Use only for Stone work. Unfortunately we let Leo convince us that he could handle the remodeling of our kitchen, master bath, repainting of the entire interior of our home and refinishing of hardwood floors on both the main and upper level of the home. He provided a six week project plan. The project started in October and right away there were problems and he replaced the experienced lead carpenter with his own inexperienced work force which led to lots of issues. Cabinets for the laundry room were not ordered in accordance with our sign-offs and had to be replaced. The kitchen cabinets for the sink run were miss-measured by him by 9" and luckily I caught that in time but there were still issues with the cabinets that he couldn't resolve. The master bathroom cabinets were miss-ordered (only finished on the fronts and not the sides! ) and had to be re-ordered at Stone Project's expense. The project coordination was horrible. At one point he had people doing sanding and construction work in the kitchen and at the exact same time had the painters painting the Kitchen ceiling..........you guessed it, that had to be repainted. Also, while putting plaster on the walls for the cabinet pantry, they put the cabinets in at the same time resulting in wet plaster on the cabinets that needed to be removed. The process of attempting to refinish the hardwood floors was a nightmare. After staying at a hotel for a week we came home and found they weren't finished correctly. To make matters worse, Leo's Stone Project employees put down Ram Board to protect the floor.......but they did it with masking tape which pulled off the finish!.....his floor subcontractor abandoned him and he had to hire another subcontractor to redo the floors so we had to exit the house again for another week. Less than 6 months from those being redone and they're already peeling! Anther example of Stone Project's ineptness was that while trying to find a stud to hang a cabinet in the master bathroom they drilled no fewer than 30 holes looking for a stud (and yes they were using a stud finder). He finally admitted he didn't have the expertise to finish the woodwork in the bathroom after months of leaving it unfinished and without electrical outlets. The subs were constantly complaining about his inexperience to us and that he wasn't paying timely. He also kept telling the subcontractors that he knew what he was doing because he had a business management degree from Northeastern. We had paid Stone Projects/Leo everything (some amounts were even in advance of the that we owed him except his 20% holdback and he began demanding the holdback although the laundry room and bathroom were far from complete and we had a three page list of open items 6 months into the 6 week job. He told us we were being unreasonable to not pay him the holdback as they continued to work, but that's the purpose of a holdback.......you don't pay it until the job is completed and that was his payment arrangement. He abandoned the job in March and we haven't heard from him since. We have heard from several of his contractors who were looking for payment, but we showed them that the arrangement clearly had Stone Projects responsible for payments. We are in the process of working with other contractors to get the job finished correctly and totaling up the cost of that and the required rework to be able to take the proper next steps. The stone work came out great and that's consistent with the other reviews but we strongly recommend that you avoid using Stone Projects for anything other than stone work. Go with an experienced general contractor.....we should have!

They were good. We did a lot of price comparisons. It ended up being a little longer between the measurements and the installation than they had promised. The work was pretty good, actually. There was just one issue that I had.

The price was much better than the other place that I went to first. The woman in the office let me pick out the exact piece of granite that I wanted and even marked a blemish to make sure that that part wasn't used. She suggested that I get an undermount sink which made a huge difference in how it looked in the end. The sealer that they used was great and even though my granite is white, it's held up really well. I'm planning to use them again for countertops in my new place that I'm about to buy!

Description of Work: Showed up right on time (after calling when they were 10 mins out to confirm). Once onsite they took right over and actually did more than promised and charged me LESS because the estimated measurements I originally provided were a bit off. Amazing company I would not hesitate to use again.

We really liked dealing with this company. Very responsive and professional. We went to them after visiting a competitor. Found the entire experience very satisfying. We dealt with Leo, who came out to take measurements. Liked that he got back to us quickly with a quote. We found a nice piece of granite and had a job scheduled within a week to ten days. The installation went fine. The team of two was on time and very friendly. They were done the same day and did a nice job cleaning up afterwards.

We were very impressed with Stone Projects. The granite itself was beautiful and the cutting of the stone was smart; on one long counter which required two pieces, the matching of the two separate pieces was done perfectly with precision and artistry. The price was well within the range I had expected, the estimator explained things well, the man who did the measurements was accurate and took care. The day of the installation, everything went smoothly, and the men doing the installation were polite and dedicated. I got the impression that they took pride in the work, and it showed. We are very happy with the counters and I am very happy that I went with them.

I was very impressed with everyone at Stone Projects. I contacted several granite companies in the area to get quotes for a new piece of granite that was going into my existing kitchen. Stone Projects was by far the most responsive and professional. Rebecca in the office was very knowledgable and helpful. The owner himself, Leo, came to the house to measure and check the stone. The installers were very thoughtful and efficient, they even gave helpful information about the future care of my countertops. Plus, they had the most reasonable price. I know this was a small piece of stone compared to most of the jobs they do, but they took the time and treated us well. I highly recommend them.

