Bad interpersonal and communication skills. Rude and passive aggressive. Daniel Murray showed up at our home and was friendly and gave us a reasonable quote for our front deck. We agreed to work with him. Then we asked him to take a look at our back deck. After he looked at it, he texted me to tell me it was in terrible condition and needed a total tear-down, quoting $35,000. In the text he gave a lot of details, and when I said I would let him know after we got a few more estimates he sounded passive aggressive. I said our condo association co-owner would probably want to talk to him before we signed off on a $35,000 job. He texted, "There's nothing to talk about. The whole thing needs a tear down. She can look at my website." I gave him the benefit of the doubt, since text is such an easily misconstrued mode of communication. So I asked him a few follow up questions over email. In reply, he not only did not answer my questions about the back porch, but was so offended I would even ask anything that he pulled out of doing the front porch! Verbatim email: "Good morning this is Daniel. I’m just letting you know I’m going to pass on doing the project for you on the front porch. When asked for my opinion on the back porch with 40 years as a master carpenter I was being questioned about my assumptions of the porch. As if some mortgage inspector knows more than I do. So your best bet is to find a contractor most likely a handyman who will patch up the back porches. He can also do the front work as well I choose not to do this project. Good luck no further contact need to be done at this time." Maybe he's a good carpenter, but his arrogance and unwillingness to field questions is really alarming. I hope he gets the help he needs, but I also hope no one gets burned by doing business with him in the meantime. :(

Amazing work!! I had an addition built on the side of my house and I am so glad I had the Murray's perform the job. These guys do an incredible job with top notch craftmanship for a decent price. The place looks beautiful. Their customer service is impeccable, I believe that this is mostly due to them being a family run business. If you want the job done right, I would definitely give them a call and I will surely hire them again for future job!

I am an architect hired to fix lousy work by Murray and Sons. They installed some porch steps that did not conform to code, with the bottom step being way too tall. When the homeowners complained, Murray and Sons got very angry and did not fix. Either these guys do not know building code or they do not care. Just because Boston Building Inspectors do not care does not mean builders like Murray and Sons do not have to meet code requirements. Avoid these guys!

This was a BAD remodeling experience with contractor's workers a no-show MOST of the time, and when they did show up workers had NO tools or materials to work with! This is no joke; these guys show up unprepared. We had to provide them our personal tools and materials so these guys could be productive when they did show up. A fairly simple remodel job that was guaranteed to complete within 2 months actually took nearly 12 months to complete! To get things progressing/moving forward we had to take over the work (demolition, etc.) and do it ourselves. Quality of workers and workmanship is poor. Don't expect them to clean after themselves or your bathroom. If you care about quality of the work, responsiveness, and timeliness, then DO NOT USE this contractor! By the way, the owner is nasty and dismissed any concerns or complaints that we had. Although I did my homework in advance of hiring these yahoos, only later did I learn from other folks that this contractor's reputation is not good.

They came highly recommended by a friend and I can see why. Not only is their work impeccable, but he is a pleasure to work with. He made me feel at ease during the whole process. This was really my first experience with major renovations and it couldn't have gone any more smoother. While gutting out the kitchen and bath they discovered several issues with wall framing that had been covered up by the previous owners. With no extra charge he fixed any problems that he came across. Even with these issues he was still able to finish the work on time. I love my new bathroom and kitchen and would highly recommend these guys.

I was very impressed with the quality and workmanship of the company. They were really dedicated to the job one hundred percent and finished right on schedule. I would recommend them because they are fast and accurate. My kitchen looks awesome.

THEY TOOK EVERYTHING WITH THEM THAT THEY REMOVED FROM THE BATHROOM, WITHOUT ASKING ME IF I WANTED TO KEEP IT. THEY WOULD COME ONE DAY, THEN NOT COME THE NEXT. THIS BATHROOM HAS THE MAIN SHOWER IN THE HOUSE. THEY HAD NO REGARD FOR THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE THERE. SO FAR, THEY HAVE PUT IN A TUB THAT THE PLUMBER WAS SUPPOSED TO SUPPLY. THEY PUT IN A FIBERGLASS TUB THAT I DID NOT WANT; I WANTED CAST IRON. WHEN THE CAST IRON TUB FINALLY CAME, 5 WEEKS LATER, THEY PUT A GASH IN THE WALL WHILE CARRYING IT IN. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THEY HAD TO BUILD UP THE FLOOR BEFORE LAYING CERAMIC TILE. ALL THE TILE IS BUTTED TOGETHER, IT WAS CUT WRONG. IT'S LIKE PATCHWORK. THIS HAS AFFECTED THE WORK OF EVERYONE ELSE INVOLVED, INCLUDING THE PLUMBER. MURRAY NEVER SHOWED UP WHEN HE WAS SUPPOSED TO AND NEVER WORKED FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR WHEN HE CAME. RIGHT NOW, IT'S JUST SITTING THERE. I HAVE A SINK, TILE PARTWAY UP THE WALLS, THE SHOWER ISN'T HOOKED UP, AND I KNOW I HAVE TO HAVE ALL OF THE TILE RE-DONE.
