Our old kitchen had not been remodeled in its 64 year history, so its original cabinets were shabby and the ceiling had a crack in it the length of the room, plus obvious water damage from above. Josselyn came in, assessed the situation, and gave us a clear, realistic estimate and timetable, which we accepted after speaking to two other contractors. We are VERY glad we chose him. First, he took care of ordering and managing everything we wanted him to, including the permits, and let us take care of our end without complaint. He ordered a construction dumpster, for example, which arrived the day he started, and he and his crew did all the initial demolition necessary the very first day. They took special care to seal off the other rooms from dust and debris, and were VERY fastidious about putting all scrap in the dumpster and cleaning up the area at the end of the day. This remained their practice throughout the project. Next, with the walls and ceiling torn out, he had his plumber and our electrician come in and do their installations while he and his guys cut and framed out a pass-through into the dining room. Once the plumbing and electrical were 90% installed, Josselyn called city inspectors and took care of that process for us. Once approved, he and his crew put up the walls and ceiling, plastered, and installed a new exhaust duct for the new stove. When the new cabinets arrived, Josselyn's installation was very professional, despite needing to make numerous adjustments to them due to the odd shape of our old kitchen. When they were done, you'd have thought the kitchen was in a brand new house. Throughout the process, Josselyn was also extremely helpful with smart insights and connections that solved real problems. For example, we had planned to buy our countertops from one company, but when they kept upping the price as we got closer to installation, he sent us to another dealer, who got us nicer granite counters for $2000 less. He also pointed out details about our cabinets that saved us several hundred dollars. Maybe best of all is that the work was all done on time, on budget, and with a friendly demeanor that made them pleasant to have around.
Description of Work: First, Josselyn gutted our old kitchen, replaced the ceiling and all walls with plasterboard and plaster, and created a pass-through into the dining room. A master woodworker, owner Greg Josselyn also installed all new kitchen cabinets, new appliances, and new granite countertops. He also oversaw installation of new plumbing and electrical, including recessed lighting and new exhaust ductwork for the stove. As part of the same project, he and his team also replaced an exterior window in the dining room with french doors, including all new wood trim work around the door and glass.