I highly recommend Stone Projects, LLC. From my initial meeting with Rebeca, to the final install, I was impressed with every employee. I always spend time comparing at least three providers for any home project and Stone Projects had the most competitive price & did an amazing job on the fabrication/install. They fabricated the granite to be seamed at the front of the sink & under the faucet at the back which leaves the rest of the honed granite smooth and beautiful. This is my fourth kitchen remodel. I wish I had known Rebeca & the team for my previous projects. I don't make recommendations lightly, but I am completely confident in spreading the news of my very positive experience. with Stone Projects.

Have used Leo and Stone Projects for two of my homes now. Leo came to our home to take a digital template, which avoided us from having to remove our countertops and be without a kitchen. Install was quick and easy, with clean up and everything in under 3 hours. Stone Projects has precise machinery for cuts, beautiful work.

started at their show room in Woburn. Rebecca was very friendly and had all the anwers to our questons. She helped us make our decision and in the end the job came out even better than expected. Leo came to our house and did all the measuring and went thru the whole process. He gave us a time schedule and everything happened right on time. The installers were terrific and the house was cleaned to perfection. They made the project an easy part of our remodel. Thanks to everyone and will recommend them to everyone

Stone Projects had the stone we wanted at reasonable price. Be careful on the specials quoted on the site. Leo has more add on charges such as $200 for sealing and $200 for a stove cutout as well as extra charge for large radius cuts than we saw from other shops. With all the additional costs the prices were still OK but not a 'bargain'. Rebecca, the owner's wife and office person, is great to work with. Very friendly and responsive. The installers were great also. Our challenges were with Leo, the owner. As other reviewers have said, we found him to be extremely argumentative and less than professional, particularly how he treats female customers. We had several issues with the installation that Leo repeatedly stressed were not his fault. Perhaps they were or were not, but the endless arguing was very frustrating. Leo eventually did offer to remove the counter which is installed out of level and have our contractor level the underlying cabinets but by then we had already had the plumbing completed and decided to live with the results. I needed to go back install different support brackets and patch the drywall. All of this could have been avoided if we would have been told how bad a shim job would be and not be told repeatedly after the work was installed that it wasn't his fault. The point is that the problem could have been avoided but the owner hasn't wanted to hear that.

Response from Stone Projects LLC
I agree 100% that the problem could have been avoided, if [Member name removed] had paid attention to a form He signed at my showroom that requires all cabinets to be leveled and flat. [Member name removed] was also never available at the job site leaving all critical decisions to be made by his wife, which made the process much more difficult. 1-[Member name removed] purchased the product in 09/14/13 at my showroom, and upon selecting the stone, he was given and signed a pre-template checklist that stresses items such as his responsibility to have all cabinets leveled and flat. 2-[Member name removed] requested a template for 10/30/13, and he was clearly not ready. I personally arrived at the house, and the Kitchen was covered with spray paint, and the room was totally covered in plastic with a very strong paint smell. He was not available, and the special request for a 16" radius on both corners could not be clearly explained by his wife. He made attempts to explain to me over the phone, and came to realize that an additional template visit would be required. 3-On the second template visit, I told him that one cabinet was higher than the others, and that would force us to use shims on the peninsula area. 4-On the day of installation, I was also available at the house, and after putting the big and heavy peninsula piece in place, we showed the wife how bad the level of the cabinets were. He was again not at the house, and his wife was very frustrated with the gap. I explained her that the gap was related to the bad level on cabinets, and the brackets she purchased would not work. She was able to get hold of her contractor (neighbor), that came to the house to check the issue. My installers suggested having him remove the brackets, and building up the level on the half way, and moving forward with the installation. We waited about 20 minutes on site, and after a phone call between husband and wife, they decided to move forward with installation. I personally offered her to bring the pieces back to the shop, and wait for them to finish the work they never did in the first place, having the cabinets ready for counter top installation. All my charges were disclosed to them at the showroom personally prior to having the contract signed, and they accepted them all. Not all customers have 16" radius on islands, and those requests trigger additional charges. Cutouts are also charged, and all customers have the information disclosed prior to signing the contract. Again, not all customers have cooktop units like he has, and that is an additional charge. I take pride of my work, and my statement can be backed up by signed forms, and pictures from job site to anybody who wants to see the evidence. Our big disagreement is the fact that they think I should have told them, and stressed out how bad the level of their cabinets were. I wish they had paid more attention for the form they signed back on our first meeting that talks about their responsibility with cabinet level. I personally recommend homeowners to hire professional contractors, and read and understand their responsibilities, so we can avoid frustration during the process, and with the final product. Sincerely, Leo Chantre President/Owner of Stone Projects

