Dryer Vent Wizard of Middlesex-Essex

My experience using Dryer Vent Wizard was excellent! Setting up the appointment was quick and easy and the technician was courteous, on time and explained everything thoroughly. Highly recommend!

I had used them twice before to install dryer vents and I needed to have vents installed where old plastic slinky looking dryer vents are now. They e been to the house, I know what they do and I just wanted them to come do the work. I was told that they would have to come inspect first then come and install. There’s nothing to inspect. Simply replace what’s there so I can move forward with my project. I asked for a return call but each time I called I never received a return call. Business must be booming if repeat customers can so easily be turned away.

Had a bit of a unique situation (Dryer was 30’ from the exterior) and Jean was the service man that came out. Great guy, professional, and did exactly what he said he would at the price he said he would. Great experience…very pleased.

Service fine and reliable as in the past many years I have used them. Price increased by at least 50% from last year. May look for another company going forward. Technician had new outside covers the company was selling for around $80??. Could clearly see the company was focused on increasing sales/making more money; however, the cost from last year was $198.00 and the service this year was approx. $356. Technician indicated prices have gone up. The prices difference for me was very significant. As a long time customer, everything was fine with the exception of the significant price change. Moving forward, I may or may not use this company for my annual cleaning.

.June 24, 2020, Dryer Vent wizard essex 'cleaned' dryer vents. after they left dryer broken and vents still full of lint. see picture. I spoke to Owner, Web Dickson, and asked for him to pay for new dryer. her refused and said would email an offer to reimburse 1/2 cleaning. Web Dickson did not email. I have called over seven times and he will not call me back. Jean

We called Dryer Vent Wizard on the recommendation of a technician from Same Day Service, who'd been called out to our house on 4/23/20 to service the dryer. The technician from Same Day Service informed us that the foil venting at the back of the dryer was no longer to code, and before they could turn our dryer back on (after servicing) it would need to be fixed. Given that we were approaching the height of the COVID-19 pandemic here in MA and needed our dryer working, we trusted this recommendation and called Dryer Vent Wizard to come out, and they did so the next day. The complaint against Dryer Vent Wizard is for the following: the technician clearly didn't have the expertise to resolve the problem, and instead of saying as much, he conducted further "inspections" charging an additional $90 to drill holes in the sheetrock and another $89 for an "exterior video inspection" (this is in addition to the$49 diagnostic inspection fee), only to tell us that there wasn't enough space between the drywall and exterior wall to install a vent that was up to code. Mind you, there was already a hole in the wall for the existing vent that clearly showed the available space, so an experienced technician would have quickly determined this. I should note here that I am filing this complaint on behalf of my elderly parents, whose English necessities my advocating on their behalf. Due to the pandemic, I was at their home during this inspection, but could not oversee the technician's work because I had phone and video meetings. Taking advantage of my elderly mother's anxiety to get her dryer working again, this technician clearly found a way to increase the scope of his "diagnostic inspection" in order to charge more. He spent a few hours at the house, and was on the phone with his boss for most of that time. My mother shared with me her worry, since it seemed even to her that the technician didn't really know what he was doing. But my mother gave him the benefit of the doubt to complete his diagnostic. She agreed to his doing the additional inspections because he stressed it would all come out of the final cost of new vent installation. In other words, she trusted that whatever he was doing was necessary, and would be deducted from the total cost of a new vent. Only after completing these additional inspections, he said that a new vent couldn't go in the current location because there wasn't enough space between the drywall and exterior wall. Again, to an experienced tech, this would have been evident straight away, especially since there was already a hole that clearly made visible the open space between drywall and exterior wall. The tech then recommended two other options to my elderly mother: one was to run the vent across the ceiling to the opposite side of her finished basement (clearly not a good option), or to try to vent out through a small window (which they couldn't do because the glass would have to be cut to accommodate), or the last, most ludicrous option, to completely relocate the washer/dryer vent to another location because he noticed that both gas and water lines were there for hookup. It wouldn't cost much to do so, he informed her. Trusting his advice, she called another contractor to quote that job, paying another $220 for that inspection and quote. The contractor informed her that it would cost several thousand dollars to relocate the dryer/washer, and that it was no easy job. At this point, my mother asked me to get involved and help resolve. I found another technician to replace the vent and called Same Day Service back out to turn the dryer back on (all this during a pandemic was not easy). I then emailed Webb Dickson, owner, with my complaint on 5/5/20. Before he could issue any kind of refund, he needed to have his technician come back out to look at the work that was done. I agreed, although in retrospect I should have not. The technician came back out on 5/14/20 to inspect. Claiming that the vent was still not to code, Mr. Dickson refused to refund the additional charges. The complaint here is simple. We called Dryer Vent Wizard for their expertise. That's what we agree to pay for when they charge us an initial $49 diagnostic. I have no issue paying this. However, it is bad faith to mislead an elderly woman for whom English is a second language to pay an additional $179 in "inspections" and then give bad advice, which costs her another $220, only to, in the end, leave her in the lurch (out $448 and 2 unnecessary holes in her drywall). To reiterate, this complaint is against Dry Vent Wizard for bad faith. Had Dryer Vent sent out a more experienced tech, he would have looked at the job and determined they couldn't do the work because it would not be up to code and left. We would have paid their $49 initial diagnostic fee and found another vendor. Instead, they found a way to take advantage of an elderly woman during a pandemic, and charged her $228 only to put holes in her wall and say they couldn't do the job. This is unethical and predatory and for that reason, I am filing this complaint on my mother's behalf. It should be noted that Mr. Dickson was extremely unhelpful and refused to resolve this matter equitably. When I explained the situation, her responded by saying that (and I quote): "My technician Je’an, who is a very responsible, dedicated 50+ year old man was the technician assigned." A clear logical fallacy since Mr. Dickson is confounding his tech's age with his technical expertise. Furthermore, if your technician is so experienced, Mr. Dickson, then pray do tell why he spent the majority of this time here on the phone with you?

