We are very pleased with the work performed. It was done on time for the quoted price, and the results exceeded expectation. Alex's crew moved all the heavy furniture to the basement (and back) for a very reaonable price which was a big factor in our contracting decision. We highly recommend their services.

This is a fantastic company. Alex and crew were always on time, got the job done and quality is exceptional. Taping off the area with plastic, care for moving furniture and final results exceeded my expectations. I am very picky, he did exactly what needed to be done and was obviously very experienced. Totally professional. I would hire him again. Thanks for a terrific job!

We have a rental property on the Cape that we use for a few weeks in the summer. The floors have been recently refinished by New Floors and we couldn’t be happier. Not only did we get a shiny look we also went by Alex’s (owner) recommendation and added a stain which made us in love with a completely new style.

Alex (the owner) and Michele (office manager) could not have been nicer or more helpful! From initial contact through completion of the work, they were pleasant and very professional. I especially appreciated things like Alex calling the morning of the job to make sure everything was ready and Michele taking time and having patience to answer my many questions. Their staff went right to work and were very skilled. I felt confident in their abilities. I must add this was a small job and yet they made every effort to schedule and complete it in a timely manner. The work exceeded my expectations! I found Happy Floors through Angie's List and I'm more than happy I did! Outstanding!

On 4/1/2015 I contracted with Happy Floor to have a new kitchen floor installed.. On Thursday 4/23 a crew arrived and commenced to move appliances and furniture into the two adjoining rooms. That done, they proceeded to rip up the old floor and lay down the plywood base. Only at this point did they realize that they had the wrong tile and would have to reorder - leaving the 3 rooms in disarray for the weekend. They came back at 3pm on Monday(4/27) to apply mastic in preparation for laying the tile, and eft at 5pm to allow time for the glue to set. They returned at 6pm to find the floor still not ready and left again leaving the room completely unusable. They returned at 9am on Tuesday (4/28) and completed the job by 3pm. After having had time to look over the work, I called Sergei at 4pm to advise him of my dissatisfaction with the job: 1: the floor was now higher than my original floor creating lips at the 3 thresholds which were a trip hazard. 2. some of the tiles were not properly set. 3 there were obvious raised ridges running through some of the areas. In addition, I informed Sergei that a bottle of alcohol was missing from a cabinet in the room they used for equipment storage. I also awoke the next morning for find that my basement was flooded. A call to the plumber determined it was the result of the fridge having been poorly reconnected. There was no return call. On 4/29 I called him again and was told he would come and check my concerns .On 5/11 he arrived and proceeded to reglue the poorly set tiles and then began to justify the raised ridges by insisting that it was because my floor was uneven. He did not offer an explanation for the new height of the floor. His arrogance was so upsetting I asked him to leave. Later that afternoon John called to offer a payback of $450. When I suggested that money was not the answer he then offered to redo the entire floor at no cost to me but that it would take about 16 weeks. I agreed with the plan. The work was then scheduled for 8/3/2015. Alex arrived on Wednesday, 8/5 to say that they could not begin because once again the wrong tile had been delivered and they would have to reorder; they would be back on Friday to install. Due to many interruptions in the work, the job was not completed until 9pm on Saturday. Shockingly, this installation was no better than the first go-round. This time the floor is lower than the original because no underlay was used resulting in a gap between the floor and the walls and thresholds. In addition, there are once again, several small bumps showing through the flooring. While Alex did acknowledge the poor finishing ,I have not asked for corrections in that I do not want them in my house again. I found them to be arrogant, dishonest, inconsiderate and disrespectful. This has been my very worst experience with home improvments.

First of all we are very sorry your not happy with the job that was performed. While I do agree we had the wrong tiles sent to us twice. We had ordered the right product the distributer sent the wrong product twice. The reason we had to wait to so long to redo the project was because you didn't want us to do the job because you had family coming. We also explained to you that the type of product you were picking needed a perfect floor to install on. You didn't want to pay to have the floor leveled and fixed properly. Also we explained that not leveling the floor to the right level would result in lips in the doorways. You were aware of this. I did offer to refund the whole job as we were not sure you were going to be satisfied with the floor. As well as $500 just to leave the floor the way it was. I have been nothing but professional with you, and our owners are very professional and work very hard to make sure all our customers are happy. As for now Im not really sure what we could do for you it is the product you picked. We did install transitions over the lips in the doorways as well we installed the whole new floor materials included for no CHARGE!. We have built our reputation on making all our clients HAPPY. As for your liquor that was missing I dont really know what to say But we would be more then willing to replace the bottle for you just tell us what it was specifically, or tell me how much it was and we will mail you a check right away! We have done everything we could to satisfy you, you also told the owner that no matter how the new floor came out, you were going to give us a bad review. So I guess there are some clients we can never make Happy. But if you have some way of us making this better for you please let us know.