I was happy with the service. Leo (the owner) was very professional. I was amazed with the accuracy of the granite slabs as cut per the laser template. The laser captured all the irregularities of my walls, so when butted against it, the granite has a very uniform small gap. I did not appreciate the $200 sealer charge. I felt this was something I could do, and buy a bottle of for $20 - $40 on Amazon... but I understand the need for diversifying the revenue stream and the appearance of cost structure :). Installation went good, the counter top looks excellent. To the people complaining about the selection. There are only a few of these big granite warehouses in the Boston metro area (3 or 4) with really large selection. The one in Winchester does not do the installs (and I would assume the other two or three), that is done by your contractor (like Stone Projects). You pick your stone, give them the name of your contractor/installer, and they give them the cost. Some of these contractors carry a limited stock of their own, which gives you the advantage of cutting out the middle man, or getting back that cost. So if you shop at the big warehouse find something you like, then if you find something similar at the little guy's stock you can probably save some money. Just get a few quotes and compare.

We stumbled upon Stone Projects while trying to make a decision about cabinets for our new kitchen. We did a full gut remodel, to the studs. We were impressed by our first visit to Stone Projects - Leo, the owner, was there on a Saturday and walked us through the process and costs involved. We came back once we had our cabinets ordered and our final layout. We picked our slab and and put down our deposit. We also got our sink from them. Their price was super competitive compared to Lowes and Home Depot and since those places often sub contract the work out, we felt better working directly with a local person vs using the big box stores as a go between. Once our cabinets were in and level, Leo came on site to template and then later that day I heard from his office about the install date. They were right within the 7-10 business days (we waited 9 business days) it says in the contract, which is fine (though of course I would have loved for them to come sooner!). The installers came about an hour early (which was great) and did a fantastic job. The seam is barely visible and everything looks amazing. My contractor has worked with lots of vendors but had not heard of Stone Projects - he texted me this week for their info to refer them to a new client (and he didn't give us ANY referrals when we asked so I take this to mean he was impressed with Stone Projects). I felt like the entire process was smooth and easy. The staff was very responsive and did a fantastic job. Pricing was competitive and service was great. Highly recommend them!

Fantastic! I found the company on the internet and checked them out on Angie's List. I called Leo and he came the next day to do an estimate, which was fair. He measured, checked, double checked and I signed the contract. I didn't feel it was necessary, nor did I have the time to go to the warehouse to select a certain piece of granite - I trusted him to deliver what he promised and he did. Leo said the counters would be ready early the following week, which they were. He e-mailed me the final invoice and we made arrangements for installation on Tuesday. The installers were on time and did a good job - they were very careful. We had to have 1 seam because of the size of the piece, but you really can't even see it. I have nothing but great reviews for Stone Projects.

I called the company and talked about price and timing. I found them on the internet so I was concerned about services and if they were reliable. I was mostly interested in price. I went to the showroom and saw granite. The owner made an appointment to come measure within a week of calling. He showed up in time and discussed what I wanted. He brought samples. Since I was buying a special as advertised my selections were limited. I was concerned about the color being too dark for my small condo kitchen. He told me he would see if he had a remnant and not to worry. He did find a remnant and I love the granite and the color is perfect and the price was the same. He was a pleasure to deal with and very professional. One week later his men came with the granite and installed. They suggested I remove a tile boarder around the counter so they removed it to install the back splash. They showed up on time and work fast and efficiently. They were the most pleasant men and the cleanest work men I have ever had in my condo. They even washed the floor when they were done. They did have to come back with additional back splash and did so within a couple of days (do to my schedule) and finished the work. I am thrilled with the granite and my association with the company and people. I would use them again at anytime. The work was finished on time and at exactly what was quoted for the job.

We went the the showroom to pick out the granite. The selection was not enormous and the showroom was not impressive in the least. They did not have many slabs on site. After selecting the granite we wanted, they had us come back to approve the slab. Fabrication took longer than expected and the installation was a bit delayed. This company, in my opinion, is just average.

We never performed any work to this customer. We will contact Angies List to find out if it is a mistake of the customer referring to Stone Projects by mistake. We take pride on our work, and on the service we offer. Our warehouse has an average of 40-50 colors in stock with over 300 slabs in inventory.

