It started our great. We met with a friendly sales rep and discussed our options, based on the fact that we have 3 cats. We were informed that they could install "pet friendly" motion sensors that would work with any animal under 70 pounds and he showed us where the detectors could be mounted, so that the cats would not set them off by getting too close. The installation guys showed up a few days later on a Saturday and installed the system. They explained the system to us and went over all the pertinent information on how to operate it. We went out to dinner that night and set the alarm. 10 minutes after we left we got a call saying our alarm was going off. The cats had set it off. We had to go back to the house and disarm the system. We found out that the so called "pet friendly" motion sensors are really not what they claim to be. They came out and removed the motion sensors and installed glass breaks in all the rooms at no charge. We recently had our basement windows replaced. I removed the window contacts on my own with help from a technician over the phone but when they came out to reinstall them on the new windows and reprogram the system, they charged $145 for an hour of work...$95 for the first half hour and $25 for each additional 15 minutes.

You'd think, in the close to 15 years we've had a business relationship with this company, they'd provide better and more comprehensive service. And suggestions to upgrade my system, which my close-to-obsolete equipment apparently desperately needed, were never offered. With the number of better rated competitors in our area, I have decided to cancel my contract and pay the penalty (which will cost me an additional $250) move on. I've already engaged another company.
Description of Work: Had a new patio door installed this summer. This door's alarm tripped for no reason. I no longer had a service contract (which includes repair visit). First visit, fellow looked at system, the door, and recommended we call the door installers back to rip out the molding first. That little info cost me $95 (for nothing). The next visit came after a 2nd tripping 2 weeks later. This time I asked them to disarm the door entirely. That was done, another $95. Last week the alarm went off again, turns out our auxiliary battery was low. Neither of the 2 previous service personnel checked the battery or they would have reported it to me then. Another $95. That did it for me.

One of my door sensors was tripping the alarm without cause and it took three visits and three different parts to fix it. Getting the appointment was easy and the techs were lovely people. I was just frustrated that it took three visits to get it fixed correctly. Since I work at home I was not terribly inconvenienced. Maintenance is included in my monthly bill so the service calls did not cost me extra.
