We had an issue with our septic system, but were not sure what the actual problem was.We called, and a technician came out that evening, in the time window promised, and helped us figure out what the problem was and recommended someone to fix it.

Called on Saturday asking for someone to come out and give me a quote for some drain/sewer clog in the kitchen from when upstairs does their laundry (I get water spewing out of my sink garbage desposal and in my dishwasher), I needed them to look at sewer gas issues in my bathroom, as well as to quote reconfiguring the plumbing since I live in a 2-family converted condo and we share a mains stack & some pipes. They sent out a TECHNICIAN, who said he was there to snake the drain. When I explained the other things I wanted done, he said I'd need a plumber. I was shocked that I wasn't dealing with a plumber. I kindly sent him away as I was also having another company come out later in the afternoon to provide the same quote for the same issues. I called back John's, explained the problem with the person they sent out and what I needed done, AGAIN and the women on the phone said she understood and would send a plumber out within the next couple of hours. Great, so I thought. I then I got another phone call from another women, who by the way was extremely RUDE saying they would not be sending someone out again, and that if I wanted a quote, they would provide it over the phone. How do you provide a quote for work when the PLUMBER hasn't seen it yet? When I further explained what I wanted done, she flat out said she wouldn't be sending someone as I didn't have them complete the work when they were there? Well of course I wasn't - I was asking for quotes, NOT to do the work right then and there, and the guy they sent wasn't qualified to do the work I wanted done! Very rude, completely unprofessional customer service on the phone. I do NOT recommend them at all!

Service person arrived 30 minutes in on the 2-hour window. He was done diagnosing and cleaning the drain within 45 minutes of arrival. I especially appreciated that he was diligent in avoiding tracking in dirt and snow from outside when entering the house. Before the contractor left, we thoroughly tested the drain line to my full satisfaction, and the line is still clear 3 months later.

John's Sewer & Pipe Cleaning ripped us off with the unnecessary use of a fiber optics camera. Subsequent to their services we had other plumbers come in a bid on a job to replace the pipe, all indicated that based on the overflow of sewage at one end, no camera was needed to diagnose the problem. As for the $208 to snake our pipe - it took the gentleman 25 minutes to do the job. The remainder of the time he waited for his colleague to arrive with the camera. $208 for 25 minutes of labor hardly sound like a fair price. We asked John's Sewer to bid on the job to replace our sewer pipe. After the initial $500 visit they indicated that they needed to come out to the property to adequately diagnose the issue. We told them that they have a video tape of the entire pipe and two people were already at our house; why the need to have someone else come out? They could not answer the question to our satisfaction. In short we feel that we were over charged to get our pipe rotor rooted and John’s Sewer performed an unnecessary and costly procedure that any licensed plumber could have diagnosed without the use of a fiber optic camera. We told them not to come and give us a quote and we wouldn’t be using their services ever again.

I had a few good experiences with them. They were very good. They were professional, thorough, they did a good job and their price was reasonable. I did call them once to come to my new house, but they never returned my call. I had spent around $300 on that work. I would recommend them to other members.

Excellent overall; everyone was courteous and professional from the phone estimate to the technicians, they called to inform of the time and they would arrive in advance. Customer service is excellent, the technicians were courteous, professional, knew their work, through and were efficient. I would use them again.

We had a very good experience with this contractor. Scheduling was quick and the work was done on time and very well. The two technician who came out were very experienced, professional and personable. They were also willing to answer questions and made recommendations for keeping our system clear. We will most likely use them again when this maintenance is due.

We asked for John's to come over and give us an estimate on changing some pipework for our faucets. After he had given us an estimate we asked him to check out our septic tank. He agreed, took a look and told us that we needed to get it pumped. We agreed and he called someone to pump it. He sat in his truck for an hour and when the tank was pumped he took a look. At no point did he say that he would be charging us for an estimate. After he finished he charged us $150 for taking a look inside the tank. I can only assume he charged us for the time he spent sitting in his truck because he didn't give us an invoice. Very unprofessional behavior. If you are going to charge for something you express how much it is going to cost before you do it.

They were very thorough / helpful on the phone. Promptly scheduled appointment for an estimate. I cancelled the appointment at the last minute due to my scheduling conflicts. They were very reasonable to work with.

Early Friday morning of a long weekend we developed a problem with a clogged drain which resulted in water gushing in the cellar. We were not able to run any water anywhere in the house. Our plumber who told us we needed a company that specialized in drains. We decided on John's Sewer because they were rated highly and worked in our area. Rich, from John's Sewer, arrived on time, was courteous and got right to work. In order to determine the problem he had to dig up the area around the cover of my septic system in the backyard and when he was done he put everything back the way it was. He even took the barrel we had used in the cellar to collect the water and emptied it outside. I was extremely pleased with the service and the job that was done. They had quoted me a price on the phone and stuck to it. I would definitely use them again and would highly recommend the company.

