When my neighbor told me about the wire and then I saw it myself, I walked up the street to talk to GTL. They had two trucks on site, one giant white one that housed heavy cutting equipment and another dump truck with their logo and number on the side. I spoke to one man who was reasonably courteous and said he would have the other man, who was operating the heavy equipment at the moment, call me in "a few minutes." He took my name and number. Two hours later, no call; then their trucks were leaving. I ran outside and caught the attention of the second man who was driving the larger truck. He told me they tied the wire up so cars could get through and there was nothing else he could do, and he drove away. After a few minutes, I called GTL's business number to give them one more chance. At my repeated insistence that it wasn't okay for their truck to tear a wire off my house and leave it dangling, he (I think the same man who’d been driving the truck) said he'd call the cable company. I was pleasantly surprised when the Charter truck arrived about an hour later (props to Charter - at least they were very helpful!). Charter had to run a new cable since it had been damaged, and also because GTL had tied it to the electric wires which is dangerous and not to code. The only redeeming element for GTL was, after my third time contacting them, they actually called Charter. I shouldn't have had to chase them down at all, they shouldn't have tied the torn wire to an electric line, and they probably could have avoided tearing the wire off my house if they'd been more cautious. Use caution if you have to deal with this company or better yet, avoid them!
Description of Work: GTL was clearing trees a few lots up the street from my house today, 6/10/17. My neighbor witnessed their truck tear an overhead wire from its connection to my house, leaving it draped over a tree and dangling about a foot off the ground at the lowest point. GTL didn't even have the courtesy to knock on my door or leave a note.

Contacted GTL via telephone, spoke with George in early September. Asked if he had seasoned firewood available, asked, price and availability. He sounded ok on the telephone. We agreed to delivery the next week. Next week I left a voice-mail. He never called back. I called again on Sep 23 and spoke with him. We agreed on delivery late afternoon of Sep 24. I asked method of payment, check or cash. George indicated either would be fine. By mid-afternoon on Sep 24 I called once more to verify delivery and left voicemail. George was a no-show and never called to indicate that he was running late or was not able to come at all. Appears from other reviews, they do not need the business! Stay away from GTL.

Not only did we NOT receive the 2 cords of wood we ordered, we wasted 3 weeks' time waiting for a wood delivery that wasn't going to happen. Additionally we lost time locating a reliable supplier with available wood.
Description of Work: I called GTL and left a message asking for 2 cords of 16 inch seasoned firewood to be delivered to our address. George answered my call saying, yes he had wood and could deliver it to our address, and he'd need someone to be home for delivery. I told him we were planning on leaving for vacation in 2 weeks, but would be available whenever he was ready to deliver. George indicated that this would be no problem, they'd deliver the wood within two weeks and would call first to let us know the day. A week passed with no call so I called again and he told me he'd deliver within the next week. 5 days later I called, concerned we only had a few days left and was told no problem, wood was coming Thursday or Friday. Neither wood or phone call happened. Saturday morning I spoke with George explaining we were delayed from leaving by a day and asked about the 2 cords of wood. He replied he'd be here with the wood late that afternoon if we could be around. I told him YES we would stay put and WAIT for his wood delivery. We received neither the wood nor a phone call again.

It is now March 28 and I have not heard from him since about November. I am really disappointed as I liked George when he gave me the price for the tree, and I was happy that my neighbor liked his work and that he was going to use a crane. I am upset that he never showed up to do the work, or even give me a firm date to get it done. I understand that moving the crane is a big job and that I don't live all that close to his business, but if that was a problem he should have told me he couldn't do it rather than tell me he definitely would get it done. To me, it is really unprofessional to tell someone you'll "definitely" do something and then not only NOT do it but not contact the person to tell them you won't be able to do it. I am very disappointed in this provider.
Description of Work: GTL never provided me service. Last spring/summer they did work for one of my neighbors, who was very impressed by them. George from GTL gave me a price of $950 to remove a silver maple from my backyard and to grind the stump. Not only was this an excellent price, he was going to use a crane to lift the crane out of the yard so he wouldn't damage my lawn or driveway with his trucks. This was a HUGE selling point to me. Throughout the summer I sent emails and the occasional phone call asking when he would be able to provide the service. hen I did not get a date from him, I emailed him in maybe August asking if he was still interested in the job. He said he definitely was. the early fall I also asked him to give me a price on trimming a tree in my front yard, which he said he would do. I had not heard from him by November and emailed him again because I wanted the tree down by winter. He responded he would definitely get the tree down by winter and would give me a price for the front tree.

I check on Angie's list for a company with decent reviews to give me a quote on some land clearing and tree removal. George responded in a timely manner, and came out to quote the job right when he said he would. The price was very fair. I had a couple of other things I asked for quotes on, depending on funding, would maybe have to wait until spring. He quoted them and gave me a timeline on the original quote of 2 to 3 weeks. This was the very beginning of Oct. I heard nothing for a while, but didn't think much of it as I know other job lengths can ebb and flow according to weather, etc. After 4 weeks I contacted him again via email (the method he had delivered my quote and original communication). I heard nothing. A week later I called all of the numbers I could find for him, one was out of service, and emailed stating I needed an idea when they were going to be on site to complete the job and need it completed within two weeks. Now this was quoted as a 2 day job, so not something that would push other jobs that far back. At this point it was 5 weeks from the original contact. He said no problem, he could do it "definitely!" so we wait. Nothing. I even gave it one day past two weeks when I wrote another email. Keep in mind this is 7 weeks out now, from a job that was to be done within 2 or 3 of the original date. I gave a date of the job needed to be completed by the end of the week (there was 5 days in there, to be fair, time to shift other jobs, or whatever). He said he could not promise it would be completed by the end of the week, but they could definitely start that week. I emailed back again and said I needed a firm day they would be starting. I hear nothing. It is now Friday and no one is here taking down the trees. We are at 8 weeks from the original contact, on a "2 day" job, that was to quoted to be completed in 2 or 3 weeks. At this point I have to cut the job loose and go with my next quote, that is still a fair price, and hope they show up. I am not sure what happened here, if our job wasn't lucrative enough or what.
Description of Work: He was contacted to do some land clearing on 1/2 acre, remove three trees near house and power lines.

The quality of their firewood is really exceptional. If you order a cord of drywood, they will deliver a generous cord. It is dry and seasoned and their price is very reasonable. I've hired them to do tree removal and stump grinding, they came promptly and did a good job. There were couple of things that we felt incomplete, the owner himself came out the next day to help finish up the job and to take care of any concerns that we had.
Description of Work: We've used GTL Forest Products for tree removal. They also supply our firewood.

I asked George if he could expedite my job and he did. He was on site with in two weeks of quote. He and his crew worked through a monsoon of rain all day. Impressive. Total job took approximitely 2 days total. They worked well past 7:00 pm one night to finish the job. Only concern is safety, not all employee had proper safety attire (hard hats, safety glasses...). George was a pleasure to work with, very approachable and down to earth. Impressive amount of work in a short amount of time. Price was extremely reasonable.
Description of Work: Removal of 9 trees and grinding of 2 stumps and removal of debris. All trees needed crane service and were located in on adjacent properties. All work was performed from our residents. 5 of the 9 trees were Oak and well over 150 years old. Extremely large!!
