JP O'Brien Electric LLP

After obtaining a few quotes from different electricians, we decided to hire Joe for our knob & tube replacement in our house. He was very thorough, inspecting and pointing out where all of the knob & tubing was and the approach he was going to take. We basically had knob & tube everywhere (vs. originally thought only in the attic and basement), and he was able to replace it all with overall minimal damage to the walls, etc. Joe was also very helpful and installed some new outlets and hung a few new light fixtures for no extra charge. It took them (Joe and an associate completed the job) a week to complete. They showed up every day on time around 7:45am and worked the day until at least 4:30 (sometimes even later until 6pm). Joe told us that we needed to replace an overloaded sub-panel and that eventually we would have to replace our main electric panel as it was close to max capacity. My husband and I decided to just do it all so we would not have to worry about anything or having to reschedule in the future. The sub-panel was installed within the original week of work, and a couple of weeks later Joe came back to install the main panel, which took a full day (8-6) of work. He handled getting the permit with the city as well as scheduling the inspection with the city. Overall, they did a great job and we were very pleased with the quality of work.

Joe and his associate were on-time, knowledgeable, friendly, efficient and clean. Took care of all the requests I had and answered all of my questions before and during the time they worked. I would definitely recommend JP O'Brien Electric.

00Starting in the basement with the fuse boxes Joe checked all outlets, breaker panels and gave me info about several items that could be brought up to code or were a problem including a few incorrect installations. He explained and reexplained things to me and made a list of the things we discussed. Two days later I had an itemized estimate for the costs for suggested work. I decided to have his firm do the work which he and his colleague completed 11/04. I am happy with everything was done and how both men worked together; a really pleasant experience. I added a few more tasks which increased the cost, naturally.

Joe did a great job. He was very thorough, professional, and very courteous. I'm very glad to know that there's an electrician in my area (turns out he lives nearby) that I contact if needed. I'd absolutely recommend him.

They were here for a few hours trying to figure out the wiring which was all messed up. I was very grateful for that. However, as soon as they left, bathroom exh fan was not working again. Called them to come back, and they were very busy. Eventually never followed through and I hired another electrician

The company cant get to me until the end of the month and I needed someone sooner.

We feel that he was professional and informative. As far as what we got for our money, it's difficult to say because we have nothing to compare it to which is why we gave a B for price.

Price too high, not a good deal for follow up work

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that we purchased. He came and did his job. It was kind of neutral. There were no additional charges. He came on time and did what he was supposed to do. My husband showed him around. It was definitely satisfactory. He was very friendly, professional and polite. It was nothing outstanding. We've had somebody else that did work for us so we would go back to them.

I called them to set up an appointment but unfortunately I was outside of their service area. They responded professionally and in a very timely manner.

Arrived on time. Professional. Did the job.

Purchased $99 home electrical inspection from JP O'Brien Electrical. Been two weeks, no response. Would like a refund. Bad experience with Angie's list.

He arrived at scheduled time. Completed all tasks in a timely manner. Could have been better about cleaning up. But, the work was excellent. We are very pleased with the result and plan to call him soon to schedule more items.

Absolutely perfect. Best contractor I've ever had. Really knew his stuff, helped me plan it out, very clean, cooperative...and even found a way to run wires to reduce his work so he saved me a bit of money too. Very easy to work with.

JP Electric was on time, efficient, professional and did solid work. Quickly done, no hassles. Very minor complaint is that they could have finished cleaning up the area. It wasn't a big mess and easy enough for me to take care of but the little details a go a long way sometimes. I would absolutely recommend this electrician to anyone.

Everything went smoothly. In their estimate they were also to install 15 amp circuit to second floor and install two outlets where needed and install arc fault breaker per code requirement. Since the rest of the work took a whole day this last part was not done (or charged) it was left that it was my responsibility to call and make another appointment for this part. I haven't called them back yet.

I can't say enough about these 2 guys who came to my home. From the start they were immediately responsive to my first phone call and came out the next day, which was Saturday. I consider myself fortunate, as most companies only work Mon-Fri. They arrived promptly and got to work immediately. My cable TV wasn't working and the cable company suggested the problem was electrical and that I should hire an electrician. The two men replaced all of the old cable wire, which involved running up and down 3 flights of stairs. They were respectful of the other tenants (this is a 4 family residence) and accomplished their job without being intrusive. The job was accomplished with professionalism and courtesy.

J.P. O'Brien's two person team were responsive, punctual, professional and thorough. At the end of their inspection, they went through a list of items they recommended we update or replace. Fortunately, they found no serious electrical issues. We have several items on their list that we are planning to do and we will be calling them to perform the service. We were very happy with their inspection.

Joe and partner came in checked out first level of house and basement and gave me advice. He let me know that all the work I was anticipating, but didn't want to do, wasn't necessary immediately under the circumstances. He checked wiring and I feel confident contacting him based on his recommendation.

They were very professional, quick and clean. Of course, I don't know if the whole-house surge protector will work as advertised, since the house hasn't yet been struck by lightning or suffered other serious sudden power surges (knock on wood). I have faith that it will, as online (and This Old House) reviews of these devices are highly favorable. I liked OBrien so much that I had them install a couple of additional wall outlets in my basement while they were there, for a very reasonable additional fee. I would certainly use them again in the future.

They were great - so nice an accommodating. I forgot to give them my Angie's List coupon and I called a few hours after they left to see if they would honor it. Dave was so kind - he asked if I would prefer they return the difference to me or if I'd like to write out a new check. I said I'd like to write out a new check and his partner actually drove back to my house on his way home that day to pick it up. I was very impressed. As for the work itself, my husband said it looked good :-) They gave us a 30 minute window that they'd arrive and they arrived at the start of it - also very impressive.

Very professional and friendly. Told us about old wiring and gave us options. Did not pressure us to do more than we wanted to with the wiring.

Everything was great. They were prompt, gave clear explanations of the work they were doing, and did the work without any problems.

It went better than expected. He ran into a couple of issues and fixed them without charging extra. Problem is I can't use him again because of the distance between his office and my home.

Everything was done as planned. They showed up as scheduled and completed the job as expected. The fixtures look really good.
