Black Lab Alarm

Poorly, I finally had to cancel the account because of lack of responsiveness and just a poor experience for years. At one point my system was unknowingly "off line" for almost a year because I switched to Comcast cable phone service provider. We had only found out when we had a false alarm and no one showed up - if that did not happen we would have never known (and Black Lab does not check). We wanted to go to internet and they struggled because they do not used advanced technology. I finally just cancelled because the system has been down for months and they did not show up for the appt. I contacted the owner and still nothing. We use online cameras which are awesome and a huge upgrade in usefulness. If I needed monitoring, I would definitely use SimpliSafe - at least their technolgy is current.

The system works, but it was an expensive, laborious process, with constant call backs to resolve issues that should have been solved first time around. Quality of work was generally good, but see below. Every time there was a call back, we'd receive an invoice and then have to explain that it shouldn't be at our cost. As an example, they'd make modifications to the door entry programming and then accidentally reset the timing on the release catch - so that, after you'd entered the front door, the lock wouldn't reengage for 30 seconds. Simply checking their work / testing / QC would have saved a callout and a bunch of hassle for everyone. We will continue to use them, because switching to a new provider for a custom system could likely compound the issues and they aren't THAT bad. Which is not a glowing recommendation. We've also had to replace a circuit board - at our cost - I guess not their fault - but frustrating for a system relatively recently installed. So, not awful, but far from delighted. Back office / invoicing seems somewhat chaotic too, in terms of responsiveness, invoicing etc.

Todd Broyard's team did a great job on installation and training, and have been quite responsive during the start-up of the system. They dealt with a defective master control unit immediately and the system has been performing well. I highly recommend Todd and his team.

I pay a yearly fee for Mogel to monitor the alarm system in my home. It is a fair price, although I do not wish to say what I pay. I will say they have greatly pleased me. There are not improvements that they could really make that come to my mind. Overall, they have made me quite satisfied and Mike is great to work with.

Excellent. Mike called to let me know he was stuck in traffic, apologizing profusely. He was efficient and reviewed all the work and the process with me. Mike was very polite and mild mannered. When we had a minor problem, he took a phone call at about 7:30 at night and came out at 8:00 am to fix it for no extra charge since it was his error. Pricing was reasonable.
