AAA Flood Drying

After calling the insurance company around noon on Wednesday, I called AAA Flood. They arrived at 7 pm as I requested (the water had been shut off in my house by the dog walker and neighbors). Clay and his assistant are doing very well. The work is ongoing 2 days later with extensive drying taking place as well as suctioning of excess water in the basement. Clay is very professional, respectful, and is lowering my stress after this unexpected event. So far, drying upstairs in the office adjacent to the bathroom, in the bathroom, in the downstairs dining room, foyer, hallway, and bathroom which all indicated measured moisture and wetness resulting from the leak. Demo in the downstairs bathroom showed water behind the walls plus in the hallway closet. Also, in the basement, all the insulation is saturated as well as the pipe wrap. Extensive water damage to boxes and furniture stored in the basement so they helped me move boxes around and dispose of all the wet items. The work is ongoing and the insurance claims agent will stop by today to tell us what we can continue to do. All in all AAA Flood is highly recommended. They are doing a fantastic job.

I'm always leery of companies that start with A - my mom taught me that it is a gimmick to get at the top of the phone listings. But, in this case, AAA Flood Drying is the best company to choose. I called Clay in a panic - on a rainy day, I had walked into my son's bedroom to see a fountain of water pouring onto the floor from the air conditioner. The carpet squished when I walked on it. Clay talked knowledgeably (and at length) about water damage, mold, etc. Said that I'm looking at a starting price of $500, easily, but could run up to $2000. I'd already looked up steam cleaning - 2 rooms is $99, so this price made me rather sad. But - ok - let's do it. I need it done right. So the options are 1) overheat the room beyond belief and dry it all out and hope there's no mold in the wall or 2) take out the wet carpet and pad and cut out the wallboard and you're looking at $18,000 easily to fix it all, put in new carpet, put up a new wall, repaint.... We rent. I picked Option 1. Came home after work (my partner was home to let him in) and Clay was cheerful and showed me everything he was doing and that things were going to be ok. He cut out and removed the carpet pad - the carpet would be fine, but the pad would be much more difficult to recover. Easier to replace it. He set up a plastic tent around the affected area and a heating system that brought it up to 100+ degrees inside the tent. Cords ran through the house to various outlets so that we didn't trip any breakers. The process took a few days, but he wanted to make sure that things had completely dried out. I liked that he stopped by to check on it and was willing to err on the side of caution rather than simply saying, and quot;ok, good enough!and quot; He gave me a great rate on the service because I was paying out of pocket and not going through an insurance company... It was at that tipping point of not costly enough to want to go through homeowner's, but didn't qualify for renter's insurance (which covers belongings, not building). As the saying goes, I hope I never have to call him again. But if I am ever in a position where I need to call on someone for flood damage - I will instantly call Clay. And I would recommend him to anyone who needs help. He knows what he is doing and is glad to help.

AAA Flood Drying did a fantastic job for us. We had an immediate flooding problem that required attention quickly, over the weekend. Clay (the owner) responded quickly, arrived when he said he would, and, most importantly, did a terrific job. He immediately got to work setting up all the necessary equipment, e.g. blowers, venting, etc. He told us what he was doing every step of the way and explained how the drying process worked and how long it would take to complete the work. He returned when he said he would to remove the equipment and cleaned up thoroughly. After he was finished, we felt he had done a complete and professional job. Also, our homeowner's insurer deemed the work proper and necessary and covered the cost of the work. I would definitely use this company again for any water damage issue!

For now, will take care of it myself. Or may call their referrals that are closer to me and most likely cheaper.

This was a big job and I was very pleased with the response from AAA. They were very efficient, and were easy to work with. They have an emergency service, so they came out right away. I did see a little unprofessional behavior with the crew, but overall they worked very well together.

I can not believe how nice and helpful Clay was. He had so many suggestions for how I could improve my basement--no drywall within 4 inches of the floor, no linoleum tiles, area rugs so they can be removed and cleaned. This is clearly a quality company, and though I hope never to have to use them, I suggest you give them a call if you need to be dried out.
