McKinney Brothers Tree Services

We received a very high estimate from another service provider. In comparison, McKinney Brothers offered to do the work at half the price. He drives around in a car instead of a big truck for coming down to do the estimates. Some of our trees were big while others were small. The small trees too need to be properly pruned. Though Magnolia is not a lumbering tree, it has to be dealt with carefully. Otherwise, we will lose all the flowers. They shaped them beautifully. He informed us that by law neighbors are responsible for that part of the tree hanging inside their yard. Our neighbors happily chipped in to get those pruned.

My wife was concerned about a branch from our oak tree in front falling on the house. And our large apple tree in the back was in dire need of a good pruning. The cherry tree in the back also needed some pruning. We also had two trees whose roots were interfering with the gas line, and the gas company had asked us to remove them. I made an appointment, and Kirk came out and we showed him the trees. He could have easily played off my wife's fears and said, "Oh yes, we need to do a lot of work to protect your house". Instead he said that the tree was quite strong and our house was safe. He did promise to remove some branches that were over the house to keep the squirrels off the roof. In the back yard, he said that he had a lot of experience with fruit trees, and had recently pruned all the trees in an apple orchard. And even though the apple tree had some rot in it's trunk, he assured us that it was safe. As for the cherry tree, he originally gave us an estimate for just removing one branch from it, but we thought about it and decided to just remove it, so he added that cost. We have some other fruit trees, and he gave us some advice on how to maintain them, and he would do some light pruning on them, too. He gave us his price on the spot, and called us the next day to schedule the work. He came out when he said he would, and did the job just fine.

Kirk and his crew were amazing and we're extremely pleased with the results. They even touched up the other shrubs in the front that weren't even in the scope of work agreed to. Their professionalism was top notch and we even received a lovely thank you note in the mail a few weeks after the work was completed! We've already enthusiastically recommended them to several neighbors who've admired and asked about their work.

They responded to our initial inquiry right away and came by the next day to look at the work and prepare a quote for their services. A second Angie's List company never responded, and a third was a well-known company that we were familiar with (and is on Angie's List). McKinney's fee for the same work was $1,000 versus $3,000 for the well-known company! They also made a recommendation regarding a company to pave our driveway that would not damage the root system of a tree near the driveway.

It was great. They did a terrific job. They came in within a week. Not only did they do a good job but it was aesthetically pleasing. They were all very courteous.

Kirk was extremely responsive, honest, and courteous. Even though I think all tree service is priced at a very high rate, McKinney was lower than many. They did more than I expected, faster than I expected, and cleaned better than I could have imagined. Over the years I have had other tree services do my work, but I will definitely be using McKinney for now on.

The secretary called me back right away and said that Kirk would be calling me to schedule a time to come over and take a look at the trees I wanted trimmed/cut back. Kirk did this within a day or two and we set up a date and time. He arrived on time. I found him to be very nice, professional and knowledgeable. He gave me a written quote on-site and I told him I would get back to him shortly. A few days later I called him and agreed to his price of $575. The following Sunday, as promised, he called back and scheduled the day he's perform the service. That day, we both discovered a small limb on another tree beginning to split and he said he would put a tie back on the limb to secure it better for another $25. I agree. He was there the entire time...Climbing the trees and his workers kept busy cleaning up and removing tree limbs/sticks. They were efficient. I would definitely use them again.

They gave me a quote and did the work. The completed the work in one day. We are very pleased with their work. They did a good job. We would use them again.

They came and they went and did a very good job. They actually left the place better than when they got here. The team that came worked very well together. They were very well organized and I would recommend them to everyone. They were very polite and answered every question I had.

Called for a quote. We described what we needed to have done and they came out, looked around and left us a quote(we were not home when they stopped by). They also recommended that we have our spruce tree treated for pests and recommended 2 companies. Quote was $75 lower than 1 other company and since they had a better Angie's List rating, we decided to go with them. Once we decided to with them, they called us on Sunday and made an appointment for Thursday morning. They arrived about 30 mins late, with about 7 or 8 workers. Kirk was very professional and thorough. We walked through the plan before they started and he walked me around after the work was complete as well. It took them about 1.5 hrs from start to finish. They cleaned up the leaves and debris pretty good, but were a little less careful than I would have liked when moving limbs around the flower beds. Overall, the results look good, there are 1 or 2 branches I think they could have trimmed a little more cleanly, but pretty solid work overall.

The service was excellent. We will certainly use this company again in the future.

This is the second year that we have used McKinney Brothers. His approach is minimally invasive and the trees seem healthier since we have used their services.

