They followed through very quickly, within a week. They were very good with responding over the telephone. They did very fine work. They did not do a lot of discussion with me about how things were going to be done, and I failed to ask certain questions. Overall the work was very good though. It was very expensive.
Description of Work: They rebuilt my front steps, because they were coming apart (Brick). I had a lot of paves in the back yard that were tared over. I had them take that up, and re-laid them. There was a concrete slab in the back that they resurfaced as well.

Great. Mason and assistant were very experienced and took pride in laying the bricks, doing it brick by brick. The pavers were installed after the porch and the guys installing the plants, tree and sod were pros. Office interaction was resposive and helpful, and Rich understood what I wanted. It looks great and worth the investment! They are a great team of pros!

The paver project went well, but not after damage to front yard ground cover plants as their supplier ran truck over yard to deposit pavers. There was no communication from Gerriror folks that the delivery would take place separately from arrival of crew. The delivery folks were apparently not asked by Gerrior to ring my bell to discuss best holding area for the pavers, which would have been on top of the pavers installed last year. Owner Joe G. did not return distress calls nor speak with me the day (4 days after delivery) the project started. This outfit needs to improve basic customer communications. I deducted cost of replacement ground cover plants from final payment.

I met initially with Joe to go over the various items needing attention and was very impressed by his professionalism. I have nothing but praise for the work done repairing the brick planters and repointing the brick on my house. The other main component of the work was to power wash and seal an existing stamped concrete patio and walk. This was installed several years previously (not by Gerrior) and the ice melt damage was totally my fault caused by splashback from trying to apply ice melt to ice dams on the roof above. I could have power washed and sealed it myself but thought it was better left to professionals. The price tag was a bit high for washing and applying one coat ($1,362) but it also included patching the damage. I was not expecting the patio to look new but in the end, only one square foot area was patched and it stands out like a sore thumb...does not blend in at all. My other major disappointment has been trying to get an estimate out of Joe for chimney repair and/or repointing which I thought was included in the initial repointing scope (2 men 7 hours). Two of the workers that were here indicated that they would remind him that I needed the estimate (one even took pictures). I also spoke to two different people in the office both of whom said that they would follow up. I got a thank you note (nice touch) but never got follow up on my estimate request. Its been well over a month at this point without an estimate. I am guessing they are busy and overextended and that small jobs sometimes get lost in the shuffle. If you are too busy to take on more work, just say so. Despite these specific complaints, the entire crew was neat and punctual. The brick work that was done was done well and I would use them again for brick work. It is unfortunate that the lack of responsiveness/oversight of the owner brought the ratings down.

Gerrior Masonry worked around our schedule for a consultation appointment. The company owner was very thorough in his analysis and assessment of the work that needed to be done, and gave preliminary advice on what type of materials would look best with our existing masonry work. We received a very comprehensive estimate that detailed the materials and the work involved with each step so we had an understanding of the cost breakdown. There were also different choices included in the estimate so we had options for certain aspects of the work. Once the work started, everything was done with a high level of detail and worksmanship, and best of all - on time and right on budget. The work area was spotless when they left, and the work was absolutely beautiful. We have additional work we need to do in the future, and we absolutely plan on hiring Gerrior Masonry again.

