He gave us a reasonable quote and explained everything, and then was able to install all new locks and deadbolts on the spot. He was extremely professional, courteous, and careful. We will use Star again in a heartbeat for all of our locksmithing needs!

+ -1 moreI thank my lucky 'stars' that, by chance, I found Star Locksmith! I'm a Realtor, and I work with a lot of vacant properties (some of them are pretty scary!). My first experience with Star was when I was assigned a 4-family listing in a "not so great" n'hood. All the locks needed to be changed ASAP. I started making calls based on an internet search. Even after explaining the urgency of the situation some companies couldn't help me for days, others never returned my calls at all. Which turned out to be a blessing! Star responded right away and Bulent came to my rescue within the hour. He assessed the situation and offered suggestions that saved quite a bit of money. He was polite, professional, and worked fast. (Getting out of that n?hood quickly may have been good incentive! :-)) Not only did he do a great job with the locks, he went above and beyond. Before he left he helped me secure all 4 units, nailed a couple windows shut, and even offered to stay while I took pictures and finished up. Since that day I?ve called them for all my jobs, including my own home. All the other agents in my office now use Star Locksmith, as well. They are by far the best locksmith company I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with. They're stuck with me forever now! :-)
Description of Work: I've been using Star Locksmith for close to 2 years now. I wouldn't use anyone else! I'm a Realtor, which makes me a frequent customer. My most recent listing is a vacant 2-family. The first job was to get into the house... Bulent, from Star Locksmith, accomplished this without doing any damage to the door or door frame. I've seen other companies totally wreck doors and frames while trying to get in. New locks were put on the main entrance and exterior door to the basement. Then all the other locksets in the house were disabled. When other Realtors and potential buyers are in the property we want to make sure none of the interior doors can be accidently locked, blocking access to other rooms or apartments. Here's another area where Star "shines" above the competition. Some companies suggest putting new locksets on interior doors which results in having to use, and keep track of, multiple keys. (Of course that also results in more money for them.) After changing or disabling all the locks Bulent made sure that all the old parts were picked up and disposed of. He double checked everything. He also made me multiple copies of the key at no extra charge - and made sure they all worked. That might sound like a little thing but it's really a huge help! Most other companies don't have the equipment in their vans or trucks to make keys at the house. You have to take the original somewhere to have duplicates made and then go back to the property to make sure they all work - which half the time they don't. It's really frustrating! Last, but definitely not least, Bulent also looked out for my personal safety - which is definitely not a job requirement for a locksmith. This property has been vacant for a long time and does not have electricity! While he was there Bulent went through the whole place with me, including the pitch-dark basement. He brought a flashlight and made sure there was nothing (or no one!) lurking in the dark corners. Star Locksmith actually cares about their customers, they're not just out to make a buck. They're prompt, efficient, professional, courteous, and will also try to save you money whenever possible. As always, it was a job well done!

Mr. Hatipoglu responded quickly to my email requesting an estimate. Given the close location of his business to my house, his estimate was the lowest of those I received. He called to confirm our appointment and offered to come early given that I was going to be at the new house earlier than expected. He was extremely professional and friendly, even offering to help me carry in some boxes from my car. He offered suggestions about moving some of the lock hardware and provided estimates for each suggested approach. I would not hesitate to call Star Locksmith for any future lock or key needs.
Description of Work: I just bought a new house and needed the locks changed. Four doors, seven locks total. Also requested additional keys.

+ -1 moreWonderful experience! He was on time, showed me his card and ID when he arrived, and did a great job! We encountered a few issues along the way (old nail in his way, door edge was a bit too small for deadbolt) and he took everything in stride and had creative solutions to all of the issues. We were also working outside in the cold and snow! No problem. Then before he left he cut me two new keys because he noticed my key was a little bent. Definitely my go-to locksmith!

He answered our questions and offered a solution to the fact the company we bought our hardware for did not send us the correct locking mechanisms. He was very thorough and efficient in his work. He even went out of his way to clean up the wood shavings after he finished.

He worked quickly, was friendly and helpful with recommendations. Provided me with additional keys and completed the work sooner than I expected. I would recommend Star without reservation.
Description of Work: Bulent replaced the locks on a rental unit for me. A total of 4, one deadbolt and 3 in knob units. I requested a particular type of lock and he was able to provide it at a better price than the local big box home supply center.

Since I share a two family house, I wanted to replace my key, but retain the use of only one key, and not need two. He easily did so, making it clear he could do so if he had access to seeing my upstairs neighbor's key. He arranged to come the same day, completed the work quickly, and even gave me as many master keys as I asked for. I felt confident and secure in my choice to use their services.

He took the locking mechanism apart and we realized that is was not a standard front door lock. He took the locking mechanism out to his van and rebuilt a couple of the parts and was able to re-install the lock within an hour. Very professional. Explained and showed me the problems and what he was going to do to try to fix it. Well Done!!!
Description of Work: We have a front door lock that was unique/exotic and it literally broke in my hand. Star came out and literally rebuilt the locking mechanism in their van!

He asked me what locks i had purchased from Home Depot and when i showed it to him, he said actually i didn't need to expand the door lock holes because you can take off the "guard" on the lock for smaller holes. He gave me a discount and just helped me increase hole sizes, fix door alignment, and install the deadbolt locks on 2 doors. Overall, very satisfied!
Description of Work: Had 2 deadbolt lock holes that needed to be expanded to 1" and lock hole to 2 1/8". Instead he just installed the deadbolts i had purchased from Home Depot

We also wanted the two locks to have the same key. Bulent came out that evening and gave us a very reasonable estimate. When we decided to move forward, he already had all of the equipment necessary on his truck and he put in the two new cylinders are re-keyed them. He gave us four copies of the key at no additional charge. He was professional, quick and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend using his company and will definitely use him again in the future if we need a locksmith.

I scheduled the work a few weeks ahead but changed the day about four days prior. Bulent was able to accomodate the new schedule. Star locksmith was highly competent and professional. He quoted a price and said he'd have the part the next day. Due to my schedule I didn't even call until several days later. He scheduled to come out the same evening, completed the project, including the second lock. Very courteous and professional .. gave me the Angie's list discount ... and the prices was fair and consistent with his original estimate.
Description of Work: I have an Anderson sliding glass door which was unable to be unlocked with the key; the locking mechanism was damaged. I also had second foot lock which came with the door but which had never been installed. I asked Bulent to give me price for the job.

He showed up a few minutes early, and was very pleasant and polite. He was happy to start in our daughter's room so she could nap after he was done. He tried to save us money where he could, and was happy to explain all our options, along with his recommendations. At one point, he was working in our basement, and saw me moving around boxes from the move, and offered to help move some boxes. That cemented the commitment to service this gentleman had. I was very pleased with the whole experience, and would use him again, and highly recommend him to anyone. The 10% Angie's List discount came in handy too!

He showed up as scheduled and got right to work, fixing the lock and also giving me some advice on what caused the problem and how to avoid it in the future (it was in a vintage door that doesn't always close properly and sometimes we had to force the lock). He was very courteous and friendly, especially to our 5yo daughter who was curious about the work. I'd definitely use him again if we needed more work.
