Top notch service! Both Bill (on the phone) & Andy (during the service call) were super helpful. We had an issue with our AC on a Friday evening. After a few calls to other HVAC companies, we ended up calling The Lynch Company. Bill tried to help me out a lot during the call to begin with, noting that the service department was swamped already for this emergency repair. In the meanwhile, we got in touch with Andy, who managed to fit us in on a Friday evening and was able to get the root of the problem in very little time. The service was genuine, and did not seem to be just billing for after-hours time ultimately being very reasonable. We will certainly be calling them again for any HVAC needs and highly recommend them.

When I called Andy at Lynch, he thoroughly impressed me from the first conversation. Their quote per pound of refrigerant was $100. We set a time, and he called me early to let me know that he would be able to get to my house earlier if I was available. There are not enough great things I can say about him and the company. In the end, our system only needed 2lbs of refrigerant, and my total bill was under $400. I received quotes from the other company on a new system, and I really don't care if they are cheaper. When the time comes, The Lynch Company will be getting my business.
Description of Work: I needed to have the refrigerant in my AC unit topped off. I had received quotes from other vendors for the refrigerant (R-22 / Freon), and they ranged from $300-$450/lb. The first vendor told me that it would be $450/lb and that I would need 5-6lbs (~$2250-2700).

It was a few hundred dollers. They’re not the most expensive, but they’re not the cheapest.

I called The Lynch Company for service on my Aprilaire 8100 heat exchange unit because of their high rating on Angie's List. The blower motor had been making a loud noise so I unplugged it several weeks ago. Surprisingly, the technician, Marshall, showed up 30 minutes early for our scheduled appointment. When I plugged in the unit the motor made a loud humming noise. Obviously a major problem. I unplugged the unit and Marshall removed the side cover. Without touching anything, he told me the bearings were probably gone and I would need a new blower motor. He stated he would order the part and get back to me. Total visit time was approximately 10 minutes. Marshall called a short time later to tell me that the part alone was over a $1,000. He suggested I call their main office number and speak to the installation manager to price out a complete new unit. I called and the manager stated he would get back to me with a price. In the meantime, I went on-line and found several APR5152 blower units for less than $575. I immediately called Marshall about my findings. He told me their cost was $525 but that it was company policy to double the price of parts over $100 and triple the cost of any parts under $100. I asked him if I bought the part would he install it? He said he would but there would be a service charge for today's visit. When I stated that this was the first time I had been made aware of a service charge, he said, "did you think today's visit was going to be free?" I responded that I would have expected any charges to be disclosed prior to the visit. Next, I asked how much the charge would be to which he responded $180. I told him that $180 seemed excessive for the amount of service. He told me they charge that "because we never know what we are going to run into." He followed up his comment by saying, "You can probably install the motor yourself. I have never replaced a motor on one of these units." This was the most shocking statement to me since Aprilaire lists The Lynch Company as a certified dealer on their website. This is the first time I have ever written a review on anything. I am extremely disappointed by my experience with The Lynch Company today. I intend to contact the Better Business Bureau and The Office of Consumer Affairs regarding their deceptive practices. Beware of The Lynch Company.
Description of Work: The technician removed the side cover off the heat exchange unit and told me I needed a new motor. Total visit lasted less than 10 minutes.

They know what they are doing and they show up on time. We have been customers with them for about 15 years now. The technician Marshall is really nice. They got the checkups done in about an hour. The scheduling is good and they are here within a week once I call them.

My air conditioner was not working and I called, asking for service. I was told that they were very busy and would not be able to come for two weeks. When the technician came he told me that my air conditioner could not be repaired. The owner (I think) was called and also looked at my unit, arriving several hours late. He, too, said that my unit could not be repaired and needed to be replaced, with a cost of some thousands of dollars. We agreed that he would return and give me an accurate estimate of the cost of a new unit. He never returned. I called another provided, and they repaired my unit for $350, and it is still working perfectly. The only thing that the Lynch Co. did efficiently was to send me a bill for the service call, which arrived immediately.

Description of Work: I inquired about getting central air installlation. Bill provided an detailed explanation of low-velocity systems (w/ducts) and (high velocity (ductless) systems. He took the time to go through all the steps of the job and everything that was involved. His quote included a high qualityTrane system. Although I ended up choosing another contractor based mostly on price, I would recommend the Lynch Co based upon the knowledge Bill deomnstrated and his professionalism.

The company owner responded immediately and spent a long time discussing what might be wrong. They came and although they managed to get it working again they said I probably needed a new system. A few weeks later it failed & it was clearly time to invest in replacing it. They were punctual, very pleasant to work with, neat, and quite helpful in helping me decide what kind if A/C system to buy. I will continue to use them to service my heating and A/C system.
Description of Work: My heating system stopped working and once it was clear that I needed a new furnace I decided to also replace my air conditioning service.

