JP O'Brien Electric LLP

I was impressed by his detective work. These were small but lingering problems that had been around for a while; he was very efficient in diagnosing the problems, tracing lines, and properly connecting the circuit that another electrician had messed up. A lot of electricians can't be bothered with minor work like this; that it was covered under my contract and cost nothing extra was a bonus.

Great. He was available within a few hours and performed the work promptly and thoroughly.

He was terrific. He was on time. He answered all my questions and went out of his way to provide great service. I worked directly with Joseph O'Brian.

I contacted JP O'Brien via e-mail in October 2015 to get an estimate on a small electrical job in our home. It took 4 days for Joseph to respond to my note but he did and we scheduled a time for about 5 days later for him to come out and take a look. He did come to take a look quickly and told us he would get back in touch with an estimate. We never heard back from him again. I followed up with a note with no response. It would have been fine if he could have sent a quick note to let us know he would not be able to do the job. I assumed our job was too small. From a customer service standpoint,all it would have taken was an honest and brief response. Very unfortunate as the reviews for this vendor were really high and this is why I had chosen them.

We have a 150+ year-old house badly in need of an electrical upgrade. Joseph was very professional and easy to work with. We had to postpone the work because of other work we were getting done but we were able to get a date that was acceptable to each of us. For the most part, he and his men worked quickly and efficiently. There were some mishaps along the way, including some fixtures that were not rewired and one of his guys putting his foot through the second floor ceiling. But Joseph resolved all issues free of charge and without haggling. He paid to have the ceiling properly repaired. We are happy with his work and would use him again.

Although we didn't end up using JP O'Brien because of their higher cost, they were extremely responsive and prompt when contacted to provide a quote. They came out the same day to look at the property, and I had a quote later that night. I'd definitely contact them again for future work because of their professionalism and responsiveness.

It was okay. It was awhile ago. I think he was prompt in his response but he did a kind of incomplete assessment, he didn't go to all the areas of my house but it was adequate. They did come out soon after the purchase date. I tried to contact them to actually do service on some of the things that they had pointed out that needed to be done and I actually had a poor response during that call so during the Angie's List purchase about doing the electrical assessment they were prompt but when I went to actually have the services done they weren't. It was sometime in March or April so I probably booked them in April. There were no additional charges. It was the follow up and the fact that they didn't do, it wasn't attached to the house but another component it had an electrical portion that I wanted them to assess. They gave me a print out of their assessment. It's hard to know because their the experts doing the evaluation. There were some things that were found later on that I did call them back about trying to fix but again they did have a poor response so maybe a B for quality. I would give them a B for professionalism because of the poor response and would not use them again because of it.

Eventually it was fine. I had to call several times. I had to call them at least twice or three times to finally get it. It took a few weeks. It wasn't ideal but eventually I got what I needed. They did it just for the price of the "Big Deal." Because I had so much trouble just getting an estimate from them, I decided not to use them for the actual work. They did show up. I would possibly use them in the future. They seemed to know what they're talking about.

Dave and Steve were awesome. Very professional, punctual and did quality workmanship. We are having them come back to do more work for us. Highly recommend them.

Arrived on time and performed installation without any issue. Price as quoted.

Joe was very easy to work with and fit me with an appointment quickly. He was very knowledgeable and did a thorough inspection of my breaker box, tested GFI outlets, went up to the attic to view wiring there, inspected main panel at the service entry, etc. I plan on addressing the issues we found and will use JP Obrien Electric again in the future if needed.

I cannot say enough positive things about working with JP O'Brien electric. Joesph came out to provide us with an estimate the morning after Christmas and took the time to inspect our electric panel and test every outlet in our house to get a rough idea of how much knob and tube wiring our house had (none of the other electricians we had contacted did this). He quickly provided us with an itemized estimate which we thoroughly appreciated. The work was completed on time and Joesph was great about keeping us informed on the progress of the work, let us know about any challenges or problems that arose (additional knob and tube wiring was found in light fixtures and switches that couldn't be detected without removing them and visually inspecting), and was incredibly flexible whenever we had any additional requests. I felt like we received very high quality work at a very reasonable price and would highly recommend JP O'Brien to anyone in need of an electrician.

They were prompt, professional, affordable and fast. They stuck with their estimate price. We would definitely use them again!

