Description of Work: After recently purchasing a 3 bedroom, 1 bath, 19th century colonial in West Roxbury, we had identified three separate bathroom projects for Wellington Rossi Construction System. 1.) Turn a large unused closet space on the 1st floor into a half bathroom; 2.) Cut the master bedroom that had two entrances, unused space and a chimney running through the middle, in half to create a master bath and walk-in closet; and 3.) Move the laundry (including gas line) from the basement to the 2nd floor full bathroom closet space. After meeting with more than a half dozen contractors we decided on Wellington, not because his estimate came in the lowest but because he listened to our vision and right from the beginning made suggestions on how to improve the ideas, dismiss them with supporting reason or matter-of-factly tell us when certain additions just wouldn’t be worth it from a cost perspective. It was this open and direct communication from the first meeting as well as a competitive estimate that solidified our decision. In addition, everything he planned to do was by the books – handling permits, sub-contractors and so forth. While initially it was our intent to space these projects out, Wellington properly advised that doing them simultaneously would ultimately save on labor costs by having plumbing and electrical addressed at once rather than in multiple visits. Wellington himself was extremely hands-on and physically onsite with the projects, especially in the beginning to make sure things were being done in an acceptable timeframe and satisfactory quality. Roselmo, the on-site project manager, and all of the crew couldn’t have been more respectful of our space, our time and our requests. The dogs came to love them all and welcome them promptly each morning. Tom, the off-site project manager, was exceptionally helpful in directing us and meeting with us at various showrooms at our convenience to properly select the necessary tile, hardware, vanities, etc. He was able to help interpret our vision and narrow down the choices. And he knows and is friends with seemingly everybody. As with any project (or three in this case) there were things that came up along the way. The inevitable change orders. Each of which was implemented after detailed consultation, explanation and consideration, all with cost and end-advantage kept in mind. The value of the customer relationship and our satisfaction was always evident but couldn’t have been more obvious when we had some questions about why the floor boards were laid a certain way, that Tom and Wellington promptly came by the house to explain on Christmas Eve afternoon nonetheless. In the end, after just 3 months, over 2009-2010 holidays, Wellington Rossi provided: 1.) A beautiful half-bath with slightly dropped ceilings, new walls, pedestal sink, new hardwood floors and plumbing that didn’t exist previously; 2.) Change order that included adding an additional water tank attached to our boiler so ample hot water or pressure will never be a concern and is more cost effective in winter; 3.) A master bathroom that kept the chimney exposed on both the bedroom side and in the bathroom, double vanity, glass shower and heated floor with plumbing that didn’t previously exist, as well as prepared space for a walk-in master closet; 4.) Bi-fold doors replacing single door entrance accessing new gutted laundry space with gas dryer hook-up, vent and emergency water valve shut-off as well as newly tiled (leftover from a sister’s bath) floor. Our total spend including the new washer/dryer was approximately $55,000. We now have a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home with laundry on second floor and a master suite with which we couldn’t possibly be more pleased. Wellington and his team captured our personality, understood our priorities and adjusted the plans with us when necessary each step of the way. No project seems too big and we look forward to our next with Wellington and the entire team. Not only would we highly recommend Wellington Rossi Co. for any small or large project but we will hire them for any and all of own future renovations.
