Walter was very responsive, returning my call immediately and arranging to meet for a quote over the coming weekend when it was best for us. I found him very personable and easy to work with.. He explained the work in detail, making recommendations in some of the areas we had concern about and was able to provide a quote on site. We decided to move forward and he scheduled us in within the next two weeks, arriving at the agreed time and cleaned the site thoroughly after the job was complete. He even did some additional work I requested the day prior at no additional cost. Overall a great experience and would definitely use him again.

Our neighbor hired Collings for tree trimming. They left us their card. We got a quote right away - very reasonable. Walked the property. They showed up on time to do the work. Professional and really nice. They made our birches look great and added a little mulch to spiff it up. Very kind - we were getting smothered with overgrown hedges - hard to get in the door etc. Someone wasn't coming out until June to do trimming so they cut away some for us just knowing it was hard to get through them. Really nice and great service!

Walt was very responsive. I sent him an email for a quote and he came to our house the next day. Without asking he provided a referral and insurance information. He arrived at our house on the date and time he said he would the day of tree removal. He and his crew did a fantastic job and would hire them again.

Arrived at 7:30am, set up equipment and began job at 8:15am. Cleaned the area thoroughly when job was completed. Finished around 11:15am. Very professional... would highly recommend.

Had a dead tree fall on the back of my house, during a wind storm, last Saturday. I called Collings Tree Service after checking Angies List, yesterday, for an estimate. Mr Collings arrived within 15 min. of estimated arrival time for both the estimate, which I found very reasonable, and the tree removal today. The crew, 2 men, and Mr Collings were very good and while on the roof cutting the tree they cleaned up the roof of all debris from the tree and other accumilated debris on that part of the roof. I was very impressed with the work. I had Mr Collings give me estimates for future tree work.

The big pine, rotted at the base, toppled over on Saturday during heavywinds. I googled tree services within a 10 mile radius of my home town and came up with 10 companies. I then checked them out on Angie's List. Collings Company had a most impressive rating.I called the same day, and Walter returned my call the very next day and came over to look at the damage (on Sunday). He walked the property and gave me a QUOTE (not an estimate) for the job. I called him back on Tuesday to confirm the job, and he said he and his crew would be there the next day at 7:00AM. True to his word, he arrived right on time and he and his 4 helpers started the job. They first removed a make-shift fence surrounding the work area. The fallen pine tree was precariously positioned at a 45 degree angle and lodged within the branches of an adjacent smaller tree (also dead). Walter climbed up into the branches of another tree and skillfully used the chain saw to cut the larger pine tree free, thus toppling it to the ground. He also removed the other dead pine tree .Once the trees were felled, he and a crew member worked at cutting them into smaller sections. All of these sections along with many, many large branches had to then be carried from the work site all across the yard to the chipper parked in the driveway. He and his crew worked non-stop. The clean up was incredible. They not only removed the downed trees, but also all of the old branches and limbs that had been there from previous storms. They replaced the fencing and blew the driveway clear of ALL wood chips. My back yard area has never looked so good!! I now understand why Collings Company had such a good rating on AL. I would recommend them to everyone.

The service was superb. All work was done in a very professional manner. One of the largest limbs (over 7" in diamter and 30 feet in length) was intertwined with electrical wires. Walter and his crew extricated the limb without damaging a single wire. Also, the cleanup effort was especially noteworthy. At the end of the job my yard was cleaner than before the Collings crew arrived!

It took several attempts to get a hold of Walter to have estimate of work to be performed. When he finally called me, he offered to come out within a couple of days on a Sunday morning which I thought was great. He gave me quote on the spot which look reasonable. I called him a few days later to confirm to have work done. He came out within a week to take down the trees. He came when promised and was in and out in no time with his crew. Overall, Walter and his crew did a great job removing trees and the branches and twigs from the lawn. The only thing I would have them do better is remove more of the wood chips on the lawn. I don't expect them to get them all but there was more than I would have expected.