Joe Gerrior and his team of wizards did my masonry & landscape construction project in the spring 2014. These photos were taken a year later in the spring 2015. Gerrior?s work was all on the left side of the white line in Image A. Before the project there was a 4? tall rip rap wall separating my upper and lower backyards under the white line. It was quite a drop! For example, the PVC deck stairs had 8 risers and now there?s only 4. Also, it was completely open under the deck which was supported by the wood posts seen in Image B. My backyard wasn?t very functional and looked like crap! He recommended a carpenter who helped chop the PVC deck stairs. As General Contractor, I coordinated between Gerrior and the carpenter. After Gerrior finished I seeded, edged, mulched, and did the latticework (I know, it looks amazing!). Plants coming soon. Image A Image A shows the last thing Gerrior installed: the BBQ pavers (sealed with polymeric sand) which perfectly meet the chopped PVC deck stairs, the new masonry stairs, the mulch bed, & the old backyard on the right side of the white line. The fill brought in under the pavers was 4? - 8? deep (!) so they watered like crazy for proper compaction. A year later and no sinking pavers. Also, I assembled but they installed two electrical conduits: one next to the house, the other pops out in the mulch bed. For drainage, they sloped the pavers away from the house and deck with the water carried away by a nearly invisible lawn drain. Image B The first thing Gerrior and his old-school masons installed was steel reinforced concrete footers 4? under the steel reinforced 10? concrete block retaining walls in Image B. This keeps my backyard out of my shed! And it was tricky but they didn?t touch my deck through all the excavation and construction! On the right are the old posts still supporting my deck. Also on the right, they delivered on the unusual sloped wall I wanted. Atop all walls, they installed anchor bolts for me to secure the sill plates supporting my latticework. On the left in back, the wall dog-legs to avoid the house?s vinyl siding. This wall is pinned to the house?s foundation. Finally, there?s the reinforced concrete floor which slopes into the floor drain. As an upgrade from the originally estimated gravel floor, Joe and I agreed on-the-fly on a price. Now, as you can plainly see, I have the best shed in the universe! Image C Next, Gerrior and his masonry special forces did these great looking stairs! A reinforced concrete slab supports the stairs. The slab is pinned to the shed?s concrete block wall on one side and supported by two 4? deep Sonotubes on the mulch side. Atop the slab is rubble enclosed by 10? concrete block walls. Yeah, it?s solid. The attractive stone starts about a foot below ground level ?just to be safe?. Finally, the Brownstone treads with stone risers cap everything. Get this?as they were excavating for the shed?s retaining walls, they found and set aside some pink stones to use as stair risers to match the pink ledge in the background in Image C! It?s this kind of detail that impresses. Oh, and they applied a colored parge coating to the exteriors of my shed walls to take away the ugly of concrete block. That was nice! Image D They also built a tapered rip rap retaining wall (not so pretty but I?m not looking at it) on the edge of my property and brought in fill to create a planting area and grass ramp between the backyard and driveway. Gerrior and I realized a mound of fill was needed to hold in the BBQ pavers thus the planting area was born. It all worked out. My wife has big plans for the planting area whereas my lawnmower and I really appreciate the ramp.
Description of Work: Gerrior and his skilled team extended my backyard, gave me a small paved BBQ area, an awesome storage space under my deck, great looking stone stairs, a sizable area for planting, a grass ramp, AND tied everything together seamlessly. Fantastic job at a reasonable price!

The owner came out and gave advice on things that could be done in place of expensive cement in a crawl space and told us to remove a ramp that was causing a drainage problem and wasn't built right anyhow. He then looked at the work to be done and sent us an estimate the next day. We did all the additional advised work. The overall experience was excellent. They called to tell me they were coming on a specific date even before I had mailed the final contract back and they were here. They came out, determined what staging they needed and came back and did the chimney very efficiently. The foundation walls had the mortar removed in replaced by two hardworking men. The whole basement was a lot cleaner when they left then when they came in. No more dust. They dug down and did the outside of the walls. There was one spot that seemed to be in agreement that was missed due to location. I called and they immediately came out and took care of it. They were very polite and hardworking.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced mortar on 2 side foundation walls, sealed with a layer of cement, inside and outside. Mortar was crumbling and there was seepage in the basement. Replaced chimney.

The work is immaculate. However, we were disappointed with the inaccuracy of the price quote, which came out much higher than expected because the business owner and quot;forgotand quot; to quote a section of the wall. This job started several weeks later than planned, even though we had sent in a significant deposit to get on the schedule. The staff worked long days in the hot sun, and their work was very meticulous. However, they left our yard a mess and didn't clean up after themselves after completing the job. Despite the beauty of the finished product, we would be hesitant to hire this company again. We felt there was some level of deceit with the inaccurate price quote - especially since we had been in touch with the contractor to reduce the size of the wall to try to stay within the budget.

First, what a great job! Silva and Joe were fantastic to work with - every step of the way. Joe helped us refine our design, made relevant and specific changes to help us stay on budget while delivering the desired result. Once we had things spec'd out, Silva let us know when work would begin and kept us up to date as weather interfered with the plans. the guys on the team were very diligent and focused in their work. They persevered through some pretty hot days!! timing and cost were as they predicted our steps, walkway and wall look Mahvelous!!

