CD Plastering

Con repaired several ceilings that were damaged by ice dams. He promptly returned my initial call and scheduled the estimate visit when it was most convenient for me. We have had several different kinds of problems, with horsehair/cement and multiple types of textured ceilings. Con obviously knew his trade as he reviewed what needed to be done. We had some mutual difficulties scheduling repairs as I was having other work done. He was very accommodating regarding scheduling my job around my other contractors' schedules. He was professional in demeanor. He was fastidious in protecting newly refinished floors from damage and dust from spreading through the house. He worked quickly and thoroughly cleaned up after he finished plastering. As far as his work, it is excellent. We're very pleased with the finished product. I would not hesitate to recommend him or, to use his services again.

We had several water leaks this winter. In the bedroom my husband patched the damaged ceiling but isn't a professional plasterer and the patch was very noticeable. Another leak left a large hole in an area of our kitchen that had a textured ceiling that we have always wanted to replace with a smooth ceiling.. This is our first experience with Con, who is local (and we love that!). His price was so reasonable and almost 1/2 of what another wanted to charge for the same work. Despite how busy this season is for him, he returned my call within a day or so and set up a time to come by and look at the work. Within a few days he emailed me the estimate and in less than a week was out to do the work. He was punctual and meticulous in his set up so as to minimize the mess. All of the floors were covered as well as the steps in the house and out to the walk. He also taped plastic on doorways and kept all mess contained. He worked quickly and did an amazing job. He went above and beyond in our bedroom and plastered over a crack we hadn't even discussed! I am so impressed with his work and would hire him again.

Con replaced a cracked ceiling with new sheetrock and plaster. Con was very professional and punctual. He was very clean and neat in his work. He was very responsive to give me an estimate and was fair in his pricing. I actually discovered him when he drove by in his truck and then checked him out on Angie's List. Once I saw the favorable reviews I also decided to use him and I would certainly recommend him to others.

CD showed up with a team of three and went through their work efficiently and cleanly. The work looks great so far, and we'll likely use them in the future. Con was very responsive over Angie's List, though we were a bit surprised when he showed up. We suggested a date, but never had a confirm. Lucky for us - we were very much available and were happy to get the work done. In fairness, the recent snow storms I'm sure have created scheduling nightmares - so we were very appreciative to get the work done.

Drywall and plaster for an attic rehab done to code. Odd space with dormer, lots of angles. Finish work/plaster with recessed lights make the space look awesome as a media room and office space. Excellent work, very easy and pleasant to deal with! Lots of experience, excellent workmanship! Very satisfied!

Con was excellent all-around. He responded to my initial call promptly, and set up an appointment to come by and look at the proposed project. I really didn't know how serious the damage was and what needed to be done -- how much I needed patching vs. replacing entire walls or ceilings. I was worried about mold too. Con moved through the unit deliberately and patiently, taking his time to do a full, methodical assessment of everything as well as he could before opening up the ceilings. He was very reassuring, setting out all the possibilities, but suggesting that most likely I would not need to do the extreme/extensive replacements. In other words, he proposed doing only the work that was necessary given the actual damage. I asked a lot of questions (first time I had this type of work done), and he explained everything clearly and methodically. He inspires trust, and is a very likeable and reliable guy. I decided to hire him, and was very happy that I did. We arranged a work date within a reasonable time. He and one worker came over (right on time, as promised) and spent two days doing the work. Fortunately, he told me, the space above the ceiling was bone dry, and there was no mold. I only needed patching, though, given the nature of the pipe freeze from above, there was a fair amount of it. Con did excellent work. As he was leaving, I noticed that he missed a couple of places -- it was tough to see everything, because the damage was scattered, and the recessed lighting made it hard to see everything. But once I pointed these out, he came right back in with his co-worker and spent another 45 minutes or so taking care of the last areas. Even though he had been on the way out the door, and had packed up all his equipment, he did this work in an un-rushed way, carefully, deliberately -- and cheerfully, with as much care as he had taken the rest of the project. I was delighted with Con, and would definitely hire him again.

They did a really good job. The entire process of getting an estimate, scheduling the work, showing up on time, completing the work were all great. They did am amazing job protecting everything with plastic and floor covering and cleaned up everything. Our place was cleaner after they left! Work quality is also great! The main guy (Con) is really pleasant. He seems to work with one helper, who was also nice and super courteous. Price was very fair and there were no surprises. The check I wrote was exactly what he stated in his estimate. I was really impressed.

The job was done within a week, and everything came out perfect!

Con Doherty responded immediately to my email which included a picture of the damaged ceiling. He came by within a couple days, surveyed the job,quoted a price,and even rearranged his schedule in order to get to the job sooner. I arrived home a couple days later to find the work expertly done, with an exceptionally smooth plastering that was undetectable. Con was really pleasant to talk to and was immediately reassuring that the problem could be easily remedied. I will definitely call him to do more work in the spring, in another section of the house which will require more complicated work.

Con Doherty is a quiet highly responsive person. He is at the top of his trade and, consequently, there is nothing that he does not know how to address. The prior plasterer took shortcuts that were obviously grossly incorrect. He used 90deg corner beads on 130deg outside angles. Because of the 90deg beads, he had to put huge amounts of plaster at the bottom of the walls to account for the placement of the 90deg bead. This caused the wall to curve out at the end making an obvious concave arc at the lower level of the wall. The consequence was that the baseboard - only a 4-5 foot run - had in the middle an inch of clearance between the wall and the inside of the baseboard. As my trim carpenter said he had to be an idiot. Con stripped a substantial portion of the wall, hung new blue board with the correct splayed corner bead and plastered the new wall with perfect results. Con arrived at 7:30 as planned and stayed until12:30. He charged $200 - I told him it was not enough and kicked it up a bit. Plastering is a messy practice. Con put down heavy floor paper that worked great. He kept the job clean throughout which is highly unusual for plasterers. He even put down an 8X10 protective cover on my lawn when he washed his equipment. Yes this guy is special. I would recommend Con for any job. My only regret I did not find him in time to do the whole job.

After an outlandish estimate from a contractor referred by Homeadvisor, I found Con Doherty on Angie's. Came, looked at crack - said this isn't a popcorn ceiling - just a sanded ceiling. Can repair for $150. Did it the same day. Great guy - honest, no-nonsense, reasonable. Will hire for any plaster work in future.

Prompt response to initial phone call. Answered all questions. Showed up on date set. Set paper in hallways and room to keep floors clean. Fully covered floor in bedroom with paper and plastic sheeting. Worked efficiently and with a professional touch. Talked about what he was doing to keep us up to date and informed. When finished he cleaned up so well I didn't know he was there. A job well done!