Joe (I believe that was his first name) arrived on time to diagnose a problem with my front porch lights. The lights would come on for a second and trip the breaker and go off. Unfortunately discovered the problem on Halloween night. No kids would come to the house as the light was off, etc. But Joe figured out the problem pretty quickly. After opening the inside access panel, he discovered some squirrel bitten wires. There were 3 bare wires as the animals had dined on the insulation and found it quite tasty. The problem was fixed pronto and we were fully functional in no time. I still have the Halloween candy ready in case the kids want to redeem their rain checks. But seriously, Joe did a great job, was on time, price was reasonable, was professional and answered all my questions. He also did a quick sanity check on my other exterior lights as well. I would definitely call him for any future electrical needs.

We had sudden damage to the house. Dave and Steve: * Promptly assessed the work, and laid out my options. * Worked with my insurance adjuster to provide the justification that the insurance company needed for the work. * Performed the work in a predictable, high quality fashion. * Showed up on short notice when other contractors messed up their wiring -- once my GC accidentally cut a new wire with a sawzall, once the tiling people were about to tile over the light outlet, and had not told me they needed the electrician to show up that day! Throughout, Dave and Steve were easy to work with, and very respectful and clean in my house (they were at our house for weeks). In this repair work, I worked with tradesmen from 7 different trades. Dave and Steve were my best tradesmen.

That was fine. It was right away. I would say he was on time, wasn't late and was polite. I will not use them again only because there is just so many more to chose from.

We first called Joe when we had something go wrong with the washer/dryer connections. Joe came in the next day and quickly fixed the problem. Since he was already onsite and had some time available, he agreed to fix a circuit that wasn't working. He worked on it as much as the schedule allowed, then came back a few days later and got it fixed. While he was here, he gave us quotes on installing recessed lighting in the living/dining/kitchen areas + installing backyard lighting. He arrived with his team on time and got the job done, even cleaned the work areas before leaving. Fixtures used were top-notch (LED and all). Joe and his team were always on time; gave me options, recommendations and pricing. Work performed was consistently high quality - very professional. Highly recommended: A+

It has been an ongoing project (over one year) in an 1850's home. Always reliable and professional, Dave came out when needed and completed the electrical part of the project in a timely manner. Joe came this morning with the electrical inspector. No problems. Thanks, guys.

It was clear that the provider knew their business. They were good at explaining why/what needed to be done. I received a fair/reasonable estimate for the work to be done. Unfortunately, I was unable to follow through and have the work done at that time.

I originally hired JP O'Brien to do an electric inspection after purchasing our new home. After going through the inspection with Joe, I knew we had found our electrician. I knew from the home inspection we had a few issues here and there (which he found) but ultimately, I wanted to find a good electrician to make our home safer for our new family. We had a lot of BX wiring (electrical cloth wrapped wire inside a metal tube) and it just wasn't safe for some of the lighting fixtures we wanted to install. The worked performed by JP O'Brien was great. Very minimal damage to our horse hair plaster walls and ceiling. They cut holes only when needed and kept dust minimal. Joe walked me through what he was going to do before he started the work and marked every new outlet on the walls. They took their time and actually were thoughtful in the work they performed. I couldn't be more satisfied with the work. We will be hiring them again.

I made the appointment about 10 days prior. They arrived on the date and during the morning, as scheduled. Very professional and pleasant, worked quickly and efficiently. Were in and out in about 15 or 20 minutes. It was a simple job, but one I could not do myself. They cleaned up white powder drywall dust and debris on the floor as a result of removing the plug and switch. They did a great job, and I would hire this company again. The $100 charge takes into account their $50 coupon on Angie's List. The total job, therefore, would have cost $150.00. I think the job is definitely worth paying $100 but not $150. Because I had the $50 coupon, I was pleased with the resulting $100 charge to perform the work.

After purchasing our new home we began to get outrageously high electric bills, way higher than expected. We called JP O'Brien Electric to come to the house to help us determine what appliance or circuit was drawing all the energy. Joseph spent a couple of hours with me trying to determine what was going on, and while things are still somewhat of a mystery to us (unfortunately we landed on old, inefficient A/Cs) we could not have been more pleased with Joseph's patience, explanations, knowledge, and help getting our problems identified. Also, while he was working he noticed some double-tapped circuits, which he fixed on the spot for me without hesitation. I wish more people would use Angie's List just so they could find this company. Our friends and family have already heard about our great experience with JP O'Brien and their contact info has already been shared. If you are reading this and need an electrician, stop reading and call this company!!! Whether they like it or not, JP O'Brien Electric will be our go-to electrician for any electrical problems, upgrades, etc. we may face in the future! And in fact, we already have them scheduled to come back out again soon.