After a visit to Home Depot, I used Angies List to screen Boston countertop vendors found on Angies List and a Google Search. From Angies List reviews and the Ripoff Report website I learned the lowest cost per square foot granite countertop vendor, Excel should be avoided. The first countertop vendor I called came on-site and provided an e-mail estimate within 24 hours, but did not have the classic black granite in-stock, so his pricing could not be as competitive as in-stock material. I visited the second vendor's storefront and workshop, and it turned out that their inventory was also sparse, so competitive in-stock pricing was also not available. Pricing formulas varied among the countertop vendors, so the installed cost per square foot is not the only cost factor. Some vendors offer "free" sink cutouts, or even free sinks if you reach a minimum purchase level. Certain countertop corner edge finishes cost extra. I called and then visited Stone Projects which had a large inventory of black granite slabs to choose from. Stone Projects' sink cutout fee and 15 year sealer were required add-on costs, but "apples-to-apples" their price was still competitive. I chose one of the several no-additional-cost corner edge styles. Sink installation and securing of the dishwasher to the countertop were also included in the cost. Because the estimate broke out labor versus materials, sales tax was only applied to the granite, representing a savings compared to other vendors. After charging a deposit of about half the estimated countertop cost based on my measurements, Leo promptly visited the next week with a computer and laser device to make a computer based template. Since my condo is on the 6th floor of an elevator building he also measured the elevator, garage, and entry doors to plan the countertop delivery. Options for dropoff of the countertop (and installers) versus finding parking for the delivery truck were also discussed. Customers should be aware of a few measurement details. The holes for plumbing fixtures were drilled out on-site. So first, if you have a large width sink and large diameter faucet or handle you need to be sure the (inches of) space between the sink and the backsplash is large enough to accommodate the sink handle, faucet, soap dispenser, water filter or hot water dispenser. If the space behind the sink is too narrow your backsplash will need to be milled down to say 3/4" to accommodate the diameter of the plumbing fixtures. Second, the 4 inch backsplash also needs to be included in the calculation. Also remember that cutouts, etc. are not cost subtractions from your countertop square footage- their footage is still needed/ used in the fabrication process. Of course your cabinets and any structural support for the granite countertop need to be plumb and level. Also, if you have a breakfast bar it has to be properly engineered to hold the weight of the granite countertop. A wood cleat support and heavy duty bracket(s) need to be securely screwed into the studs in the wall behind the countertop. (I used a 19" bracket made by KV found at National Lumber in Newton.). Additional framing between the studs may be needed. Also, if your dishwasher has not yet been installed, you (or someone), will need to level it (by adjusting all four legs if needed) and place it exactly where it should be placed under the countertop so the door shuts easily without hitting either side of the cabinet frame or filler trim, and so that the inches of dishwasher door "reveal" you see, if any, matches left and right. Installation problems were minor. I've found a perfect problem-free home improvement project is nearly impossible. I found there was a small, half-a-dime sized chip, in the back edge of the granite breakfast bar near the wall. After initial installation, I did not even notice the flaw. Had I chosen to have a backsplash there, it would have been covered. The installer filled in the chip with a bonding material and fixed it. He also added a small bead of silicone around the breakfast bar and now the flaw is invisible. Also, the plywood cabinet "half-wall" acting an electric range "surround" was dislodged on installation of the countertop. When my carpenter returns, I will have him reattach the plywood and ask him to make sturdier attachments to the wall and cabinet. Finally, good ventilation is needed to get rid of the airborne solvents in the silicone caulk, cleaner, sealant, etc. used in countertop installation. Also, you will want to make sure any tossed out paper towels, etc. are placed in a tied-up plastic trash bag and taken out of your living space. I found Stone Projects was an excellent vendor and installation contractor for my granite countertop. I was pleased with the countertop quality and color selection, vendor communication, estimate, project timeline, installation and commitment to customer service. I also got a free granite cutting board that I may keep or give use as a gift.
Description of Work: I had Stone Projects install classic black granite countertops in a renovated kitchen of a 6th floor elevator building in Brookline, MA. The main countertop was about 8 feet long and had a corner cutout for ventilation shaft and a one inch bump-out to turn a corner. The second countertop was a breakfast bar about 4 feet long.

I am in the process of building a house and originally ordered my kitchen cabinets and countertops through Lowes. Lowes sent the order to Stone Technonogies who made template of the counters and scheduled a delivery date. I was informed the day of delivery by Lowes that Stone Tech was out of business and that they needed to find a new fabricator. Due to time constraints associated with the various trades, required inspection as well as my rental lease expiring I needed to find a replacement fast. To make a long story short Lowes could not find a replacement that could meet my time line and I was given a refund. I found StoneProjects online. I called Leo (he’s the owner) and explained my situation and let him know that I needed the Counters ASAP. Leo met with us, allowed us to view the slabs, estimated the price based on kitchen plans and took the order. Leo was able to template and deliver the counters within a week. His staff that came to do the template was knowledgeable, courteous, polite, and very helpful. Leo came to help and oversee the install. The counters look great; Leo was great to work with and at the end of the day it was cheaper then going through Loews. I would use Stone Projects again.

