I had originally tried going with a company called Smith & Noble because I had received a coupon, but their process was super convoluted and involved sub-contractors and multiple initial appointments which were annoying for me as it's hard to get home during the work day. I finally gave up on the whole process after they failed to mail me samples, and the "interior designer" couldn't get on the same page with the subcontracted installer. Forget it. I chose Back Bay as I saw consistently positive reviews about their service, and I just wanted a no-nonsense professional who would help me get this task off my things-to-do list. I can't really speak to their pricing since I never got any pricing from their competitors, but I will say that Back Bay worked with me to tweak the original specs of my order to bring them closer to my price point without compromising the quality/aesthetic of my windows. Bill met me at my house for the first consultation. He measured the windows, and went through my options for shutters. He was super knowledgeable and professional, and I was glad to have him as a sounding board to come up with the best design for my shutters; there are loads of options that could've been overwhelming, but Bill's suggestions helped me through the process immensely. They also sent me temporary shades for the windows while we awaited completion of our shutters, and Bill even came out a second time to match the color of the shutters to the window frames. TIP: If you don't know the color of your window frames like me (we only bought the home several months ago), make sure to mention it to Back Bay so this can be resolved during the first consultation. The installation itself was professional and clean. For the two windows, it took about 2 hours. We were THRILLED with the results. It's amazing what a difference window treatments can make to a room. We plan on calling Back Bay to do our living room bay windows once we get further down our things-to-do list :)

They claimed to be and quot;neurotic perfectionistsand quot; in a flyer that came with the mail. It was an interesting pitch, so I got an estimate to make interior shutters for my house. Without a doubt, they lived up to their claim. In addition, they were consistently punctual, professional, and very pleasant to deal with. During the preparation process, they freely made house calls whenever I had questions or needed to ponder about matching paint color or shutter styles that would be appropriate for the architecture of the house. Every one of the employees I dealt with, from estimate to installation, shares the same immense attention to detail, and this quality shows in their work. I would gladly recommend them.

I contacted Back Bay Shutter in late 2011 and Steve promptly responded and scheduled a site visit. During the visit, Steve explained everything, including material and style options, leadtime, and installation. After the visit, Steve emailed me a detailed proposal, followed by a contract. Once I signed the contract, he scheduled my job. During the several months leadtime to the job start-date, Steve was helpful and patient (I changed my mind about paint color three times). On the day of the install, Steve's workcrew of two arrived on-time, prepared the site with drop clothes and worked all day without a break to complete the installation that day. They were considerate and painstaking to get each pair of shutters installed as perfectly as possible. Afterwards, they swept up and left everything tidy. The total experience was very positive from beginning to end.
