Very pleased. It's a father and son team. They were very professional. Reasonably priced. Had no complaints and would highly recommend them.

Prompt professional installation of a bulkhead in very difficult location. Bulkhead had to be custom installed over large stairwell. Work completely quickly and with high quality workmanship. Would not hesitate to recommend this provider.

It was a great experience. First, it was as scheduled and on budget. Second, he is attentive to customers -- Mo called a few days before the scheduled day and told us how to get ready (we had to clear a passage for the equipment by clearing off our patio, etc.) They arrived on time and in four hours, they were done. They even raked the remaining dirt in the back yard. We are SO grateful to them!
Description of Work: We called Mo at Anderson when our very old bulkhead was leaking in summer rains. He provided an estimate, showed up on the appointed day, removed the old bulkhead and stairs, and replaced it with a beautiful new unit.

I have a rotted out bulkhead door. I thought it would make sense to hire a company with "bulkhead door" in their name, so I called them. Morris "the owner" told me he was busy, but he would come look at it.. He shows up a week later, looks at it and says "he can't help because there's nothing that will fit". Literally without saying another word he gets in his truck and drives away. He was there 3 minutes total. No suggestion of an alternative; no explanation of why a company in the "business" of bulkheads couldn't devise a solution. (A bulkhead must be possible, because there's currently a bulkhead there)... But we know the real truth...He's busy enough this time of year, or he didn't think there was enough money in the job, or he didn't like the homeowner, or he's in semi-retirement, or some other reason then the one he gave ... It's fine by me if he didn't want the work, but a REAL business would have at least offered a professional suggestion... Instead he opted to say "there was nothing that would fit" and drove away ...LOL... I understand small contractors often pick and choose their jobs to maximize their annual income, but don't claim on your website you're in the full-time BUSINESS of fabricating bulkheads if sometimes you'd prefer to fabricate an excuse.

These guys were pretty awesome people to work with. They were the lowest in terms of cost (about $750 cheaper than the next precast guy). Initially I wasn't too happy that going with a precast unit would involve cutting down a 10-ft pine tree, but went with them cause of the price. They did the work in 2 days, were very punctual in timing. I was very impressed at how fast they installed the unit, answered any questions I had and didn't mind me being there and looking over their shoulders to understand what was happening. The only warning is that the heavy equipment will leave tread marks in your lawn, nothing that loam and re-seeding would not fix.
Description of Work: Full dig out of the existing steel bulkhead doors, stairs and wall and installation of a new precast stair unit and steel bulkhead doors. Also, removal of an existing pine tree.

This contractor excavated on my property prior to calling Dig Safe. The work was nearly completed when they hit a gas line to my pool heater, put a hole in my sewer pipe and dug up my irrigation system. At first Moe was quite upset and said I should be responsible for the damages. Moe was difficult to work with. Since he was paying for the repairs and I allowed him to call other contractors for pricing I felt like it was a debate over every repair every step of the way. I made it clear that I had to live with the repairs and I had to be satisfied as to who was going to do the work. Since the project when on longer than expected, Moe needed to move his excavation equipment to meet previously scheduled commitments. This unfortunately, added to the damage of my property due to heavy track marks. Moe did his best to smooth this over with his equipment but mowing those areas is not possible. The good stuff: all repairs have been completed to my satisfaction (with the exception of lawn restoration which is my responsibility). The cellar cement form stairs and bulkhead are very nice. The cement stairs are sealed against the foundation and the bulkhead is well caulked to keep rainwater out. They removed a tree and it's stump to allow for the delivery and installation of the cement form stairs. They re installed the fence and gate that had to be taken down for access to the back yard. They removed all work related debris from my property. Moe reduced his fee by more than half to help with the lawn restoration but it's going to fall way short of getting what needs to be done. However, I was made aware some damage was going to occur but the extent of it was unexpected. Over the years, I have hired a lot of people to work on my home and property and no one has ever raised their voice to me. I know from past experience that some projects come with surprises but the contractor and I have always been able to address it in a calm and professional manner. This was a very stressful and unpleasant experience. I only joined Angie's List after the damage to my property was done and found other disappointing reviews.

Description of Work: Angie’s List Complaint 5-26-2012 Hello, My name is Don and I live in Winchester, MA and I am not an Angie's List member. As an aside, I am Realtor and have 25 years of real estate marketing experience. Needless to say, I have met and dealt with countless Angie's List contractors through my clients, many of which who are members of your service. I do not ever recall meeting an Angie's List contractor that was not at least above average, if not phenomenal. This morning "Moe" the owner of Anderson Masonry of Wilmington, MA came to my home for a quote to fix my exterior bulkhead doors and I had a very unpleasant experience that I thought you should know about. I had asked to be home when he came and he offered between 9:30 and 10am for today, Saturday. He showed up, but never knocked on our door. He came into our back yard and evidently was there opening and closing our bulkhead door for some time. My wife, and son not knowing a contractor was meeting me at our home, saw this large man opening our bulkhead from an upstairs window and thought we were possibly being robbed. They yelled for me and wanted to call the police. I calmed them down and told them who he was. Now if that had been the end of the story, I would chalk it up to the man just being in a rush and wanting to get home to his family on a holiday weekend. However, when I went outside to meet him he had already walked back to his truck, (still never knocking on our front door). Although I was upset, I did not want to show it and have things escalate (and I did really want his estimate), so I calmly and matter of factly in a business like tone, said that I was surprised he had not knocked on our front door to announce himself before going to the bulkhead and I told him what had happened regarding my wife and son. (I thought he'd say sorry and we'd just continue from there). Instead he glared at me, sneered, turned around, got into his truck and peeled off down the street. I was pretty dumbfounded. That should have been the end of the story, but I was so bewildered, I wanted to know more about the man and his company. So I checked out his web site and that is when I noticed the big Angie's List sign on the site. Learning he was an Angie's List contractor made me think, he must be great and was just having a bad day so I thought I could call and reason with him to get him to come back. I called his cell phone and the only words out of him was, "go s*** in your hat" and he hung up on me. About five minutes later he called me back. He then launched into a tirade, calling me an "a**" and saying "I have better things to do on a Saturday morning than to listen to you chewing my a** out" and then hung up again. Now I want to reinforce that at no time was I belligerent. I stayed calm and did not raise my voice. However at this point, I'm more than a little upset to have been treated so unprofessionally by an Angie’s List contractor.. I suspect because I am not an Angie’s List subscriber that this email will carry little weight, but I at least wanted to let you know the story so others won't be blindsided and to be careful not to get on this man's mean side.