We contacted Kirk based on other reviews from Angie's list, and were very impressed. We had originally called him to help remove some dead branches, but he eyeballed our yard and was able to identity the source of some other problems we had had, and suggest remedies. He was also able, at a glance, to identify every tree and shrub in our yard, which was quite important to us. We have small children and had been concerned about the toxicity of some of the bushes, and he put our minds at ease. His work was prompt, professional, and very skilled.

Excellent experience working with McKinney Brothers! Came within a week and gave an estimate on the spot. Scheduling went just how they said it would, arrived promptly on the day of the job. Work done was just as outlined. Cleaned up the site beautifully. A classy company all around.

I had an excellent experience. I left a message with the office in the morning, received a call in the late afternoon to see if he could come by, and had my written estimate that evening!!! He had incredible knowledge about the tree in question and knew just what I needed. I received a call over the weekend to let me know when the work would be done. From start to finish, it was a smooth and easy experience with McKinney Brothers!

I'll be short and to the point on this one, just hire them. Kirk is fantastic and knows trees (which was important to me since I wanted my old tree preserved if possible). You could look for a tree company for the entire year and you will not do better. I was fortunate enough to leverage the power of others on Angie's List on this one. While I'd recommend getting another quote or two just to be safe, you should hire Kirk.

My parents needed to have a large tree removed along with other dead limbs from other trees near the property line. The inital call to McKinney Brothers was answered that evening. One of the McKinney Brothers came out a few days later, right on time and walked the property with my dad. He gave the cost estimate at that time and said the job would be done in the next two weeks and that we would be notified once the schedule was set. The crew arrived right on time, the foreman introduced himself, confirmed the work to be done and started right in. The crew was efficient, safe, and cleaned up the area as they went along. When the job was done and the trucks gone, there wasn't a twig left to be picked up. It would be nice if McKinney Brothers offered a senior citizen discount but I think their prices are competitive and the job was well done.

Kirk and his team are AWESOME. It was a pleasure to watch them work- an example of efficiency and professionalism! Kirk maneuvered the 65' bucket up and around the tall white pines, carefully choosing where to prune and ensuring that the branches cut off got to the ground carefully. His team was very efficient and professional. It was a marvel to see him maneuver around the tree, swing the bucket over to me for a quick question, all the while directing his team. They were in and out quickly. They took everything they cut with them. Kirk looks at the property with the long-term eye of an arborist who wants to maintain the trees of the property for their health and to avoid property damage, etc. He goes above and beyond and really does a fabulous job. We thought we were just doing maintenance before next winter's snows, but weeks after they were here we had biblical-level summer storms. Two neighbors around us had major trees down (one who lost a deck and roof to a tree -- and ended up hiring Kirk because he'd seen him in action on our property). Despite these harrowing storms, we had nothing but a few pine needles - thanks, I'm sure to the work done by Kirk and his team.

I received excellent service from the first phone call to the completion of the job. Kirk was very responsive coming out to give me a quote and go over my options. I had originally scheduled him for the job a couple of months ago but we realized that all of the baby birds living in the tree had not left the nest. He was very understanding and told me to call whenever I was ready to reschedule. I called him last week to reschedule and was able to get a date and time that worked for my schedule. Kirk and his crew showed up on time and did the work that we had discussed. They did an outstanding job cleaning up the debris and you would never even know that they had been there. They worked quickly and efficiently and were done within an hour. I was very happy with the whole experience and will use him in the fall to do some additional work in my back yard.

The owner is extremely knowledgeable. He thoroughly explained to me what needed to be done to my trees. They have very good and modern equipment. He showed on time with a very professional and efficient crew. They are the only tree service that I will ever use.

AFTER GETTING ABOUT 4-5 ESTIMATES, IT WAS CLEAR TO ME THAT MCKINNEY BROTHERS TREE SERVICE WAS THE MOST EFFICIENT, FAST AND REASONABLY PRICED OF ALL THE COMPANIES I SPOKE TO. KIRK MCKINNEY CAME OUT AND QUICKLY GAVE AN ESTIMATE, SET UP THE JOB IN A WEEK, EXECUTED THE JOB WITHOUT A PROBLEM AND EVEN INCLUDED PRUNING SOME TREES FOR NO EXTRA COST SO THAT WE COULD HAVE A BETTER VIEW OF THE CITY FROM OUR HOUSE! This company was great. They did the job extremely well, came in under estimate and cleaned the entire area. From the initial contact they were professional and courteous.

I've been using McKinney for the past 10 yrs. or so. I've had a problematic tree that I love and they have worked with me to do what we can to save it. It's nice to be able to call and say, "I need the tree at the end of the yard pruned again" and trust that they will do it and the price will be fair (though they always offer to come by on a Saturday to give me a quote). And I confess, I love getting a thank you card from them after the job is done.

Kirk was very responsive with a return call and quote. Service was on-time and we were very satisfied with the work. Cleaned up after themselves nicely.