After reading the reviews of Collings Company Tree Service here on AL, we had Walter come out and give a quote on some work, along with another reputable local company. When Walter came out, he was very courteous and professional. We were looking at having two trees cutdown (one dead, another split from the hurricane and precariously close to smashing through the garage wall), and we considering having a large pile of random clippings/rubbish mulched while they were out here. Walter gave a very detailed quote for each task (cutdown trees and mulch clippings), outlining what would and would not be done. He was more than willing to answer all our questions, and seemed very reasonable. After reviewing the other quote (which was cheaper), we decided to go with Walter because he had given us a very detailed quote (we felt like it covered the work to be done better than a simple one line description on the other quote), he didn't seem to be pushing unnecessary services on us, and we liked his "can do" attitude.Walter and his crew showed up on time, and "can do" is an understatement! We wanted to keep the mulch to spread around in some beds, so Walter took the time to only chip the quality branches/items, dump the chips in a convenient location, and then proceed to gather all the less desirable trash to take to the dump. He didn't just mulch all the clippings and remove the rubbish, but he cleaned up EVERYTHING from the area. Instead of leaving the trees cut into firewood sized logs randomly scattered around, they stacked them neatly with the rest of our firewood. And he even went around and did a bit of extra trimming of other trees that were touching on the house, just because he was there and it was "the right thing to do". I was honestly shocked by the quality, level of detail, and commitment to service that Walter and his crew showed on this job. We feel like we got our money's worth, and then some. I *will* be recommending Collings Company Tree Service to all my friends and co-workers.

In a sudden microburst a large maple tree beside our driveway split in two, with half the tree falling across our driveway and our neighbors' driveway, blocking all of us in. This happened at about 6:30 pm on Thursday night. Severe storm warnings were still in effect, and were in fact still raging, and with lightning and thunder overhead, rain falling, and the light fading fast, we were delighted that upon calling Collings Co., Walter answered the phone, heard our dilemma, and offered to come right over to take a look and see what he could do for us. Despite the fact that he had just finished a full day of work, had already gotten changed, and was ready to relax for the evening, he came over ready to work, gave us a very reasonable price, and cleared both driveways making them safely passable, working by himself in a storm, and all before it became too dark to work. He returned the next day and cleared away every trace of debris, leaving not a single leaf nor a speck of sawdust. Amazing. My husband, an attorney, has been so enthused and delighted with the quality of work and the tremendous customer service orientation, not to mention the empathy and uncommonly neighborly and caring attitude Walter embodies that he has been passing his name along to anyone who will listen. Walter is a rare example of values that are sometimes hard to find, and deserves the highest praise.

Did excellent job and even took the Christmas tree that had been buried in snow so that city couldn't pick up. Pleasant staff, very efficient, price as estimated.

I called Walter considering to have a tree removed that was near to my house. He was very honest and suggested that the tree was in very good shape and only needed pruning. He gave me a reasonable estimate, and kept in touch with me to let me know when he was coming--even when he was delayed a day or two, he would always call to let me know he was held up at another job. His work was excellent, he even pruned a few other trees in my yard as well as removed two stumps for me ( at no extra charge). He is honest, reasonable, and hard working. Very highly recommend him.

Walter was great and got back to me quickly to both give a quote and to do the work. The trees that he trimmed were both touching the roof of my house and on another some loose branches were stuck in power wires. Both trees look better than the did before the wee pruned. I plan on calling Walter in the future.

Walter returned my telephone call promptly and we made an appointment. He reviewed and made a detailed note of the trees/branches that were hanging over our house. He made informative suggestions and he gave me a bid not an estimate of the cost. His knowledge and love of trees plus the reasonable cost convinced me to hire him. Walter and his crew were terrific. They did everything agreed to and more! They checked a swing for the children and noted that the rope was very worn. So they removed it. They left "no trace" of their clippings, chipping and stacked wood. He will be returning to properly install a swing from a very high branch. We highly recommend him - he is thoughtful, works hard and does a great job!

Walter was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. He came the day we called to provide an estimate (on time). His estimate came in lower than other estimates and he was willing to take the job even though the tree that needed to be removed was in an area that was very difficult to access and all had to be done by hand. He moved up the scheduled day for removal so that the tree would be taken care of prior to our daughter's birthday party. Then, he and his crew were on time (actually waiting outside at 7:30 in the morning), as promised. He went above and beyond in the work that he did, he even made us a little, rustic table using part of our fallen tree. He was to the point, kind, hard working ...wish all experiences could be this great. We HIGHLY recommend this company!

