Great! Walter came to provide us with an estimate, gave us his recommendations and listened to our questions and concerns. Very pleasant to deal with and provided us with the exact cost for trimming - not an estimate. Nice to not have added costs after the work was to be completed. We were very happy with the tree service, came home to a completely cleaned up yard - maybe even better than when they arrived. I would highly recommend Collings Tree Company and will definitely use them again.

Mr. Walter Collings is a true gem and I am so pleased to have found him on Angie's List. I called for an estimate to have several trees pruned because their proximity to the house was allowing squirrels to easily access my roof and eventually several gained access to my attic. I contracted an animal removal company (also found on Angie's List) to remove the squirrels (there were 3 in total) from my attic and close up the access holes. In order to prevent any additional problems with squirrels, I sought to get the trees trimmed as soon as possible. Collings Company had great reviews from many satisfied customers and being a smaller outfit, sounded perfect. I called and spoke with Walter and the very next day he came out and looked at the trees and gave me a written price for the work to be done and also provided insurance infomation. I called him that evening to accept the proposal and Walter came out the very next day and pruned an enormous White Pine and a completely overgrown Rose of Sharon and even pruned some maples near the pine. The areas where the pruning was done were completely free of any debris. The pruned trees look fantastic and the squirrels have not returned. I did not have the pleasure of meeting Walter in person but I did speak with him on the phone several times and I found him to be very pleasant and engaging. I will definitely call upon Collings Company again for any tree work. I was so pleased with my experience that I recommended Collings Company to a friend at work. She called Walter, accepted his proposal to prune a number of large trees on her property and he completed the work today. She was thrilled with the results! Thanks Walter!

Mr. Collings trimmed our 100-yr-old oak in our small backyard. He did it with a crew of three - he did the tree work himself with no heavy machinery, and his two crew members remained on the ground to guide the branches down, clear them out, and chip them. He did a very thorough and professional job, cleaned up afterwards, and even took away some other logs and a trash can full of acorns we had in the yard, which was very helpful. My only slight reservation was that although he came very promptly to do the estimate, when I called him to accept the bid, he didn't call me back for several days. No other complaints, and I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

I needed to perform this work because the leader and its branches were starting to lean towards my home, and I wouldn't want it to come down during an ice storm. I gave Walter a call on a Thursday and he was able to come to my property on a Saturday morning to come take a look at the work. He provided all the details and he gave a price quote. This is different from an estimate because the price he gave me was the price I was going to pay. If there were any unforseen work that had to be done, Walter would absorb that cost, or as he said "he'll just deal with it". After the visit, he gave me an availability of the following Monday morning, but at that time I didn't decide if I wanted to proceed. I gave him a call on Wednesday before Thanksgiving to let him know he can proceed with the agreed upon work. He was able to come out first thing Friday after Thanksgiving to do the work as agreed upon. He and his partner did an excellent job and did not damage anything. They even pruned a few other branches to enhance the look of the tree for free, as well as picked up some of the branches that I had started to collect from trying to prune a few trees myself. They cleaned up the front lawn which I didn't expect. I highly recommend Walter and Collings Company Tree Service, they do great work and their prices are very fair.

The removal of the vines was not included in the quote and he did it for free because he saw it needed to be done. It was an extraordinarily good experience. This was the first time I had any tree service done. He was very punctual, very polite, friendly, and went above and beyond. He’s fully insured. He committed to the price before he began the work. He said that if something comes up that he didn’t foresee, he’ll just deal with it. He quoted me the price and that’s it, which was really nice. I appreciated that a lot.The price was way lower than I had expected to pay for the amount of work that was done.

I've been using Walter for all my tree work since I found him more than a decade ago on Angie's List and it's always been a positive experience. Walter always shows up when he says he will, either for the quote or for the work. His prices are very competitive and his work is excellent. On this occasion, he cut down and removed a large birch tree which had died, and pruned several other good-sized trees, including a large stately maple. He also took down some smaller nuisance trees in the woods around my property. Walter is a real tree expert, who can look at a tree and recognize what needs to be done to it, which has sometimes resulted in being able to save a tree which I thought was beyond help. He always does a thorough job, and also often will perform additional services free of charge if he sees something which needs to be done. I can give Walter my highest recommendation.

I have worked with several tree services, and they are very in demand and can be very expensive. Walter is my favorite. He responded right away to my request for an estimate, and gave me a "quote" that was a guaranteed price for the work. He did the work in the time frame that I requested. It might not sound like a lot of work, but those oak branches had to come down, and they were the size of small trees. The price was very fair. Walter and two of his workers arrived on time and got right to work. Some of the oak branches were over flower beds and they were able to remove them without damaging anything. At my request, they trimmed the Hemlocks back farther than originally planned (no change in the price). They even carted away the debris from some shrubs that I was trimming myself. Who could ask for more? The other day I was driving through Stoneham, and I saw Walter giving an estimate at someone's house. I almost pulled over the tell them that they needed to look no further. I figure it is more useful to write this review, so here it is!

