Contractor estimated a 3 week job. The job took 3 months. Initially he was punctual, but it quickly changed. Continually informed us the job would be done in so many days, when it was obvious that would not be the case. Quality of the job was poor. Gaps in the walls were covered with trim. Kitchen backsplash tiling is uneven and misaligned. Gave just one coat of paint on new walls. At a distance the work looks fine, however, upon closer inspection you can see all the flaws. Drywalled over one outlet and burried another behind baseboard heating. Fixed both problems when provided evidence of the error. It was a definite mistake to hire this contractor. Could not deliver what was promised in a timely manner, or even keep a timeline for certain arranged tasks.
Description of Work: Repaired damage from ice dams. Replaced walls. Dismantled kitchen, dry walled, re-installed kitchen. Replaced all finishings.

jason umbro is a con artist. a friend of mine gave me his flier, and always wanting to help small businesses, called him. i originally was only looking for kitchen cabinets installed, but he told me he could do the entire remodel. he had some very good suggestions and put together a very reasonable estimate, which was not the cheapest estimate but he agreed to include some things to compensate for the price. foolishly, the morning we were to meet and sign the contract, he was late and i waited for him. that should have been my first indication. long and short of it is that he did some work but after the second payment was due, he disappeared. i made inquiries relevant to legal action but, as you might expect, even if i did get a judgement, you can't collect blood out of a stone. it cost me thousands of dollars and dozens of weeks to get the job back on track. even though he gave me a certificate of insurance, you can't file a claim for non-performance or poor workmanship. if he does the job, he does it. if he doesn't do it, that's no reason to file an insurance claim. if you ever want to do yourself a favor, steer clear of this buffoon. if he does talk you into a contract, have him provide you with completion insurance. the people on the second floor also got taken in by him. he ruined their ceiling and they can't find out what is wrong with it, despite the fact that they've had the roof taken off and put back on TWICE! Biggest mistake of my life
Description of Work: complete condominium remodeling is what he was supposed to do. what he actually did was a lot of demolition. i had to bring in a company who knew what they were doing to finish it.

t'll tsmy mistake, my loss
Description of Work: I hired the contractor to paint the trim and eaves on my house in marshfield MA, hes a very goood salesman but a poor performer. I made the mistake of not inspecting the job after he told me he was done and paid him the final payment. A couple of days later i inspected the job and realized there were numerous areas that had been missed-not painted at all, and paint spray on the windows that was not removed. I callled him express my problems-his response was "I'll take care of that" but after many excuses and missed appoiontments nothing was ever corrected. I wanted to pusue him in small claims court, but he gave me a false or expired address andi could not proceed. Never the less, I view this as learning experience for me-if i did my homework i would never have hired this guy, my mistake, my loss. Dont make the same mistake I did.