Plumber was on time, early the first time actually only he came with the wrong camera snake. Day 2, plumber arrived nearly on time, tried hard, but in the end didn't give me much information about my problem. He suggested opening a wall and cutting the pipe to try again with a larger camera. I passed for now. Overall, the plumber and everyone I dealt with was professional and pleasant. Just didn't work out for me.

They showed up within an hour of my 2nd call at the beginning of the next day. Did the work, and were pretty polite and careful with their machinery and making sure the area was clean after they left.

My experience with them went very well. They were prompt and got out here and I would use them again. They were very good and remarkable. I thought the price was a lot for coming out but then they got out here within a very short period of time. The only thing I wasn't really happy about was the price. It seems to me that for 20 minutes worth of work $120 was a lot. These guys came out, came on time, came when they said they would and took care of the problem. They knew right away what was wrong too. I have no complaints and I am very happy with them. This is the first time I tried Angie's List. I'm glad I tried Angie's List and I'm not unhappy with the results.

They were personable and on time. They did what they promised to do and didn't leave a mess. The work went well. They were excellent.

Bill was extremely professional and thorough. He explained everything he did and at 60 ft. thought he had cleared blockage, but discovered more roots. At that point he went 30 ft further to get all the roots. Could hear the whoosh of water surging through the drain as he made final cuts. This was a job that required an experienced person. Bill was the man! I will definitely use this company again for maintenance every 2-3 years.

We had a clog in 2 storm drains. We called at 8am, a real live person answered the phone, and a guy was here by 9am or so. The work was done in about 20 or 30 minutes. Super fast--we never expected to be leaving the house by 10am!

Job went well. I highly recommend John's Sewer and Pipe Cleaning. (I've used another company in the past -- very expensive and much less professional.)

Tree roots blocked the sewer line. 5' cracked pipeline dug out, replaced and a new clean-out installed. Problem solved without any issue. The company is very responsive; also offers 3-month warranty. Phone call at 5pm on Sunday and the guy showed up at 8pm. Would hire again.

Called John's Sewer at 8 a.m. on a Monday and scheduled a 1 p.m. appointment. Dennis showed up exactly on time and was polite and very professional. He asked questions before starting and answered all the questions I had. I got to see the machine in action and the bucket of roots which he cleared from the pipe. He ran the machine several times until the spinning claw came back all clear. He cleared it 155' out to the main sewer line. With the main drain clear, the laundry sink still drained slow I asked if he could clear it also and add it to the bill. He did and saved us from having to schedule another appointment. Dennis recommended we have the roots cleared more often than every 7 years. Good advice. Nice work done quickly and efficiently with a positive attitude. The work came with a 30 day guarantee. I couldn't ask for more.

This company came out on time for us to do the work and they were very persistent in clearing all of the problem despite a few difficulties that they ran into. They stuck to the price they quoted and I would recommend them to other people.

We have used them several times for clogged drains and toilets. Originally we found them because they were sent out by our plumber. Now, we call them directly to cut out the middle man. They are quite responsive and will typically come out the same day as called. They do not leave a mess (even though they once had to remove our toilet to get at the problem). Their prices are reasonable. Overall, we're quite pleased.

John's did the video/DVD recording of the sewage line from my house to the city sewage line. This is a mandatory report I needed to submit to Cambridge to get the building permit. John's came out promptly, they were easy to communicate with, they were professional, the quality of the video was good, and there was useful commentary made during the recording. My GC said John's was fine. I ranked the price as grade A, but in truth, it seems all of these video recordings are standardized in price. I got several quotes and they all said the same price. But I gave John's an A because I thought they put in extra care, even though the price itself is the same.

We had tried another company earlier in the day. The first technician came and couldn't find the opening. Luckily we weren't charged. We called John's a few hours later and he was at the house within thirty minutes. He instinctively found the opening to the main sewer line and spent about an hour and a half breaking his back fighting the roots that had caused the clog. Really impressive work. And the best part was we were expecting to pay $500 or more and it was only $245.00!!! I should also mention that this occurred on Memorial Day Weekend.

John's Sewer and Pipe has a great website that allows you to contact them at any time of day or night. This is wonderful, because I have moved to CA and am now in a different time zone. Plus, not all drain issues occur between 9-5. So no matter when I was able to work on the plumbing problem I could always email them and trust that first thing the next morning they would be in touch with my house sitter. They start at 7:30 AM and don't charge overtime for an early call on a weekday. I am not a drain expert, but they seem to stand by their work and to report what they find in a clear way. They have been very helpful and fair to us.

A very friendly and professional plumber worked on my drain with two snakes for almost 1.5 hrs. He was unable to clear the obstruction and suggested that I try and get someone with a camera. (They did not have one available). He gave me a few recommendations and also said that I would not be charged since they did not fix the problem. He apologized for that and cleaned up the area before leaving.
