Jim is a nice guy, honest and fair. I was initially fairly satisfied with his work, I knew what I was getting and while it took constant prodding to get him on the job, I was happy to get it completed last fall. I called him this spring to get some areas overseeded and tidy up some areas that had not grown in as we had hoped last fall. I asked him several times over 4 to 6 weeks to set-up a time to return. To be clear I was expecting to pay him -- this was no warranty kind of stuff. I got zero response. I moved on. I paid him the day he completed my work -- I shouldn't have to beg for a callback...

We've been using All Star for close to 10 years for weekly service and twice-yearly cleanup. The weekly service includes mowing and trimming and runs about $150/month. The twice-yearly cleanup is around $250 each time. For the first several years they were consistent and reliable, showing up on Thursday afternoons or early evenings. They did a good job and we had no complaints or concerns. However in the past couple years they show up much more sporadically; it's now Sunday night and we haven't seen them since last Saturday. About 2 years ago they suddenly stopped coming on Thursdays and a few weeks later while they were here on a Saturday I asked one of the guys when they'd be back to Thursdays. He said "we won't, we got a new client who is paying a lot of money and he wants his lawn done on Thursdays so we had to move some people." Seriously? If we hadn't had so much trouble getting landscape companies to even call us back when we decided to hire a service, we would've dropped All Star right then. Since then they've been showing up almost always on Saturdays, once in a while on Fridays or Sundays. When they do show up, the work is OK if a certain guy is with the crew. If he's not then the work is not so good. Sometimes they weed whack but not always, and when they do they often skip over areas that they should be doing. It's the same with blowing away debris, and they don't make much effort to keep stuff from blowing into our pool. We would like to have some one-time work done with a few flower beds and such, but we're not even going to ask them for a quote. As mentioned earlier, once we decided to hire a company we had a lot of trouble getting anyone to call us back, let alone come out and estimate the job. We ended up taking these guys mostly by default since we couldn't manage the yard ourselves and couldn't wait forever for other providers to reply. We're going to contact some other services now but have no choice other than to continue to use All Star until we can line up a new service, as we don't even own a lawnmower anymore.

The biweelky lawn service was good from April to September. Starting in October, they stopped coming and did not answer calls. Never completed fall cleanup that had been requested for 8 weeks.
