Not knowing whom to call, I called several people on Angie's list for estimates. All were very professional. I decided on Colonial Pest Control for no particular reason other then they had positive reviews. Being a working person, I really appreciated the punctuality of the person that came to my house. He inspected my house and treated both inside and outside my house thoroughly. As of today, I have not seen any ants - but I was assured that they would be back if I have a recurring problem. Although the job was a bit pricy, they do offer a senior discount and a warranty that extends until March of next year. So in the long run it might be more economical than hiring someone that only gives a 3 month warrenty. I would recommend them to anyone.

After I called to get a quote, Terry came out on Monday to take a look (I had previously had work done for carpenter ants, and the guy that came noticed the termites outside the house and showed them to me). Terry took a thorough look outside the house and in the basement, and noticed mud tubes by the garage as well as in the basement right near where the outside mud tubes were. He was very knowledgeable, and explained in detail how the Sentricon system works (as well as how the Termidor-style treatment works, and how they compare). Terry took off part of a mud tube, so I could see the termites in there. He said he'd bet they would rebuild the tube within a few hours. I went out about 2 hours later, and the termites were very active going up and down where the tube had been, but it hadn't been rebuilt. I went back about 2 hours after that to take some pictures, but the tube was rebuilt, with no clues that there were very active termites under it. Terry really seemed to know his stuff (he also explained that termites cannot survive long exposed to sunlight, as opposed to the less accurate response I got from a national company that told me "If they see light, they die"). He was also good about getting an appointment set up, even though I wasn't ready to commit yet (I wanted to hear back from another company), by saying that he would set it up (to get the appointment as soon as possible), but that I could just call to cancel at no cost if I wanted. On Friday, Zack came right on time. He seemed very passionate about his job. He installed 30 Sentricon HD bait stations, and spot treated where the termites had been, and scraped off the mud tubes. He also did a great job explaining everything to me, and clearly knew what he was doing. Overall, I was very pleased with the experience.

We were noticing some spiders and carpenter ants increasingly in our home. But the biggest issue was wasps outside. They seemed to swarm us whenever we walked through the door. Several were making their way inside. They would promptly die, but it was not fun. I called about having Colonial come out. They were very friendly, informative and professional. They advised a semi-annual contract, which I happily agreed to. The first visit, Paul arrived a little early and I wasn't home, but he just got started from the information I had given over the phone. He had already found a GIANT wasp nest over the most used exterior door of my house. He also found a smaller one nearby. He had also located the carpenter ant nests and identified some problem areas (wood pile near the house). We signed the paperwork and he went back to work. He sprayed all around the perimeter of my house. I asked if he was only going to do the outside (not a leading question, just an inquiry) and he asked if I wanted the inside sprayed. He told me he would be happy to, but we (and our dog) would need to leave for a couple of hours. He thought the outside treatment would be sufficient, but left the decision to me. After some discussion, we decided to spray the bathroom where the highest concentration of carpenter ants were being seen. He put on a bee suit and dispatched of the GIANT wasp nest. Did I mention it was HUGE? He left paperwork documenting what had been done and what chemicals were used. He told me that if there were any issues before the next scheduled treatment, I should call and he would come back and take care of them. The service covers, basically, anything except termites. It's supposed to be done in spring and fall, but since I'm starting in the middle of summer, we are skipping the fall treatment and I will call with any issues. He gave me literature for termites and other pests. It has only been an hour since he left, but I'm already seeing dead bugs and I have a very good feeling about the success of the treatment. I'm aware that it will take a few days for it to be completely effective. I've used pest control companies in other places I've lived and can tell that he was very thorough and very conscientious. He was very careful about the safety of the pet who live here as well as the humans. I am very pleased with the service so far. I have a large home (approx. 4,000 sq. ft.) and feel that $200 semi-annually is very reasonable. Today, I feel like it was worth $200 just to have the wasp nest removed! Can't say enough nice things about Paul. He was very professional, conscientious, knowledgeable and efficient.