It went very well. Kyle is a nice young man who is very knowledgeable and professional. He is a hard worker and did a great job explaining everything to me. I couldn't be happier with the work that he did for me!

First it was lovely to see a female technician. She was knowledgeable, answered all my questions and professional. Great job.

Wendy cleaned the dryer vent pipe and installed an outside fixture to replaced the failed flapper. She installed a magic device which has totally solved the problem. We always ask for Wendy to repeat servicing and/or cleaning our dryer vent. The company is a little pricey but worth it.

Marc did a great job cleaning the dryer vent , installing a new dryer vent cover and cleaning up the area of the lint. Called in the morning to get a quote and since he was in the area Marc came by in the afternoon, explained what it entailed, gave me a quote and completed the work.

The technician came during the allotted time window and promptly completed the work and tested the air flow to make sure everything was in good working order. We paid extra to get a weekend appointment because our big family's laundry was piling up.

We have an oversized washer and dryer in an undersized space and the job was difficult. The technician was fabulous and worked extremely hard and diligently to get the job done. I would hire her again in a heartbeat.

Great, Dan immediately determined that our vent was so full of lint it was coming apart at the seams and could be pulled out by the handful at the exit. He cleared the entire vent and repaired the seams-- let us know we should be cleaning it regularly. I consider us fortunate that the overheating of our dryer and the blockage didn't cause bigger issues. If you have a dryer problem, check the venting first. I would recommend Dryer Vent Wizard gladly. Webb, the owner promptly helped us determine a rough cost range for the service and Dan was knowledgeable, skilled, and personable. The cost for our service included diagnostic inspection, repairs to the vent line, cleaning the vent, new vent cap, and considering the vent line was extra long.

Our technician was on time and very professional. He walked me through the services which needed to be performed. After accepting the estimate for service he got right to work and as promised he had the job completed in the time frame he stated. Squared away the work area upon completion of services. I would recommend this company to anyone.

As always, the service was excellent. The tech cleaned out a lot of lint (it was like snow!) which she did a great job cleaning up. She was prompt, efficient and very courteous (she is the same person as the previous 2 years). What a comfort to have such reliable service people.

Kyle the technician was excellent - very professional, courteous, and competent. He cleaned and resealed the dryer vent, and installed a new exterior cover with dual flap. I thought it was pricey for the amount of work that was done and the amount of time spent doing it, but overall I was very happy.

These guys were great. Very responsive, and came out quickly and did a great job. The technician Sean was excellent. Highly recommend for dryer vent cleaning.

The tech called before he arrived with an ETA. He explained all of the work and was very nice. I will use them again. Our dryer vent runs through a closet and a ceiling to the outside. I feel much safer now that it is clean.

I'm so glad I contacted them--and Webb and Kyle were AWESOME. Initially, they were booked for awhile, but they took pity on me (twin mom of toddlers, using my dryer every day) and fit me in the day we got in touch (this was after Webb working very hard to contact me via text and phone). Within a couple hours of contact, Kyle was at my house, diagnosing the problem (this took a bit of work because my outside dryer vent was practically inaccessible. But he could see that the vent was extraordinarily old fashioned (nowhere near code--had I been able to see it myself, I'd have called sooner!), it was caked with inches of dryer lint (he showed it to me--truly frightening I'd been using it--there was years of lint from previous homeowners, going back god knows how many years--I'd been using the dryer for three years, but the vent looked like it hadn't seen the light of day in at least 10 years if not more). He removed the old outside vent, installed a new one (this is all while crawling in the dirt to the nutty location of the vent) and cleaned out the vent pipe. I'm thrilled they could help me so fast and so completely. I'd definitely recommend them and I'd hire them again. BIG HUGE THANK YOU!!!!!!

I am using "Dryervent Wizard" company service for the last 6 years and service always was excellent: easy to schedule appointment, high level of professionalism, always on time, answer on all my questions, and very honestly about work has to be done: if vent was clean I paid only for visit and the company always gave me a coupon, less price compare to other companies (I called 6 different companies and was difficult to get an answer about how much could it cost and finally price is always higher).

He left, and water came pouring out from the connections that he made, so I called him and he came right back and repaired it, but it wasn't the best experience that I've ever had. He was really nice about coming back, but I don't think I'd use him again.