Stone Projects offered the best price ($39.99/sq.ft) and had good reviews. Their pre-job estimate was accurate, and they arrived on time to measure the template for the counters and then to install them. However, I provided a cut-out template for the sink, which they did not follow, meaning that the reveal along the top of the sink was covered. (The owner later told me that many people don't want the reveals on their sinks to show; I was shocked.) The installers drilled holes for four sink clamps but installed only three. I crawled under the sink while they were there and asked for another clamp. Two clamps holding the sink FELL OUT after they left. (The owner said the clamps aren't important because the sink is glued to the counter; I said why even put them in.) The installers left me to glue three pieces of backsplash because they said the wall was crooked. They ran out of silicone and got lost on the way to Home Depot 2.3 miles from my house. It took them 70 minutes to return. They needed a greenish paint to mix into the seam sealant, which I had to rummage around in my cellar to supply to them. They needed to trim a piece of cabinet but didn't have a saw; I let them use my scroll saw. They didn't have wood or screws, or a drill bit for a pilot hole they needed for the bracing. I supplied it all. After a series of arguments with the owner, he knocked $200 off the final price. That was my suggestion. He wanted to rip out the counters and start again. The counters look great. I added much more sink bracing than they did and it finally looks solid. And the price was right especially with the discount I had to fight for. But, my God, who runs a business like that? The screw ups by the installers I can almost live with; the excuse-making and argumentative amateurish demeanor of the owner I cannot. Buyer beware.
Description of Work: Installed two granite counters with two sink openings. Backsplashes installed as well.

I visited a couple of granite countertop shops before arriving at Stone Projects but what immediately set them apart, was the extremely accomodating and friendly customer service lady that helped me. It was a completely no hassle experiance looking at the slabs, asking questions, getting samples, scheduling, etc. She even gave me a tour of the stone cutting shop. I eventually narrowed it down to two different granite types with different edging and she happily provided me with two quotes to take home. No pressue at all. Even though I did not decide on which granite I wanted, I was still able to schedule the templating which was performed the same week. While I don't believe this is their normal business practice, it was nice that they were flexible about it. Anyhow, when the guys came out, I really appreciated the care that they took while working. They layed down tarps to not only walk on but to keep all of their supplys and boards on. Nothing was leaning on my walls or new cabinets. Of course the most important part, which I was only able to see after the project was done, was that they measured everything correctly to fit my "U" shaped counter. Since I was undecided on the granite type and also wanted to see the template against the slab, I went for a second visit. I finally picked Green Peacock and when placing my template against the slab, I notice an undesireable spot on the slab that could not be worked around. Again, not a problem, they pulled out a second slab to look at. The final task was to bring out and install the countertop. This took place one week after the templating and went as planned. The faucet holes were drilled on site without any mess and the countertop looks wonderful. Stone Projects did a great job all around. I'm very pleased with the price, product, customer support, and installation. I really can't find a reason to rate them less than excellent on the ratings.

I did not use Stone Projects as they did not have my choice of granite.
Description of Work: Stone Projects was one of three companies I considered. The company was responsive to my needs and estimates were ready when I asked for them our first meeting. I wanted a granite that they did not carry. After searching off and on for the past 7 mos, I decided to go with Select Stone in Billerica. I have not had the granite installed yet. There was a question about doing the floor in my kitchen first. So this kitchen makeover is taking some tme but doing slowly allows for thoughtful decisions. Anne C. Munro

Everything went pretty well, the owner was very responsive, gave us a good price and was very courteous. The guys who came to install were very nice and punctual. The only problem we had was that the counter developed a crack as they were installing. They tried to fix the crack by using some sort of sealant, but I would have preferred they replaced it completely. The crack is completely visible and the sealant they used to try to hold it together has a different look than the rest of the stone around it.
Description of Work: We had them install granite kitchen counters.

The price ($40 per sq ft) was half of what we were quoted from other granite places. I was a little worried that we would "get what we paid for," but I was thoroughly impressed and satisfied with every part of the process and the finished result. Leo and his crew were knowledgeable, polite, and professional and the countertops look amazing. All for an outstanding price. I would definitely recommend using this company for your next granite project.