He came on time, looked around and had to remove some insulation to get at a problem area. After he finished spraying he cleaned up and reinstalled the insulation. We have a yearly contract with them. Thay know what they are doing and are very professional.

Everything went smoothly. I called Thursday to set up an appointment, and got one for the following Monday. The person came right on time, asked some questions, and explained what he was going to do. The timing wasn't quite perfect for us (since you need to be out of the house for a few hours), but he had no problem working around our schedule by starting on the exterior. The work is guaranteed through the end of March, but he also mentioned that they have an annual contract that covers most types of pests (and had the form in the paperwork, in case I wanted to sign up), but there was no pressure to do so. He explained that it is normal to see some within the next 30 days, and that after that, I should call if there are any issues. As he went around the house, he found a piece of wood near the house that had termites on it (which he showed me, so I could see for myself). He said he would let me know if he found any signs of termites or termite damage inside the house (he did not). He also explained that they do termite treatments, but again without any pressure to sign up (which I most likely will). That's probably an easy sell (I've already paid for service, and termites are scary to homeowners), so kudos to them for not pushing.

On their initial visit at the start of my service with Colonial the tech was really great--I followed him around the house for the full 45 minutes he was here and he answered ALL of my questions...he was incredibly knowledgeable and explained things in a patient and clear way. He pointed out places where I should trim my trees/bushes to keep pests away from the house, and I learned more about flies than I ever thought I'd need to know. The second time they came out (for the mouse problem) was an equally good experience. Again the tech (different guy) was on time, courteous, and extremely knowledgeable. We'll see how it goes, but I don't anticipate any more mice problems. All in all, I've been incredibly pleased with the service provided by Colonial so far, and their price seems reasonable for the amount of support you get...particularly if you have an older house like mine with many spots for pests to get in.

They were fairly reasonably-priced and were flexible with the scheduling. They were professional, showed up before we had to go to work, and performed the service. They told us if we saw any more ants within a 3 week period, they’d come back out without any additional charge, which is why I decided to go with them initially. They ended up not having to come back, since we’ve seen a dramatic improvement.

The people are very nice and we like their service. However, sometimes they are very late to come to the house. That is the only downside, otherwise they are good. We recommend them.

They are excellent. they promptly responded to my initial call, took the time on the phone to discuss and answer all of my questions, and when they did come (several times at my request) they found a large carpenters nest in the wall of my home - which in my opinion saved my house! I would definitely recommend them.

The man sprayed outside area of the house to create a barrier against insect penetration into the house. So far so good .A second application will be performed in the Fall.

They come out twice a year. They're punctual and do a good job. They come and spray and I don't have any bugs. I don't have to be here for them to do their job.

called in to ask for an estimate -- they started to give me a price but got worried about the barn, and instead setup a time to have someone come out to give an estimate -- they asked for an early time; told them that was fine but not to ring the bell so as to avoid waking the 2 year old -- true to the request -- the gentlemen that showed up to do the estimate knocked quietly, and provided an estimate. they called me later in the day to ask if i had any more questions and/or if i wanted to schedule the work. They came out on their scheduled time and made sure that the house was buttoned up and the 2yo was safely "away" before beginning. They were professional and thorough. My wife and i are sure looking forward to a summer without wasps on the back deck!

They do what they say they are going to and are there when they say they will be there.

I found them on the internet. I like the fact that their billing is accurate. They arrive when they say they’re going to arrive, and so they’re punctual. Their customer service is good because if I need to call them back out for a re-treatment, there’s no issue about it. I will absolutely continue to use them in the future.

I found them on Angie's List. I was very pleased with them. I had a swarm of little critters in my house, and they came out the same day that I called them for the diagnosis. They scheduled a week later at my convenience to do the treatment. They immediately identified the problem and where it was coming from. They did not try to sell me on anything above and beyond. They dealt with the problem at hand and did it very quickly. One of the things that influenced me was that they had a coupon for services on Angie's List. They had the same discount on their web site.
