A Kirkos Masonry

I would NEVER EVER use him again or refer him to even my enemy! I was referred by a friend & neighbor of his, who “he did a beautiful job building my (her) retaining wall.” I had a shotty retaining wall built, about 4x6 & 2-2.5’ high, by another word of mouth referral from my neighbor. The center was caving in. The asphalt crack was about 3’ Long. The inside foundation hairline crack was about 10’ Long from top to bottom. He came on time & did the work. I had to leave him outside to go to an appt. I got back to find the cracks in the foundation & the walkway was the worse I’d even seen. The cement he used for both were not the same color as the surface he used it on. I told him I wanted the foundation crack to be cosmetically fixed so the crack wouldn’t be noticed by perspective buyers when I sell my house. Well the cement he used was about 4 shades darker than the foundation wall & CLEARLY NOTICEABLE!!!! I didn’t walk on the retaining wall for 24hrs let he told me to. Once that time passed, I checked to see if he cemented the overhanging patios blocks & he DID NOT do some & some blocks were “cemented” to the stonedust but still able to be lifted up! I specifically requested they be done so people didn’t step on them & hurt themselves by falling off. I called & he was surprised that the blocks weren’t holding. I also mentioned my dismay about the foundation fix. He agreed to returned to recement the patio blocks. I checked them again in 24hrs & it was the same story. I called him again & he had the audacity to tell me “there’s nothing else I (he) can do, what do you (me) want from me (him)”?! After my explicit demands to have a retaining wall rebuilt correctly, he finally returned on a day I wasn’t home (after I saw him drive by my house 2xs while I was home & never stopped...he had no reason to be in the area), he added more cement to the over hanging block & a few places in the center. I’m all he just needs to stay retired & never pick up any tools to use on someone else’s home! He’s a scam artist. I even told him he charged me way more for my retaining wall that he only had to remove the top blocks off & fill with sandstone, then he charge my friend to BUILD her BRAND NEW retaining LARGER wall!!

He's been in the masonry business all his life and he does a lot of specialized concrete and tile work. He was recommended to me and he did a beautiful job. He knows masonry...I think concrete runs through is blood. I probably could have gotten it cheaper, but the quality wouldn't have been as good.