Received three estimates. Walter's was the best price for the scope of the job. Despite the heat and humidity, Walter and his very professional crew arrived promptly and expertly took care of not only the original job specs. agreed to, but went above and beyond. His expertise, professionalism and customer service skills managed to satisfy our family and the abutting neighbors as well. Not an easy feat.

Mr. Collings is simply the best. He is prompt, considerate and completely professional. His crew is well-trained and rightfully are proud of doing an excellent job. One of them remarked to me that he was very glad to be able to work with and be trained by Mr. Collings. I am particular about my property and it is also a difficult working situation: a steeply sloping, heavily wooded yard with trees at multiple levels. In this case he and his men had to remove tree-sized branches is sections off the level and - the most difficult part, they had to cut through most of one of my neighbor's trees that had fallen onto the deck, which required cutting it gradually so that it did not roll out of control. That required considerable skill. At the end of the job, the yard, deck and driveway were spotless. The crew had meticulously moved all the deck furniture before starting and then returned it perfectly. It is rare to find such skill and professional work these days. I give Collings the highest commendation.

The entire experience was amazing. Walter Collings came in rainy March and provided a detailed quote. Ground conditions had dried out by mid May to allow work to be started. Walter and a 3 man crew arrived around 7:30AM with a truck-pulled chipper.They set up their saws and equipment on mats and work tables to protect the driveway and ground cover. He talked with my neighbor and asked for permission to access his property for branch and log removal. No heavy equipment was used on either property. All branches,logs and chips were carted out by hand in wheelbarrows and trash barrels. Work spanned 5 days including stump grinding by an experienced subcontractor using a big trailer type grinder and a smaller self propelled unit that drove through a fence gate to the backyard.The work area was meticulously cleaned up at the end of each work day.The crew was friendly and efficient and Walter was absolutely amazing at his job. He climbed almost all 28 trees, cutting branches as he moved to the top, then expertly topped the tree with the aid of his ground crew below. He then proceeded to cut the trunk into smaller pieces as he descended to the ground. He and his crew worked VERY hard! I don't know what keeps them going because they didn't stop for lunch that I could tell.This job turned out to be a bigger job than quoted but Walter honored his quote. He even trimmed some of my neighbor's trees at no cost. He is an expert at his trade and takes pride in his work. He is difficult to contact at times, so be patient. He is worth the wait.

Everything we wanted done was completed. Walter and his crew did a fantastic job! In addition to doing everything we had discussed (above), he cleaned part of our gutters for us free of charge (one of the trees removed was touching the house) and he did some clipping of another weeping cherry tree also free of charge. He was extremely personable. I would highly recommend him!

Obtained 3 quotes from well regarded (thanks Angie's list) tree firms; Collings was the least expensive but also the most straightforward. Walter didn't try and upsell us for other services. He was very specific about exactly what limbs they would remove (using a laser pointer no less!), how they would perform the work, and was also super personable. Walter's the guy climbing the tree, so you know what you're getting - a small family oriented business that focuses on service. Walter and two assitants arrived right on time, were very professional, curtious, and clean. During those times Walter was resetting his climbing rig, his assistants were either chipping limbs or raking up and leaves/small branches - very efficient and hard working group. I liked the fact that they were raking up the small stuff while Walter was in between cuts, less mess and less clean up after the cutting is done. What more would you want?

We recommend Mr. Collings highly. He is a tree climber. We normally have difficulty getting him as he is very busy. Sometimes he doesn?t call you back because he is so busy. You can never be sure when you will get him to do the work for you.

Detailed and well explained quote. Their insurance company was quick to FAX and mail proof of liability and workers comp. insurance. Was notified the day before of exact time of job. Crew arrived on time. Crew moved all backyard furniture clear from work area and returned to original locations afterwards. Complete clean up, and I would say left the yard cleaner than they had found it. Oh, and the trees look great. Overall, excellent service. To get this level of experience and responsibility, at a reasonable price, is enough to restore your faith in mankind. Beware, there are a lot of non-experts in the tree service business.