We couldn't be happier - Full back yard reno with 100+ sq. ft. of retaining walls, lots of yard leveling, a patio and more. The extensive yard leveling and retaining walls Gerrior Masonry built maximized our usable space. The craftsmanship and design work made it beautiful. Beautiful Work - Field stone retaining walls, recessed granite steps, a paver patio, a field stone fire pit and blue stone walkway are all beautiful and solid. Neighbors are amazed at the work, and the speed. Design - Joe designed the walls to match our foundation (including dyed mortar) so they look original. The rest of the design was worked out with Joe in advance and refined with his advice after start. Joe has an eye for design and really knows Masonry and Landscaping so we were glad to have his expertise (including a soil science degree) and experience. Team - Joe's team was on time, pleasant, as quiet as stone work can be and left a clean job site every day. Our neighbors were remarked about the neatness at the work site and in the street. Changes - Design changes small and big were accommodated without problem. Joe and his team of masons and landscapers took pride and pleasure in doing quality work. We would be glad to work with Gerrior Masonry again.

Joe came out a couple of weeks before the job started to give me an estimate for the work. He is very personable and knowledgeable with all aspects of hardscaping. Joe gave a detailed explanation of exactly what he was going to do and how long the job would take. The estimate was fair and was in the middle of the other estimates I received. The work started off very smoothly with the area being dug out and the gravel spread out over the area. What impressed me was that Joe did the excavation himself. He told me that he always does the excavation for all of his jobs. In a couple of days, the pavers and granite step were installed. They did an excellent job with the installation. The next day, they cleaned up all the debris, replanted the plants they had to move, re-installed the panel of the fence they had to move to gain access and spread grass seed over the area where they disturbed with their equipment. The patio looks wonderful and would definitely use Joe again for any of my future hardscaping and/or landscaping needs.

Our house is 117 years old and they were careful to replicate the worm joints in the foundation. Although there were some problems with the color of the mortar used, unfortunately you cannot accurately predict color ahead of time, Joe researched options to correct the issue and immediately made the changes. The work was beautifully done, on time and they cleaned up any debris that was left from the repairs. They stand behind their work and I would definitely use them again.

The entire job was fantastic. This is the second timing hiring them. (The first was to tear down and rebuild a curved retaining wall and install a set of brand new stairs.) They are extremely professional, very knowledgeable, flexible and most of all, trustworthy. I hired a lot of contractors leading up them for various other projects, and in a lot of cases I got what I paid for... most of the time, what I paid for was not so good... I joked with Gerrior that I wish they could have done all of the projects on my house because with them, I got what I paid for, and it was excellence. I tell all of my friends to hire them...and you should too.
Description of Work: There were 2 sets of stairs. Front Stairs: Removed Rails, Demo six 5 1/2' stairs, two piers and a 5 1/2' x 4' platform, dug out for new concrete footing to support new stairs, install six 6 1/2' corinthian granite stone stairs and a 6 1/2' x 4' platform. Capped all stair treads and returns on platform in limestone. Side Stairs: Chip off deteriorated concrete areas. Cap six 4 1/2' stairs and returns on platform in limestone. Apply bonding agent and two coats of stucco on risers and side of stairs.

The job was fantastic. They had to tear apart my yard, take down a section of a fence in order to get the tools in for the job. I was a bit nervous to see all of the mayhem in the yard, but it was the means to an end. They walked me through what was happening, and calmed any fears I had. When the job was finished, I was left with a glorious yard, beautiful stone retaining wall and gorgeous stone steps to another level of my yard... It turned out 10x better than I had ever imagined. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to hire them again. Quality work, A+ communication, timely proposal and job starts, deep knowledge in both design and implementation, friendly, trustworthy, and affordable.

Every estimate they give is a professional looking estimate. They have everything mentioned in the quote more than everybody we have dealt with so far. The person came at the time he said he would come. He was very professional. I will use them in the future as well. He was willing to go the extra mile. He was willing to bring samples along and try different things. He gave us opinions and was willing to drive us around to the houses he has done work in. He was a level more than what we expected.
Description of Work: We got two quotes from Garrior Masonry & Landscape Construction Corporation. There were two phases. They first gave a quote during last fall, but then we could not make up our mind. We reestablished our connection with them this spring and they emailed us a quote. My last interaction with them was a week or two ago.
