The people in the office are friendly and personable. They were extremely helpful in getting all the proper paperwork filled out. They tested them and gave me my results exactly when they said they would. I initially selected to have test from the top down (tile then backing) and stop testing if they found positive results in the top layer. After getting the report and seeing that two rooms did test positive, I changed my mind and decided I wanted the backing tested as well. They ran those tests the same day, at the regular rate, and promptly emailed me a full report.
Description of Work: ProScience doesn't do Asbestos removal, they are a testing lab. I am currently renovating a home built in 1863. With linoleum throughout much of the home, I thought it best to have it tested before beginning demolition. Following the directions on their website, I took the samples myself and delivered them to their lab. Because each layer, linoleum and glue/backing, is considered a separate sample, I had 18 samples in total.

The price was right. I was happy to find them. I asked for same day service, which meant they needed to get back to me by the end of the day. By 5:30 no one had called me so I called them. An accountant answered the phone. I got the feeling that he found the test results for me out of the goodness of his heart. I was surprised no one had called me. As it turned out, the material was 30% asbestos so I then had two days to get a quote for removal before we were able to sign a P&S on our house. ProScience did everything fine, except they didn't call me.
Description of Work: ProScience tested a material sample that I brought them for asbestos content.

The tester was okay; he said he had been working very long hours and was exhausted. I sympathized. He took three tape lift tests in obvious places, places where he could actually see a lot of mold. He did not take an air sample test. I told him I had washed an area with bleach and water, and he said chlorine bleach does NOT kill mold. I disagreed, and he insisted that he was right. EPA brochures prove him wrong. He left the tape samples carelessly on top of a surface with little protection until he put them in small zip-lock like bags. He took the money from me and then left. The communication from this company from start to finish was unhelpful and they gave no idea of what they were going to do and even contradicted themselves. I will never use this company again, I had to call another mold testing company to have ProScience's results interpreted because ProScience would only say "you have mold." Well duh, I knew that already! I feel strongly that my money was wasted.
Description of Work: A man from ProScience came out on a Friday evening 2 weeks ago to take some tests to determine if we have mold, and how much we have. When I made the appointment with ProScience, I was told they would take an air sample in addition to other samples. The tester took no air samples and 3 "tape lift" surface samples.

Per a recommendation, I walked into the ProScience offices with a sample of a fireproofing panel from my basement. (Note: The sample was double-packed in a Ziploc bags for safety's sake.) Some chunks had come loose during a home renovation, and I was concerned about asbestos contamination because of the age of my house and the material's appearance. ProScience was able to test on the spot. It was fortunate that the material turned out to be clean! The representative also gave me a quick education about what to watch for if I move or do other renovations. $40 doesn't usually buy peace of mind, but it did this time. I would definitely use this company again for its asbestos, lead, and mold testing services.
Description of Work: ProScience tested a sample of fireproofing material suspected to be asbestos (from its appearance).