Update: Please see my 7-24-15 update at the end of this. This was a dreadful experience for us from beginning to end. Reasons: 1) Not honoring their promise to use "dustless equipment." Yes it's true that nothing is truly dustless, but they didn't even use the equipment they said they would use - and they sanded without vacuums when they used hand sanders. They left piles of dust for days. They promised to plastic over our closets and did not. It was a dust NIGHTMARE. So much worse than any dust experience we've ever had with sanding. We hired many people to help us clean and it still took weeks of repeated cleanings to get rid of the dust. Do not believe "dustless." It's not even close. 2) We had to hire cleaners and pay several hundred dollars in cleaning fees when they were done. I had to take everything out of my closets and scrub everything. It took weeks to get rid of most of the dust and it's still not great. 3) They did not honor price per square foot (explained below). 4) They repeatedly extorted more money from me by walking off the job for no reason other than to extort more money. Based on actual square footage and agreed-upon sf price, we should have paid $3249.75. By the time they were done extorting extra money from us, we ended up paying $4850. They knew we were under time pressure and used it to take advantage of us in every way. 5) They filled small holes with inappropriate material of the wrong color. We ended up with big white blobs that look like paint where they attempted to fill holes (some of which I believe they made with the sander). When I asked them to fix that, they only tried to fix it in the middle of the rooms, not at all addressing the several feet around the perimeter of the room. Their fixes are orange and tan. The floors are light pine. 6) They damaged the floor with their sanders in several places. They broke off a piece of threshold. They cracked a couple of boards. I hope I can post photos. There's no excuse for causing damage. 7) I was told that only their crew of workers would come, that they don't subcontract. They subcontracted for at least two of the days, for the hand-sanding part. 8) We agreed they would use only Bona Traffic HD on the floors, which was included in the fee. Then why was there a gallon of (much cheaper) Bona Mega at the job? 9) THeir delays meant that they finished late. Because of the lingering smell AND especially because it was still dusty (despite having had the place cleaned for hours) I could not stay in my own home when I came back to town. I had to wear a respirator and clean (with another person) for two more full days to get rid of dust, while staying elsewhere. Details: After they gave us a high price per square foot because we were dealing with painted floors (fair enough), I realized that they had mismeasured the floors by over 150 feet which amounted to an $850 difference, in their favor. I called and discussed this with them. They assured me that on the starting date, they would remeasure and honor the price based on actual square footage. But then on the starting date, once all of our furniture was already moved into storage, Sergey chose not to honor the price, telling me that he just wanted the price he quoted - he admitted that MADE UP THE SQUARE FOOTAGE! Although he had promised to go by the actual measurements, now that the day to start had finally arrived, he said he would leave if we wouldn't pay the higher amount. Because we were on a tight timeframe and all of our things were already in storage, we agreed to let them go ahead. He subtracted $200 from the EXTRA $850 and acted like he was giving me a deal. It only got worse after that. They repeatedly stopped working until we agreed to pay them extra money, claiming the job was harder than they thought it would be. The owner had come out himself to bid on the job, and then claimed not to know the nature of the work. It was as if they'd never sanded painted floors before. It was a nightmare to deal with them. The manager called and screamed constantly, to try to get us to pay more. Truly SCREAMED. If we had not had a tight deadline for this work because of other circumstances, we surely would have fired them many times over. They were very very unprofessional in their management of the work, their communication with us, their (lack of) fulfillment of promises. UPDATE 7-24-15. Just saw their response, which was filled with lies. 1) They claim the only tools they used without a vacuum were hand scrapers. This is totally untrue. They used hand sanders without vacuums and created a ton of dust. I have photos of piles of dust, which were left overnight. The "project supervisor" who claims he was there every day was only there a couple of times. Most of the time it was a variety of guys, some of whom were not even employees of the company. 2) I did not empty my closets because they assured me that they would cover the closets very well with plastic and that the contents would be fine. They completely failed to even attempt to cover the closets with plastic, and it was an utter nightmare. Every item I owned was submerged in three inches of dust. 3) These so-called professionals did not bother to test to see if the paint was lead paint. I've been told by other floor contractors that the assumption in an old house (prior to 1970) is that any paint can likely be lead paint. My belief was that they would take the correct precautions if they found that it was lead paint. But no, they acted like they'd NEVER encountered lead paint before and used it as an opportunity to try to extort more money. (Ask any flooring contractor if an old house is likely to have lead paint. Every single one will tell you that it's very likely.) Then, they said they would take extra precautions but they did not; hence the piles of lead dust they left. 5) The "filler" they used does not match the floor and looks AWFUL. They also did not ask my permission to use this filler; they just used cheap crap. It doesn't even look like they tried. 6) So many lies here, I don't know where to start. I asked them to stop working at 6 pm in consideration of my neighbor, not 2 pm. 7) I was charged for threshold on my invoice. It was not "free." I was also charged for replacement of a board that was never replaced. (It was nailed down instead, but the charge was never removed.) 8) The agreement was that they would measure the actual square footage and I would pay based on the price of $5.25/sf (already high because the floors were painted), not based on their "ballpark" of the square footage. (Since when does a flooring company make a mistake in measure that is off by 150 sf - in their favor, of course.) Based on that agreement, I would have paid $1600 less. The company was totally unprofessional. i don't know who wrote the positive reviews, but I have trouble believing any of them were based on work that this company did.

