find an active wasp nest in the attic and to determine the scratching noise was from bats. Mark called his office and scheduled an appointment immediately for another gentlemen to come out to give a quote to solve our bat issue and to plug some holes where the critters most likely got in. They do not kill the animals, which my wife liked very much. We signed up for the semi-annual treatment for our 2,500 sq ft home, which is the anuual cost reflected in this review. We can't wait for a ladybug/strinkbug/wasp free home!

+ 0 moreI scheduled the "wildlife expert" to come out on my husband's day off to remove a bat from our basement. They showed up almost 2 hours late only to tell my husband that due to our metal roof they would not help us. You would think that should be a question they ask on the phone when they scheduled the appointment but they didn't! Instead we STILL have a bat in the basement and my husband is p***** off at me because he wasted a day off waiting for them only to be told they wouldn't help. Thanks for NOTHING but aggravation Colonial Pest Control. We will NEVER recommend you to anyone. The only reason I chose you was beacuse you had high rating on Angie's list. Boo!!!!

+ -1 moreFrom the beginning, every rep of Colonial Pest Control was on-time and professional. After scheduling our original appointment, they had to change the date because it was a holiday, and I got multiple phone calls to confirm the date change. On the day(s) of the repairs (it's a 3-day process), I hardly knew they were there. They repaired the issue and left the house in good condition with no trash or evidence they had been there.
Description of Work: Living in an old house, over the years, squirrels had found their way in to the eves in the roof. We wanted to get this resolved prior to the winter so that no squirrels would need to be killed while in the eves. Colonial Pest Control was recommended by a neighbor. Their rep came to the house and gave a spot-on estimate and scheduled a date to begin the services. The company completed their work on-time and within budget. I would not hesitate to recommend them for any type of critter control / removal services.

They took time to check them out and look up proof that they were a harmless bug that was seeking warmth in the cold weather. They could have done service and charged me but did not. I learned quite a bit from the flea page, and there was also a worksheet to tell you the steps to make the most out of their visit & application of chemicals. Apart from there being a miscommunication about the start time, there were no issues and the staff was helpful & friendly when contacting them and discussing our flea situation. The next morning after the application, I did find a few dead bugs, one may have been a flea, the other a stink bug - pretty happy to find that the chemical got rid of those too! The guarentee the work, if we have another flea situation within 6 months, they will come out again at no cost to us. I found them to be much more reasonabley priced than other companies on Angie's List, plus they have a 15% coupon. Would recommend this company and/or use their services again - hope we don't have to!

Description of Work: Colonial Pest came out to check some post powder beetle damage. That wasn't a problem, but they did find mice infestation and bats in the attic. They were professional, ontime, nice to work with and I thought their prices were very fair, plus there's a 7 year guaranty on the bats, which is great.

+ 0 moreThe service person arrived right on time. He installed squirrel proof netting over the vents in the peaks of the roof. He put a one way trapdoor in the vent where the squirrels had chewed their way into our attic and set a live trap on the roof. The second day, a service person arrived to check the trap and asked if we had heard any squirrels in the attic. I was very happy to say the for the first time in 3 weeks, we had not been awaken by squirrels running and chewing on the ceiling above our heads. They will return each day for three more days and then secure the vent. They garantee their work for two years.
Description of Work: They covered the roof vents with squirrel proof wire, installed a oneway trap door to let the squirrels out but not back in. They set a live trap on the roof to remove squirrels that are active on the roof, they came back every day for 4 days to check the traps.

+ -1 moreThe fact that I live near the water in an old house that has foundation issues means I understand the problems but I was still pretty freaked out. Tim and Terry were great in handling the problem and giving me the assurance that I needed. The $450.00 covers the problem for 6 months, so time to fix the foundation issues in the Spring and yet stay here comfortably throughout the Winter.
Description of Work: I returned home on a Friday night after being away for 5 days and noticed that something had chewed through hard plastic on my dishwasher, leaving large chewed pieces, insulation and a half chewed apple. Totally freaked out I didn't stay there. Early Saturday morning I started calling pest services. The fact that Colonial did not have someone to come over immediately on the weekend is the reason for the B in responsiveness. They did send Terry over on Monday to assess the problem and he noticed that I had rats, mice and squirrels. Then Tim came over on Wednesday to lay out bait and traps and then a week later to remove the carcasses.

The individual who came out to assess the bats was extremely knowledgeable and able to provide a good quote for us along with timing recommendations of when the service will be performed. In 14 years I have never had an issue with Colonial.
Description of Work: We have been a customer of Colonial Pest for the past 14 years and recently moved to a new house. They transferred our current agreement to the new house (along with pre-agreed pricing) and came out to inspect and provide routine maintenance for ant and mice. A separate individual came out to assess suspected bat activity in the attic and quoted us for the removal.

+ -1 moreTerry, the gentleman who came, was excellent! He was very knowledgeable and explained everything as he worked his way around the house. He also noticed a couple of minor things my home inspector did not and gave me a heads up. There was a mix up with the seller, and we were unable to get into the house, and Terry offered to come back a few days later and only charge me for one visit. The second visit occurred on the Monday of hurricane Sandy. I was sure Colonial would cancel, but they didn't. Terry always called before he got on the road to let us know when he would arrive - even showing up early during the hurricane.

After a little Google research I found that these things live in colonies and I didn't want his buddies moving in. The person who answered the phone was friendly and I was able to book an appointment less than a week out from the initial call. A technician came out to assess the situation and provide a free estimate. After a look over it seems that it was a bit of a fluke that the squirrel had gotten in. There were two minor potential entry points that could be fixed easily. He provided me with an $125 estimate to have Colonial do the work if I didn't want to do it myself. The technician was friendly and courteous. I would definitely call this company again if I have any pest issues.

+ -1 moreWe had discovered a large nest of carpenter ants in the house we are moving into. Having dealt with them in other parts of the country, I had some experience with them. The technician, Mike showed up on time, assessed the situation and explained in great detail what he would do. He also made suggestions on things to prevent a recurrence of the problem. We left the residence while he went about his job, returned a few hours later to find the ants dead and dying. As I stated before I have used other pest control companies in other parts of the country, and I can't recommend Colonial highly enough!