One of The Lynch Company's key attractions is the people they have working for them. The person who did the evaluation and provided the quote was very professional and courteous. He answered all our questions and explained everything in detail. He and some of the installation crew came out a second time to make some measurements so it was clear which PVC fixture would work for us before installation started. It was a two day job; they arrived on time each day. The three-man crew was also very professional. They were careful to not track in dirt and snow. They cleaned up the work area when the job was finished. They worked hard the whole time. They also were very willing to answer our questions and explain things. They were a joy to work with. The electrician and plumber they called in were likewise very capable and professional. We are very happy with the result.
Description of Work: Replacement of an existing forced hot air heating system with a new one. Also included an air cleaner system. Work involved removing and disposing of the old furnace, connecting existing ducts to the new furnace, connecting up the exisitng air conditioning coil, installing an air cleaner, installing new exhaust and in-take PVC pipe and fixture, and installing a new thermostat.

The first problem with our forced hot air, gas-fired furnace occurred on a Saturday in early November. The heater had gone on when it was turned on in the morning, but then stopped before the house was fully heated. I turned it off, waited 15 minutes, and turned it on again, but it still did not work. So I turned it off again. I called several heating companies but most were not willing to come on a Saturday because we did not have a service contract with them. One company wanted what we thought was a very high price/hour just for the diagnosis. The technician at the Lynch Company, Marshall Smith, asked me a number of questions about what was happening, and then said he would come over and look at the heater. I had turned the heater off, and while I was waiting for him to arrive I turned it back on and it worked! So when Marshall Smith arrived, the heater was working. He turned it on and off several times but it continued to work so he was not able to tell what went wrong. He told me a few things to look for when the problem happened again which might help in making a diagnosis (e.g. was one burner lit, or all of the burners for a short time, or none). The heater continued to work for another few weeks and then one Thursday morning it stopped working again. I went to the basement and found that just one burner was lit. I turned the heater off and called Lynch and talked to Marshall Smith. I told him the sequence of the symptoms and he said that that was helpful but not enough to be sure what was wrong. He told me to turn the heater on again and tell him what happened. So I turned it on and it worked! This meant that he was not going to be able to diagnose it, so he did not come and look at it. He told me he needed to see it when it was not working. The heater continued to work for a few weeks and went bad again on a Saturday morning. I turned it off, waited an hour and turned it on again, which was enough to make it work before. However it didn?t work this time so I called the Lynch Company and talked to Marshall Smith and he came right over. It was still not working when he got here and furthermore it continued to not work as he turned it on and off and diagnosed what was wrong. Then (as I said above) he called to find a distributor with the part, went and got the part, installed it, and that has fixed the problem. Marshall Smith seemed very competent and we were highly satisfied with the work he did, but we were surprised that the bill was so high and in particular that the labor charge was $170/hr. But he did come on a Saturday and this is the same charge that the other company said it was going to charge for a Saturday call from someone who was not already a customer. We were charged only for the time that Marshall Smith spent on the day that he fixed the heater and not for the time when he came and was not able to fix the heater (the other company had told me that they would charge no matter whether they could fix it or not). In both cases he came promptly on a Saturday. Overall, I would use him again and hope that if my heater goes out again, it does so on a weekday.
Description of Work: The technician diagnosed the problem as in a part that both controls the gas to the gas jets and senses the heat created. He then called to find a part (not so easy on a Saturday). He went and got the part and came back and installed it and the heater worked. This was about a month ago and there has been no problem with it since then.

In the past, when a similar thing happened, the service people just blew the draining conduit open with compressed air. I would research other companies for a lower price.
Description of Work: Service only. The ductless unit in our bedroom was dripping inside. The service guy said the the coolant agent was low and that's what caused it. He filled it up without asking or giving me an estimate of how much that would cost.

They are an awesome company. I had a problem sometime back that no one could figure out with my heating system, where the insulation was wrapped around the inside of the air ducts and had fallen down to the basement level. No one knew what was happening and why there was dust all over and the heat wasn?t rising. They were the only ones who could figure it out and fix it. Also, when I needed a new AC unit, he didn?t try to up-sell me more on than what I needed for the space. He took the measurements and was very fair and realistic with what recommendation he made. I appreciated that because someone could have sold me something much more expensive. They are extremely knowledgeable and I always trust his judgment. He is my go to guy for other things because he knows a lot; he is great.
Description of Work: They come out twice a year. They came out in the spring to do an AC check-up. They are supposed to come out this fall for a general furnace checkup and maintenance.

They really went out of their way to make things work; I couldn't be happier. I've had fantastic experiences. I recommended them to a friend and they retrofitted their house with a central AC unit. They also had a fantasic experience.
Description of Work: For about 12 years they maintained my old AC unit, which was wonderful because it was a 1960 unit and worked amazing. When it came time to install a new system he managed to find of the last 2 units in the country so I didn't have to swith all of the duct work. He now comes every spring to check the system.

Again, as stated above, they came in and out as quickly as possible and tried their best to be as unobtrusive as possible.
Description of Work: Great company - we had to have a heating unit replaced on an office building we own. The Lynch company answered our questions when ever we had them, they came out gave us a price and options for the building and then made a recommendation. As soon as the unit came in and the weather cooperated, they scheduled a time to come. They were prompt and very considerate of the tenants in the building. It was a great experience and we feel we really received a quality job.