The owner was very professional and responsive and got the work done sooner than I expected. The quote was $100-300 lower than other quotes I got but the service was excellent. The wisteria was very ingrown onto the house and it was delicately and carefully removed without any damage to the house. As we are having our house painted they kindly trimmed a maple that was touching the house without even having to ask or further charge. Would use again.

Very prompt and completed well with no problems. Also, gave us good advice on dealing with the stumps and "manicuring" some other trees.

We have had Walter to our house three times now. Every time Walter comes we are beyond pleased with his service. Each time we get the expectation that he will go above and beyond, but we are still surprised each time. Walter and Nick came 8/30/13 to trim a very large tree in our back yard. It was growing too large and getting too close to our house as well as our neighbor's house. The first part of this process was having Walter out to give us a quote. He made it clear that this is a final quote and not and estimate to be changed later. He also specifies that he and his workers are fully insured and he takes care of all of the city permits necessary; all with a good sense of humor. One thing I always enjoy when working with Walter is our conversations. Walter arrived early in the morning on Friday and began work immediately. While he was finalizing some paperwork, Nick began to trim minor branches from a tree that was not in the scope of work. When we arrived home from work that day, Walter had completed way more work than we had discussed. I would not say this is likely a normal thing, but I am guessing due to realizations while executing the initial plan, he decided to increase the scope. There was no discussion with him afterward about price exemplifying his commitment to sticking to the quote. We are beyond satisfied with the work and will always use Collings Company Tree Services in the future... although he put himself out of a job at our house for many years because of the increased scope.

I left a message about the tree work which Walter responded to very timely. We scheduled for them to come out a few days later. They showed up on time and were efficient and professional in their work. The took extra care and time to really clean up and make sure everything was perfect.

Walter is a true professional and a pleasure to deal with; old-school in the best possible way. His price is fair and straight forward. A telling example of the way he operates his business: he doesn't just claim to be insured, the number of his insurance agent is printed on all his quotes and Walter encourages you to call him for a certificate. Walter and his crew showed up on time, they worked efficiently and meticulously, and then cleaned up completely. I will call him again and will recommend him to anyone who needs tree work.

All services provided as detailed in work description. No extra costs were charged. Walter will return to assist in planting new tree when I purchase it. He specifically mentioned this as a part of his service. All he wanted was just a 24 hour notice to schedule his equipment to be at the site. Walter is very honest and I would recommend him for the type services he performs. He is a man of his word!!!

Walter Collings is a Pro. I called Walter to look at the job and within a day or so he came out and provided a quote. He was out the following week to perform the work. Walter did a meticulous job of removing all of the trees without damaging any of the property. When it came to the pruning he took careful consideration to account for the symmetry of the large Oak in front of the house. He not only accomplished my goal of removing limbs that hung too close to the house, but aesthetically the tree looks fantastic! At the end of the job my property was scrubbed clean and looked better than its state prior to the work. Walter pays close attention to the details and clearly understands the definition of Customer Service. 'd highly recommend Collings for your tree needs and will be using them again in the future.

Walter did an excellent job! Came out promptly to provide quote for job. Within a few days of making my decision to go with him, they cleared everything out. I came home and was just amazed they went above and beyond pulling out some fallen dead trees for us and disposing of them. They really want to ensure the customer is happy with their service which I was. I found the quote to be competitive and I will definitely use them again! Thanks again for the help!

I called Walter last Wednesday and he set up a quote meeting for me the following day! That was my first good experience. He gave me the best quote I could find, and I had several people come out He was very reasonable and fair. Then he came out today (Monday) and did the work. I got the quote and work done in less than a week! You really can not beat that! I had 2 trees taken down in my back yard, and they were pretty complicated trees that were located over my pool. They did a fantastic job taking the trees down and left absolutely no brush behind. They actually took more than just the tree brush. They took what had come down in the multiple storms we had this year. He also as a courtesy pruned my 2 pine trees and my maple out front that was tangled in my electric wires. He called the town for me about the front tree to see if it could be taken down per my request. He did all the work for me and did a great job! I would definitely recommend Collings for your tree removal and pruning needs. I will be using them again! Thank you Walter for being so quick to respond and get the work done!

My property is adjacent to State highway property. This Company went on the State property to remove dead branches and trash that has accumulated over the years. All brush, branches and limbs were removed from property. This company did a tremendous amount of work for the price given. When services were completed my property was clean with nothing left on the lawn or driveway. They did a fabulous job. My neighbor saw the professionalism in their work and asked them to trim a tree in his yard. Another neighbor took their telephone number to recommend to their family.

Chopped up and removed a tall tree knocked down by Hurricane Sandy. Also removed root ball, and filled and graded the site. Did what they said they would do, promptly and cheerfully. Less expensive than three other bidders.

However, the best part for me was seeing the men arrive to work with hard hats on ,heavy working gloves on and ,most importantly Safety glasses on and they remained on . It told me that this is an owner who cares about his employees welfare. The workers were very polite and worked diligently to complete job. I would definitely hire them.again.3693305884327
