+ -1 moreJim and his crew are GREAT. The job was delayed due to weather, but once they got started, they had the roof done in less than 2 days. Very meticulous, did a great cleanup afterward, and very reasonable prices. We also found Jim to be very easy to talk with and very concerned about getting the job done exactly right. You can't go wrong with this company!
Description of Work: Removed old roof, installed new roof with 12 ft of ice and water barrier and additional soffit vents.

+ -1 moreThe team arrived early in the morning and worked a full day till 7pm. The whole project was completed in only 2 days. They were very professional and friendly. Once the job was done, they completely picked up after themselves. Except for the dumpster in my driveway, which will be picked up tomorrow morning, I would never have known they were there. There is no damage to any of our bushes or flowers around the house and no damage to any part of the house. I would highly recommend Jand K Roofing to other.
Description of Work: J&K provided a detailed quote with everything precisely spelled out, even the number of nails to be used on each shingle. They were very prompt with their quote and in performing the work. I had my old shingles completely removed and new shingles installed on a ranch house that is shaped like a 'C'. Ice shield was applied across the bottom and along the valleys, skylights and pipes. They install GAF architectural shingles with a limited lifetime warranty. The house looks fantastic!

+ -1 moreHe gave us an estimated start date. Due to lots of rain, he was about a week late - but kept us apprised of his schedule and came on time when he was able to confirm a date. The job was finished in 5 or 6 days (they took off labor day weekend). It looks nice, appears well done, and they did what was stated in the quote. They (he has a crew of 3 guys) came early every day and put in a full workday. .The dumpster was placed in the driveway and removed with no damage to the driveway. Bushes were covered and no damage was done to any of the woody bushes. They moved everything off the back deck. A few of the perennials had broken stalks and one plant was flattened by falling shingles - but they will be fine when they come up next year. There was a 6and quot; rip in the slider screen. Otherwise no damage done by the shingle removal - which is pretty amazing considering the amount of stuff that came off the roof. They picked up after themselves each day and we parked in the driveway each nite - no flat tires from errant nails. While winter will tell the whole story, I'm comfortable that he did a good job and would hire him again.
Description of Work: We've had ice dams in the recent past and while our old roof looked OK and was only about 2/3 rds of the way thru its lifespan, felt that there were roof issues that contributed to the stained ceilings that needed to be addressed. With our issues, we only got 2 estimates. A couple of roofers came out for a look, but never returned a quote or call. The other estimate was much higher and much less detailed. I called several of the references he gave us and they were all glowing (and didn't sound like friends or relatives) and my husband knew a couple of people at work who had used him. We had the shingles removed. We have a large gambrel roof - so square footage was more than most homes. As they were 15 to 20 years old, he suggested that we have our 4' roof windows replaced (2 fixed, 2 vented, solar blinds on all 4) - good thing as when 1 was removed, it fell apart as they took it out. We also had an in-wall air conditioner (which exited the gambrel part of the roof) removed. He gave a 5 yr warranty. Without better reference points, I would say the price was at least a fair one and probably a good price The quote was detailed, well written, and complete. Note - the original quote was for 4 ventilating skylights and the solar shades were added. There was a little confusion at the end of the job as to the final price. It worked out fine, but would have been easier if the quote had been updated when the materials were ordered. He was very personable, knowledgeable, upfront and honest ("I don't make swimming pools" - as in I can't guarantee that a new roof will fix all your ice dam problems). He made suggestions as to where we might be having some attic ventilation and air infiltration issues. We asked for recommendations for someone to complete the interior work and his suggestions. They worked well together and were able to coordinate the work that needed to be done both inside and out. Suggestion - ask him for shingle recommendations. I chose pretty much what I had before and it looks good. But after the job was done he suggested another color. He's done lots of roofs on lots of different homes and seen the results. Had I considered the alternative, I would have gone with that. From his viewpoint, on color, he's happy to do what you want and doesn't want to interfere.
