I had a pretty good experience with Jim. He's a very nice guy, old school roofer who's been in the business for years. He wasn't the cheapest guy we talked to but he definitely seemed to be the most knowledgeable and willing to talk us through why he was suggesting the exact things and justifying the prices he was quoting. Scheduling was a little haphazard, some of which was weather but some of which was just general contractor lack of communication. He's great in person and on the phone, but a bit more base-touching would have been useful in the days leading up to the job. We didn't know when the pallet of shingles would be dropped off, and so we had to do some parking dances to keep an area open for a longer period of days than necessary. Once they started the job his guys were very friendly and professional, they did an adequate job of cleaning up after themselves, and the roof looks great. Getting our parking permits and spare key back took longer than necessary, but apparently he'd come down with pneumonia (which he didn't communicate until later) so I won't ding him for that. All in all a solid B from me, and I wouldn't hesitate to use Jim again for a roofing job or recommend him to friends, with a bit of a warning to be proactive in communication and demanding re: scheduling.

Jim Doucet is a rip-off and a sleeze bag. Contacted him about having snow removed from the roof. He was very interested in the business and said he could probably do it the next day. He later called that night and quoted us an astronomical range of prices - from $1200 to $2000 dollars to remove snow from an expanded Cape & to remove ice dams. We had no leaks & we were taking care of the ice dams ourselves. He would not listen to us & kept insisting we had to let him take care of the ice dams. When he finally realized we were not going to give into the ice dams he said he would come the next day & give us a quote & possibly do the job. He said he would call when he was on the way. Well, he never caleed, he never showed up & now it's 2 days later & we still have not heard from us. It appears he thought he had some desperate homeowners to rip off & charge us some ridiculous price. In fact, the price he was going to charge was a quarter of what we had paid 2 years ago to put a brand new roof on the house. Beware of this guy & company. It looks like he is a leach & will rip you off in a heart beat.