Dear [member name removed], thank you for your review, we're very sorry that you went through it. Although, please, let me clarify a few items. 1) All our sanding edger’s and drum sanders have attached vacuums or dust collectors to them. The only tool we use without a vacuum is a hand scraper, because there is no way to attach a vacuum to it. I wish you would have been at the job site to see it for yourself. Your painter Gina saw us using vacuums with all the equipment so you can talk to her; also we were in full removal clothing to protect our health from the lead paint. As for “They left piles of dust for days”, I just can’t agree with that, because I was the project supervisor at your project and in the end of every day I was cleaning up everything myself. We always try to keep job sites clean at every step of the project. 2) We always recommend everything to be cleaned up after we're done, you can see it in the contract you agreed to. In addition to that, the only area we did not clean were your closets, because they were packed with your clothes and you decided not to move them out of the closets and asked us to leave them the way they were. Just to remind you, I recommended to re finish all the closets as well, but you refused. 3-4) The only reason we had to charge you extra (additional charge was added once) is because you had LEAD paint. You knew about it but never informed us about it. Please, keep in mind that LEAD removal by a LEAD Removal Company would have cost you 3 times more than what we have charged you. (This number is not made up; LEAD removal is an extremely expensive procedure). 5) Your pine floor is 100+ years old, it had warm\bug holes all over the house, and we used pine filler(I personally guarantee that) to fill the worst ones. Later, per your request we spent an additional 3 hours to stain those spots for free. 6) 2 of your thresholds were breaking apart so we replaced them with NEW ONES for free. 7) I agree, we used few additional guys on Saturday and Sunday in order to finish your project as soon as possible. 8) We did use Bona Traffic HD in satin matte finish at your place and Gina (your painter) saw us using it. SEALED Bona Mega bottle was in one of the containers we use to carry our finishes. We have a lot of different finishes in every car so we can use the right product at every project. You can RUN ANY TEST on your floor to check the material which was used. I GUARANTEE that we used what you’ve requested us to use. 9) We did start your project on the time we agreed to, and yes it took us much more time to finish the job, because you had 6 or 7 layers of LEAD paint we had to take off. We had to close the showroom for one day in order to send more people to your job site. We had about 6 people at your place on Saturday and 5 on Sunday in order to speed it up. Another delay was caused by your neighbor, when she came by on Sunday and asked us to stop or she would call police. You asked me to keep going and tell your neighbor that we couldn’t stop. You also asked me not to tell her that you wanted us to keep going, so we said nothing to her, even after she verbally abused me and my staff. Then around 2 PM on Sunday you asked us to stop and we did, when we could have been done by the end of the day. As for smell, you requested to have Bona Traffic HD to be used at your house, which is considered as “very low odor”(link:[hyperlink removed]), so there is no less smelly product out there, sorry. Summary: LEAD paint removal price for a project like yours by a certified company would cost you approximately 3 times what you ended up paying. You knew that you had LEAD paint on your floors, but never warned us about it. We lost money and time on your job so we could get if finished it as fast as we could for you. The original price, we gave you over the phone was $4350. When I stopped by for the estimate, you added more work, so the price went up to $4512. Your final invoice was for $4850($338 difference). That's considering that we replaced 2 thresholds for free. We spent an entire Saturday and Sunday working at your place to fit into your deadline. We also took money of the invoice so you could have you whole house cleaned by a cleaning service.
